100 Dreams —June 5, 2013— The newest "100" room escape game (well, I say newest; another 30 have probably just popped up in the time its taken to write this) is 100 Dreams by Daisuke Suzuki, the maker of the excellent Kagi Nochi Tobira. The format should be secondhand by now: Each stage presents you with the simple task of opening a door under increasingly complex and puzzling circumstances.
Four Scepters —June 5, 2013— Puzzle meets roguelike in this challenging little retro game created for Ludum Dare's minimalism theme. Four heroes sounds like more than enough to find all four magical scepters, but with random dungeons filled with unique monsters, tricks, and permadeath, you've got your strategizing cut out for you.
Colour Blind —June 5, 2013— It may look cute and simple, but Nitrome's latest puzzler has some serious teeth to its challenge. When your girlfriend, a walking eyeball (it's cool, you're one too) is abducted by a jealous cloud, you set out to get her back. Paint yourself with colours to change your environment and get ready for a platformer that's going to challenge your reflexes!
... =D —June 5, 2013— Combining avoidance gameplay with puzzle elements, the queerly named ...=D starts off slow and easy, but in no time at all will have you sweating bullets as you struggle to keep up with a game that more and more resembles a chaotic disco dance floor!
The Happy Escape 5 —June 5, 2013— When out on a stroll through the park, you come across a relaxing-looking cafe and decide to have a little repast. In the ordinary world, you'd order some food, eat and go. This is Tesshi-e's world, though, and you're inside an escape cafe. Now you have to search around for clues and useful items, solve puzzles and gather up ten happy coins before you can get the heart-shaped key and unlock the exit door. Only then can you have a nice treat to fill your tummy before you leave. That's the Tesshi-e brand of fun which we know and love!
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic —June 4, 2013— So, Star Wars. From what we can tell it's some movie about a guy named Jar Jar who has a speech impediment but somehow joins "the force" and saves a clown from living on the dark side of that metal space moon thing. We're a little sketchy on the details, but what we're not sketchy on is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and how unbelievably amazing that game was ten years ago and how it's still epic today. Originally released back in 2003, KotOR defined the western RPG and managed to secure a spot as one of the most epic modern role playing games ever released. And now it's out for iPad 2 and newer devices!
Wonder City —June 4, 2013— It's all about female power in the superheroine visual novel, Wonder City. Play as the high school student, Ada, as she discovers her superpowers. Make decisions in how the story will unfold and what her path to heroism is. Will she be a confronter, taking direct action against evil, or is she more about subtlety, working from the shadows? Watch the story unfold (with mentions of people from women's history) as Ada takes a stand to prevent a villian's corrupt empire.
Gnomeland Security —June 4, 2013— Gnomes, gnomes everywhere! Popping out of the ground, asking you to plant mushrooms around them. Why? Because they can. Don't mess with gnomes. Anyway, the numbers on their hats tell you how many mushrooms you're supposed to plant, and mushrooms send out rays of light, so you can't plant one on another's light path. With two gameplay modes, three difficulties and a number of board sizes, Gnomeland Security is a puzzly bundle of fun.
Gunpoint —June 4, 2013— Behind a closed door in an abandoned apartment building, a freelance spy is trying on a new pair of pants. Little does he know that those pants would lead to a case full of mystery, danger, and electrical rewiring! Gunpoint is a stealth puzzle platformer where you can use your cool spy gadgets to change how electronics are hooked up, tricking your enemies into their doom. There are many ways to clear each building in this clever noir-style adventure, but when it comes time to choose up sides, who will you support?

Karateka Classic —June 3, 2013— Were you alive and mostly aware of your surroundings in 1984? Good, this article is for you! Karateka Classic is a mobile re-release of the original combat game created by Prince of Persia guru Jordan Mechner. Akuma has kidnapped the princess and you're going to fight your way through every one of his minions until you get her back. Bam! The music, the floppy drive loading sounds, the scan lines... it's all there. With some more modern features to accommodate touch screen controls, of course. But apart from that, it's all retro.
Mushbits 2 —June 3, 2013— You thought they'd had their fill of cupcakes, but Z3lf's blue and purple bunnies are back for more puzzling goodness in Mushbits 2. More of a level pack than a true sequel, this game offers the same puzzle elements of the first with the addition of a few abilities. Oh, and giant, ground-shaking cats in the background. If you enjoy wracking your brain to the tune of cute graphics, get the bunnies their sugar-high in the fewest moves possible to earn your stars toward puzzling greatness.

Dark Dimensions: City of Ash —June 2, 2013— Once again seek out Dark Dimensions, this time a small town destroyed by a volcano (and a father-daughter relationship gone terribly awry), and attempt to heal them in Dark Dimensions: City of Ash. Easy on the eyes and challenging for the brain, this is definitely something to look for in the hybrid adventure genre.
Quell Memento —June 2, 2013— Locking horns with a great puzzle is an almost zen-like experience. There's something wonderful about letting the world slip away as you sink into the pure logic of a mind-bending puzzle. Of course, when that puzzle is as beautiful and engaging as Quell Memento, it makes the experience that much sweeter. Created by Fallen Tree Games, the lastest installment of the raindrop-sliding brainteaser Quell takes place in an abandoned house, filled with the memories of its previous owner.
Save the Date! —June 2, 2013— It was just supposed to be a simple dinner date with your friend Felicia. How did things go so horribly, horribly wrong? In this free, morbidly hilarious visual novel, all you're trying to do is have a night out with your best friend (and maybe more?) but it feels like the universe is against you. A Duck Has An Adventure is a humorous piece of CYOA interactive art by Daniel Merlin Goodbrey, and while it has more art than gameness, it's a quacking good time.
NothingElse —June 2, 2013— Imscared creator Ivan Zanotti delivers a short and ambiguous horror adventure about a young boy whose plan to escape into a good book goes awry. Stranded in a macabre and dangerous reality that lays over his own, will he ever find a way home? And does he even want to?
GeoGuessr —June 1, 2013— Where in the world are you? You'll need a little world knowledge and some deductive skills in this puzzle game that uses Google Maps to plop you into unknown territory you can explore to try to figure out your location, and then point to it on a map, for a challenging and addictive little game.
Moon Waltz —June 1, 2013— You are the master of weather! You control a werewolf! You can terrorize the town! Or you can help the werewolf go buy cigarettes! In Moon Waltz, there's only one button, and it makes the clouds disperse and reveal the moon, which turns an innocent-looking guy into a ferocious beast. Whether you will use this power for good or evil is totally up to you and your twisted imagination. Muahahaha.
Dust: An Elysian Tail —June 1, 2013— Dust awakens, completely amnesiac, only to find himself being hailed by a talking sword that claims to have been summoned by him. And the sword's diminutive, sassy guardian who is none too happy about being dragged into Dust's quest for identity. But in Humble Hearts' stunning indie action RPG adventure, Metroidvania gameplay combine with memorable characters and fast-paced combat to deliver a gripping story of love, hate, friendship, and forgiveness.
Undertale (demo) —June 1, 2013— Undertale is a narrative RPG game currently in the works by Toby Fox. A demo has been released featuring 30-45 minutes of gameplay, and because it's such a unique experience, we couldn't wait to share it. Undertale is the story of a human girl who falls into the monster-controlled underworld where she encounters napping ghosts, mobile vegetables, malevolent flowers and a butterscotch pie. It's a little slice of Anodyne or Earthbound told through simple visuals and charming characters, and after playing the preview you won't be able to wait for the full version.
Cafe Murder —May 31, 2013— Here's a fantastic idea for a restaurant: have a competent waitress who does her job well, then hire a cook that periodically flips out and tries to kill the customers. That's the general idea behind Cafe Murder, a mobile time management game from Beaver Toad Software that emphasizes character and personality over speed. It's not a game about seeing how fast you can serve sandwiches, it's a game about keeping your shop tidy and pleasing the customers. And boy do customers love it when they're not murdered!
Mono —May 31, 2013— The winner of the minimalism-themed Ludum Dare 26 game jam, Mono, a Java game by Timtip Games, is a uniquely artistic top-down mix of puzzles and skill. In it, you must guide an eye through a series of eight levels. It's over far too fast, but it's densely packed with interesting ideas and a well deserved victor.
DefEndless —May 31, 2013— It never ends. Literally! This tower defense game will keep going until you die, as you place and combine gems around the field to keep enemies from reaching your loot. But when the game is over, you can start again with a brand new map and keep all the upgrades you bought, for a surprisingly clever twist on the defense genre, albeit without a lot of depth.
