Fun, straight forward. It's been a while since I've solved one of these without a walkthrough.

Hardest part is the ages. Time passes!

I think I have the number combination for the box, but it is not working.

From the TV, it appears the code should be first, the number of books (I count 23 on the bookshelf, it's two digits so that accounts for the blank first space), second, the number of bells (3 on the Christmas tree), third, the number of strawberries (8 on the cake in the Happy Birthday picture), and last the number of fish (5 in the tank, or 6 if you count the mechanical one you earlier got the battery from, I've tried it both ways).

So that gives me a 5 digit code, but it doesn't work! What am I doing wrong?

Reply

Is it just me, or is this game not loading properly? I'm getting the title screen, and nothing happens when I click.

Reply

Elana,

I think you miscounted

the books

Reply

Does the TV turn on?

All I have really been able to do so far is

put tape into vcr

Reply

Nevermind, I got it to work.

Reply

That wasn't too bad, took some pixel finding which makes it a bit annoying sometimes, and also has a lack of feedback about what you've achieved sometimes. Still, not bad.

Reply

Ah, thank you, djazzie.

That last book is very skinny. And it did count the fish with the battery.

About the TV

How do you get the cord? I have put the video in, I have the big star, the mom and the dad. I just can't find the cord to make it work!

Reply

Mark,
perhaps you need to find something for it? have you tried

looking behind it?

Reply

How do you know which figures go in which squares to open the final door? The walkthrough doesn't explain why the answer is what it is. :(

JIGuest:

You have to place the keys according to each family members' age, using the grid on the back of the family photograph as a reference (it works as a times table; 2 x 4 = 8 years old, etc).

The trick is that the ages aren't exactly as they appear on the front of the photograph; you have to consider that the son is eight years old now, according to the number of candles on his birthday cake, so you need to add eight years to each of the parents as they were at the time of his birth (when the photograph appears to have been taken).

Reply

So the father is 28, the mother is 20/22, and the child 8? This seems to be pushing it a bit biologically.

Reply

@David:

Look at the photo. The kid was a baby at the time. Therefore, the parents had the kid at 28 and 20/22.

Reply

I have a feeling this was made last year(since it's Happy Birthday 2008). Unless of course 2008 will celebrate it's first birthday.

[Edit: Nope. The page says: "08/12/23 ...開 (Published)" therefore I'd have to say it's in celebration of 2008's first birthday. -Jay]

Ah ok, thanks very much TinyToaster! I didn't even see the times table on the other side of the photograph!

Reply

"Happy Birthday 2008" doesn't refer to the year 2008's birthday! It's a clue:

It refers to the year the birthday picture was taken (2008). There are eight candles on the cake, making the child 8 years old. Therefore the picture you find later was taken in 2000. That makes mom either 28 or 30 and Dad 36, important info needed for the door puzzle

the game gliched and gave me all the items

Reply

I feel really dumb. It took me forever to not figure out

where to put the people,

and I had to resort to the posted walkthrough. My brain did not have any interest in actually thinking today or something. Thanks to TinyToaster for explaining the reasoning for it. The walkthrough was okay, but I like to know why I'm supposed to do something in a game.

Ah, the text walkthrough wasn't much help when it came to putting the figures in the grid, and I wasn't about to search the video walkthrough for it so I did it myself, not hard, but good concept.

Reply

I know Lhyzz reported the title screen loading and then nothing. I'm running into the same thing. The title screen appears as a linkable object, but clicking on it does nothing. Any thoughts?

Reply

Yikes. This was the worst room escape game I ever played. Of course, it's probably just me because it's soooo logical to find a fake fish under the fish tank and unscrew it to find a battery. (but aren't a lot of these games like that anyways?) And that last part with getting the family in the right slots in the door sure made a lot of sense too...
Okay, it almost makes sense once the reasoning is explained, but I couldn't have done it by myself.

Reply

I randomly had the boy at the beginning. O.O

Reply

This is one of those point and click games which, as Yahtzee says, is "powered by moon logic."

Reply

This was pretty bad. It made no sense on clicking points. I almost wish I hadn'y been able to get it started. I agree, "moon logic"

Some of these games must stop working after a while. When I see the spoilers I see a part that did not work for me. For example, there was no ice star in the star. I started over again and still the star was empty in the middle.
This happens in lots of games. I wonder if there is a secret expiration date inside the games.
