Your car needed an inspection and so you took it to Neat Escape's garage. They informed you that your car is ready, but when you get there, no one is in the garage, your car is not ready and the gate is locked. You have an appointment later today and without the car you wouldn't able to be there on time...what now?
The red car in the centre of a tidy and clean garage is yours, and apparently, the inspection is not finished. It's still on a jack, is missing a tyre and you can't put it down because there is something wrong with a pressure in the jack. Oh well. Seems that you need to complete the car by yourself and not only that, you also have to perform small repairs on a garage equipment and clean there a bit. Luckily, you are handy and inventive, and obviously capable of welding, so you can make neccessary tools and help yourself in a difficult situation very well. It's not lost time. You learn a lot about garages what you might not know before and solve several good puzzles.
The Neat Escape's game has again two endings (save your game before using the blue key!) and the second one is remarkably longer and worth playing. The reward is a nice meal with friends - yes you managed to get to the appointment on time!
That was a fun one—loved the welding! Was quite surprised at how involved the second ending was. And I actually gasped at one point:
Was not expecting that backhoe to roar to life when I put the key in!
Neat Escape's site seems to be a little irritable today. If you have trouble getting the game to load, try https://neat-escape.com/wp-content/uploads/no69WebGL/index.html.
Darn it, neither of those links worked for me. Anyone else?
You might have to try reloading the page once or twice (or thrice!) for it to work. If you don't see the white Unity logo appear in the black box after three minutes or so, reload and wait again. This one is worth the effort!
Yes, that worked! I loaded the regular link on Safari, went to do something else, and when I returned the game was up. Thank you!
My pleasure!
Unity also has a known issue where it gets to 90% of loading and fails to go any further. Most game developers have figured out how to fix that problem, but you still see it from time to time. Reloading a few times can solve that issue, too.
I don't understand the math for the 2nd ending.
It helps to remember where else you've seen those Roman numerals.
Note the Roman numerals on the poster in the office.
Do you remember the red numbers and arrows on the locked cabinet?
The Roman numerals on the poster are also red.
Each pair of numbers/arrows point you to a specific location on the poster.
Let's start with the left. The 10 down and 4 up point you to the letter P. On the right side, the 7 down and 7 up point you to the letter Z.
Now that you know where the arrows are pointing you, note the Roman numerals found in those two locations.
"Adding" the left and right Roman numerals gives you X + XX, or XXX. Use this to open the cabinet.
The rest of the second ending should be easy enough. Hope that helps!
Thanks, jF!
That definitely was not an approach I'd've come up with! As a matter of fact, I stepped through your hints one by one hoping I'd "get it" before reaching the end.
Dang! Had to read all but the last one! And thank you not just for the hints, but also for setting them up so I could reveal but-by-bit! Much appreciated!
Happy Thanksgiving One and All!
