Weekday Escape

JessIn this uncertain and often chaotic world, the temptation to hide, to lie low in a secret shelter away from dangers both real and imagined, can be awfully strong. Doesn't it sound nice? A place all your own, a safe room with layer upon layer of protection between you and the outside. A haven. What happens, however, when your refuge becomes your prison? Boxed Inn: Panic Room, the first escape game from wonderfully promising American designer and Flash author Samgine, explores that troubling scenario.

BoxedInnBoxed Inn: Panic Room is, in many ways, a really superlative escape game. Lengthy, clever and involved, you'll have to use all of the room's many resources (often in the form of modern technology) to escape. Along with the usual "use object A with code B to solve puzzle C" room escape fare, the game serves in part to showcase some of the types of puzzles (both classic and original) that fill Samgine's website; one in particular, a puzzle called PaintBox that involves manipulating the colors of boxes using various buttons, is especially interesting. While on the whole the game's puzzles are great, there are, unfortunately, a few instances of questionable leaps of "logic" being needed to progress. One puzzle in particular I found nearly inexplicable, but finally was able to crack with a bit of trial-and-error. Also, being able to hear the game is nice but not vital. At one point you'll need to program a remote, and hearing the "beep" of the buttons will help you do so; however, as long as you follow the directions carefully, you should be fine.

The graphics go beyond mere excellence; they are literally photo-realistic. This gives the game an added edge of realism, making it all the more immersive and entertaining. The interface is mainly user-friendly (No pixel-hunting! Automatic save feature!), though the inventory system can be initially confusing. Clicking a collected item will bring up a larger picture of it, allowing you to manipulate the object and sometimes discover new information or clues; it is not, however, necessary to click on an item in order to use it within the room itself. For example, at some point during the game you will collect a CD. Clicking on the disk drive of the room's laptop will automatically place the CD in the drive, without you needing to select it from the inventory. It's a little perplexing, and I'm not sure why the game's developers chose to configure the interface in this way, but once you get the hang of the system it ceases to be an inconvenience.

Boxed Inn: Panic Room is an enormously impressive escape game, particularly considering that it is Samgine's first venture into the genre. While the game does have room for improvement, particularly in regards to the inventory interface and handful of imperfectly logical moments, it bodes extremely well for the developer's future creations. Hopefully this is just the first in a very long line of games to come! Enjoy.

Boxed Inn Walkthrough

  • Pick up cellphone from the hearth. Oh dear, you haven't paid your bill!

  • Turn left to see the couch.

  • Pick up remote control from the couch.

  • Click on the right segment of the picture to reveal a safe.

  • Turn left.

  • Pick up the envelope (on the floor below the elephant). Examine the envelope.

  • Look at the central picture closely. It is a word scramble. Click and drag each letter to solve the puzzle.

  • Solution to the word scramble: Yucca holds hidden camera.

  • Click on the plant on top of the elephant. What a coincidence, it's a yucca plant!

  • Click on the elephant to reveal another puzzle.

  • This is a rotating tile puzzle. Rotate the tiles until all the color sides match up. To start: rotate the top left tile twice until the green segment is facing to the right. Then rotate the second tile on the top row until its green side is facing to the left. From there you can keep rotating the other tiles until they all match up.

  • Here's a screenshot of the solution if you get stuck.

  • Once the puzzle is solved a drawer will open to reveal a key. Take the key.

  • Back up.

  • Now click on the briefcase for a close up.

  • Click on the lock of the briefcase and it should open up.

  • A black light (ultraviolet light) is revealed. Take it.

  • Back up and turn right twice until you are facing the fireplace.

  • Click on the light switch to the right of the fireplace and turn off the lights.

  • Turn left twice and click on the black light in your inventory. It should now be shining on the walls.

  • Move the mouse pointer underneath the chess picture and the black light will reveal a grid with numbers. screenshot. Gee, the grid appears to match the word scramble picture.

  • Match the numbers on the grid to the corresponding letters on the solved word scramble. 1-r, 2-e, 3-c, 4-y, 5-c, 6-l, 7-e. That spells "recycle". Nice sentiment.

  • Turn right twice and turn the lights back on.

  • Click on the thermostat to the left of the fireplace for a close up.

  • Click on the buttons on the bottom of the thermostat to rotate. Rotate until it spells "recycle".

  • Open the bottom panel of the thermostat.

  • Notice the note saying that the password is PaintBox.

  • There are two buttoms labeled "hold" and "next" (hold on top, next underneath) and a digital display. The puzzle is to push a combination of "next" and "hold" until the display shows a clear 6 digit number.

  • Solution: next, next, next, hold, next, next. The number that will be displayed is 450792.

  • Back up and look at the fireplace. Place the yucca plant to the right of the Boxed Inn sign on the mantle.

  • Turn right to look at the wide-screen TV. Notice it says M-Show. That is the TV model.

  • Click on the DVD player for a close up. Push the eject button and take the DVD. Back up.

  • Turn left twice until you are looking at the couch. Use the numbers from the thermostat puzzle on the safe in groups of two.

  • From top to bottom: 45 07 92.

  • When the safe opens take the wallet. Click on the wallet several times to open it up and take the credit card. Let's go shopping!

  • Or, instead of shopping, click on the laptop for a close up.

  • Enter the password: PaintBox and hit enter. Be careful, the password is case sensitive.

  • You have opened to a puzzle. The idea is to get the boxes all the same color (red).

  • Number the buttons from left to right. Click the buttons in the following order: 3, 4, 1, 4, 2, 4. This will give you the name SamG123.

  • Click on the e-mail tab on the laptop screen. The username is SamG123. The password will fill in automatically. Hit enter.

  • Read the e-mail about the instructional video and download the file. Hope his virus protection is up to date!

  • Go back and read the e-mail about disconnected service. Click on the link in the e-mail to pay the cell phone bill online.

  • Use the information from the credit card and the envelope to make the payment.

  • The information is:

    1. Card Holder: Sam Gine.

    2. Zip Code is 12345.

    3. Account number is: 8749 9333 2456 0000.

    4. Expiration date is: 0508.

  • Once the information is entered hit "authorize" to make the payment. Yay, cell phone service!

  • Now click on the remote tab.

  • Open the dvd player on the laptop.

  • Click on the open drawer to place the dvd and close it.

  • Click on "SPG_Video.avi" and then click "add video".

  • "SPG_Video.avi" should now be in the right-hand box (destination). Click on "Burn DVD" and wait for the dvd to burn.

  • Once the burn is complete close the program. Open the dvd player and take the disk.

  • Back up and turn right twice to face the TV.

  • Hope you remembered how to program the remote!

  • Click on the remote control in your inventory.

  • Click on the "set" button and hold for at least 4 seconds.

  • Enter the numbers 8347 and then click on the enter button. Notice that the numbers are missing from the keypad. It is a standard keypad, 1-2-3, 4-5-6, 7-8-9, and the 0 between the enter and clear button.

  • Turn the tv off and on to make sure the remote is working (push the on/off button twice).

  • Close down the remote and click on the dvd player for a close up.

  • Open the dvd tray and click on it to place your newly burned dvd.

  • Close the tray and back up.

  • Pull up the remote and use the channel button to change the channels until the training video appears (or just sit there and watch "Shark Week", up to you).

  • Put away the remote and watch the training video. It loops continuously, so don't worry if you miss it the first time around.

  • Turn left to face the fireplace.

  • Click on the thermostat for a close up.

  • There's a little on/off switch on the lower right, click until it is "on".

  • Back up.

  • The "Boxed Inn" sign is now gone. Time to program the remote!

  • Pull up the remote from your inventory.

  • Click on the "set" button and hold for at least 4 seconds.

  • Enter the numbers 1238 and then click on the enter button.

  • Click on the on/off button. If you programmed it correctly, a puzzle will appear where the sign used to be.

  • At this point click on the cell phone in your inventory and click on it to open it. You have a text message.

  • Click on the silver button above the keypad to read the text message. This tells you what you need to solve the final puzzle.

  • Click on the puzzle for a close up.

  • The object of this puzzle is to get all of the squares filled with different numbers using the buttons at the bottom.

  • There are probably many different solutions, but here's one:

  • Number the buttons from 1 to 4 (left to right) and push in the following sequence: 4, 1, 4, 1, 4, 1, 4, 1, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4.

  • Back up and you are out!

I cannae figure out how to set the 'mote. I've found a model number and two possible matches in the list, but when I put them in they are not working. I've tried with an ascending and descending numerical keypad, but still nothing. Any hints?

Reply

solved the color box puzzle , opened the white safe box, solved the arranging words puzzle on the wall........... now what

Reply

Billy Nitro, it's pretty straightforward once you've got the instructions. Hold down the set button until you hear the beep (5 seconds) to clear what you set it for and then hold it again for 3 seconds (until the beep) to set a new one.

Personally, I'm stuck on a) the control panel puzzle, b) the keypad puzzle, and c) the panel painting puzzle...

I've got what appears to be a blacklight, and I haven't found out what that's for yet, and I don't know where my credit card is.

Reply

Billy;

You've held the set button down for three seconds and waited for the beep? After that, it should be the code for M-SHOW (assuming it's not random, which I doubt)

I myself am stuck at

finding the ZIP/credit card code. Being only 15, I'm not accustomed to cards and envelopes =/

This is the one of the first games I've managed to beat on my own! One of the puzzles I just managed to get by luck, but it worked and it got me out.

Reply

Oh yes, Billy; you might not be hitting enter after you're done?

Reply
Billy Nitro August 12, 2009 1:06 AM

Lhyzz:

All of those things are related. Once you find out where to use the blacklight, the rest should fall right into place.

Reply
Billy Nitro August 12, 2009 1:11 AM

Ven:

No, I was/am hitting enter, but I still must be overlooking a step or possibly inputting the incorrect code. I have M-SHOW as well, but there's another model number MOHS-W, and I'm not sure which way I should be looking at it. Maybe I have programmed it...Is there some sort of indication?

And the Zip Code is a five digit reference number for an area in a city or state, and on addresses is written after the state. I don't think I need a spoiler tag for this, but mine is 12345.

Reply

I don't know what to do with the remote or the laptop password.

As for the blacklight:

What would you need to do before turning any flashlight on?

try turning off the main lights!

I have solved some of the other puzzles, but I don't understand wich ones you are having problem with. Panel, control panel and keypad aren't specific enough.

Reply

Hrm. I can't 'hold down' the Set button, I can only click it. Holding the mouse button on it doesn't seem to do anything different than just clicking it.

It seems like I should be able to click somewhere on the TV to find out what model it is, too, but if that's the case it must be a small pixel indeed.

A note for one of the other commenters: UV lights work better in the dark.

Reply

Hmm, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong in typing in the cell phone bill stuff. I'm pretty sure I have all the right information..

Reply

Hmm...

Definitely holding down 'set' 'till it beeps when you release it, inputting the code for the M-SHOW that's further up the top of the list (heh), then hitting enter? You should be able to change channels afterwards.

Up to what may be the last puzzle now, whee :3

Reply

I think I'm down to the last puzzle. It's the control panel above the fireplace, in the picture frame. 10 digits, a bunch of buttons that rotate, shuffle, and do other strange things.

The text message on the phone probably refers to this puzzle, I think I'm supposed to make them all different numbers, but I've been playing with the buttons for awhile and haven't had much luck.

Reply

So far, it hasn't been too difficult. I am stuck trying to burn the DVD, of all things. It looks like the file is already added, but burn refuses my advances.

Reply
Billy Nitro August 12, 2009 1:23 AM

Yes, I tried turning it off and on. I did have it before but I messed it up due to my being dumb. I'm on the last puzzle as well.

How frustrating >:/

Spend a lot of time trying to figure out the computer password! (I had a few but none works!) Then I read the solutions to know that the one I thought was the right one was really right! I'm not sure why it doesn't work here. I press enter and nothing.. gonna try a different browser.

Diego: case sensitive.

And, whoo, I'm out. Can't explain how I finished that last puzzle, though I could think it out if I wanted to: I know what the buttons do.

First time without a walkthrough :D

Billy Nitro August 12, 2009 1:28 AM

Welp! I got it, but I can't really tell you how I did it. As far as I can tell

the button with the arrows rotates all the numbers clockwise, the button with '123' on it rotates them counterclockwise once, the button with the two diamonds and the line makes the top two numbers on the left side equidistant from five (i.e. 6 and 4, 7 and 3, 8 and 2, or 9 and 1 but I've found no consistent pattern), and the last button increases all the digits in the bottom row by one.

Reply

Billy, the '123' button:

actually arranges them in numerical order :)

Reply

I finally got it also, with random clicking. I don't think all your button interpretations are correct, but I have no idea what the correct answers are...

This game is beautiful! I haven't gotten too far, but I just wanted to comment on the gorgeousness of the graphics and the plentitude of puzzles in the beginning. I hope this will keep me busy for awhile.

Reply

Gah, I almost had it beaten when Flash acted up! And of course the autosave failed...

Reply
Billy Nitro August 12, 2009 1:38 AM

For the last puzzle, there is a simple method:

Press the bottom right button until all numbers on the bottom row are 5. Click on the arrows to make all the digits shift clockwise, and click on the right button again to increase the digits on the bottom row. That should make the top row 50000 and the bottom row 66661. Continue shifting the numbers around after each increase in digits, and you should end up with something like

87650
94321

Yuh!

I can't program the remote. I can only click the set button, there doesn't seem to be a way to hold it down. Holding down the left mouse button on it doesn't seem to do anything more than clicking it. :/

Reply

Same thing happened to me Zach. Anyways, I'm finally on the last puzzle and I know what I'm supposed to do I just can't figure out how to do it.

To anyone stuck on configuring the remote, even if you did it right.. you probably won't realize it until you actually use the remote.

Reply

Had to update Flash in order to get the remote to work properly. After that, escaping naturally followed. :P

Reply

I updated Flash to the latest version, but to no avail. I cannot program the remote. (Nor could I ever find a model number.)

I give up. It might have to do with using a Mac, but that doesn't make much sense. I tried Firefox and Safari.

FYI: If autosave isn't working, make sure you have allowed Flash storage for that website (Right-click, choose settings, and set the allow to 10Kb.)

I'm out? I don't feel as though I'm finished, though. I see people mentioning a blacklight. I never found the blacklight. But then again, I never solved that puzzle on top of the statue where you have to rotate the colored tiles. And what about that locked box? I never opened that either.

Thanks to Billy Nitro for helping me solve that last puzzle above the fireplace.

Reply

I am not able to program the remote either. I got everything solved, but the set button doesn't make any beep when I release it. Updated to the newest x64 Flash player a minute ago, still nothing.

Reply

Found out how you can program the remote even if your Flash player doesn't work properly. Click the set button with left and right mouse button at the same time, then wait for 3 seconds and click away. It takes some practice, but this way you can fool Flash player into thinking you actually held it for 3 seconds and it's gonna make a beep.

Reply

Remote difficulties:

Make sure you're not holding the button down too long. Don't listen for the beep as a cue to release, the beep comes AFTER you release the button. Visually, on my end anyway, it never looks like the button is being held down and I was convinced it wasn't working, but if you don't lean on the button too long, it should work.

The diamonds/line button:

If the first 2 numbers are duplicates, will add 1 to the first number and subtract 1 from the second.

I got totally stuck - I guess i should burn a DVD using the notebook, but dunno how.

Still, this game is a seriously great one. Remarkable graphics, easy navigation, no pixel-hunting (so far, at least), easy and logical use of items, logical puzzles, not too hard/easy, diverse... It's got everything. By far the best room escaper I've seen in a good while.

Thought the game was great, not super hard. But I did have a problem with the remote, drove me crazy. The thing that seemed to work was not holding it down waiting for the beep, but holding it down letting go then hearing a beep (if that makes any sense). I'm glad to have seen this game on here, the games recommended here never cease to entertain me.

Man that was kinda tough. Had to look at the walkthrough for one thing, but it was something minor:

The scramble puzzle on the wall - I tried moving the tiles around but only while the light was off. It won't let you move them with the light off...

Overall it was a great game!

Reply

Thanks ginny for the walkthrough. it was kinda long but i liked it just the same.

Reply

Is there any way to reset the final puzzle?

Reply

I've been looking at the tv for 10 minutes and I still couldn't see where the model name is.

Reply

You need to:

Place the yucca plant on the mantle next to the Boxed Inn sign first. The yucca is a camera and when you place it in that position it should transmit the image of the tv model.

Reply

Based on the suggestion above, I determined it had nothing to do with Flash, just a bad design on the remote. You hold the butotn for 3 seconds, but the button does not depress.

Would it have killed the developer (after all those amazing graphics) to have shown the button depressed while the button was held down??

Halfway through the game froze for me and my progress was lost. I was trying to access the computer, which I had already done a number of times.

Reply

After completing this game, I am compelled to offer my take on it. First the problems:

The Thermostat/Security Box:

Not the first "recycle" puzzle but the second "hold/next" puzzle. While it may have been perfectly logical, it sure didn't seem very scientific. But it's quickly solved even if you press buttons willy-nilly. So a minor complaint.

Burning DVD (with solution):

After downloading the video from the email, this tripped me up for awhile until I figured out that you must highlight "SPG_Video.avi" under the left "FILES" box. I find this superfluous. But again, a minor complaint (afterward, I discovered grinnyp's walkthrough thankfully mentions this).
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s233/outerspaceturtle/DVD.jpg

The Remote Code:

I'm talking about the first one. For me, the "M" in M-SHOW was illegible on the camera shot. Okay, no biggie. The laptop gives a list of codes; there are three possibilities, so you try all three. So the last minor complaint except...

Programming Remote (with solution):

"Holding down" the SET button to program the remote was a bear. While I finally got it to work both times after numerous tries, I still couldn't say exactly what made it work when it did. It was not a Flash update issue, and the left mouse button (per the comments) did nothing for me. Only after finishing the game and going back to play with it over and over did I find a consistent method:

Press the set button by holding down the mouse button (it won't show it's being pressed). As soon as you hear the beep (immediately after pressing), count "one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand" and release. You'll hear a second beep. Now punch in the numbers and press enter.

This will work every time. How is this any different than the laptop directions you ask? It isn't, I guess. But then why is it such a problem for so many? Because it's too hard to use. To me, this is a flaw; plain & simple. Fix it.

As I progressed through the game (on my own), I began to wonder what puzzle Jess found "nearly inexplicable." I soon found out.

The Final Puzzle (with explanation):

I may be wrong that Jess was referring to this one. But for me, it was just too tough. I finally had to resort to the game's walkthrough. What did I find? A solution with no explanation as to why that's the solution. Nothing saying how the puzzle works. JIG's own walkthrough had the same problem, with the identical solution merely substituting 1 & 4 for L & R. This is a rare lapse and not a complaint about grinnyp. Hands-down, she writes the best and most thorough walkthroughs on the web. But some of us want to do it ourselves and just want to know how the darn thing operates. Here's how:

1st button (curved arrows) rotates all numbers clockwise.
2nd button (123) arranges all numbers sequentially in ascending order.
3rd button (diamonds) only affects two top left numbers and only if identical. Increasing first and decreasing second by one. Only works once since they will no longer be duplicates afterward.
4th button (>>) increases all bottom numbers by one.

Some may say: "Just play with it until you figure out what the buttons do." Oh yeah? I maintain that after experimenting with the buttons, you're left with a mess of random digits so confusing you can't tell what the buttons do! The fix?: Allow the puzzle to be reset without having to start all over!

So after all this griping and complaining, what's my assessment of the game?: Five out of five. One of the best escape game I've ever played. Unlike Jess, I found absolutely zero content that I would consider abstract or illogical. The puzzles and art raise the bar for the genre as a whole. The fact that I ultimately couldn't do the last part on my own is no reason to knock it. Top notch.

But for chrissakes, fix the remote and add a reset button for the final puzzle.

Thanks for the walkthrough, grinnyp!

So the blacklight clue told us

how to figure out the "recycle" bit on the keypad.

Going with Bad Dog's assessment above, but would say can't go full 5 out of 5 because of some of the challenges that just became too much for me to overcome for a perfect score. The ending puzzle just lost me and will start the entire game again later to tackle it fresh. That said I did enjoy the puzzles for the most part, but will add there seemed a bit too many number arranging ones for my personal taste, but at least when one figures them out (or reads the answers above) they all make sense.

Graphics were solid and I really enjoyed some of the more clever elements such as:

The plant as the camera and having to place the plant/camera strategically later to solve the model number. And having the Yucca Plant as a code to the letter scramble puzzle. And additionally having to move the plant to access the one puzzle. It all connected nicely in a narrative/progression sense.

Right now the game is at a solid 4 out of 5. The remote didn't bother me as much, but yes please RESET option for the final puzzle!

For people who are having problems programming the remote:

I think holding down the "set" button only works if you are facing the TV or the control panel

Overall, the game was pretty good, just the remote control was a bit fussy and the final puzzle was a mess of numbers.

I don't know if it was just my crummy laptop speakers, but did the sound effect/music at the end of the game(when the fireplace moves up to reveal the surprise door) come out a tad screechy?

Yes! This is the first room escape game that I've ever been able to complete without a walkthrough (and yet still feel more than sufficiently challenged). Woohoo!

Reply

Started great. But then i needed the walkthrough.
If that happens once, its no big deal but if i need it more then three times its too much.

At least its better then most japanese games where i have to use the walkthrough because there is a place where i clicked for a hundred times but didnt find the right pixel.
In this case its just annoying logic that does not make any sense to me.
Anyway
Weekday escape normally is a day i skip at JIG today i came pretty far. But in the end . Not my cup of tea.
I hate the idea of that getting stuck is not my mistake.

Why is there no way to reset the last puzzle? *cries*

You can reset the last puzzle by closing the game then reloading ("Continue") at the main menu.

Thought the realism was very cool, reminiscent of another "realistic" type... something with a prison cell? Anyway, its a twist in the genre I seem to really enjoy.

Puzzles were all logical enough, but I habitually dislike the "win at a puzzle game to advance" type obstacles. Not sure I can finish it due entirely to what seems to be the final puzzle. A reason I like room escapes is that it provides an interesting logic puzzle of a very different sort than the "rubik's cube" model...

Hate to be unable to finish a game because of my incompetence at one of the minigames.

Really great game in so many ways, but the remote was pointlessly frustrating. The numbers on the panic box and the last puzzle didn't make sense to me. I got them by trial and error, and I don't know what I did. I don't like that. (The other puzzles were really easy. I don't like the uneveness of it.)

The rest of the game was one of the all time best escape games I've ever played - Really amazing. I love when they are strongly based in "real world" logic.

On a Macbook Pro, I managed to program the remote by clicking on "Set" quickly several times, alternately holding down the ctrl button (to simulate a right-hand button). Thank you, Arek, for setting me on the right track for that one :-)

@Czaerana

Thank you for that, as it does indeed work. I hope this helps some players who try to solve the puzzle on their own. However, I will note that it would occur to few gamers to do that and it is awkward as well. Every other puzzle in the game resets simply by "browsing" away from it. Indeed, this is how most escape games work when they do not have an actual reset button for particular puzzles.

This issue is simply this: a simple reset function would encourage many players to solve the puzzle themselves by experimenting and learning how it operates; what the buttons do. They could then form a strategy; see what works and what does not, and compensate as they start again. As it is, I'll bet some will simply give up and resort to the game's own walkthrough. This can diminish the experience of the game for some players who might have otherwise loved it.

I can't get the computer to work, I know that it is hard to do but it's hard to see the enter button, I've tried using the k-board button but no good. Help :/

Hi everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to talk/comment about our game, we made a few updates after listening to your feedback...

I believe Bad Dog sums it all with "Top notch... But for chrissakes, fix the remote and add a reset button for the final puzzle."

First of all, let me say remote controls never seem to work in real life either! To limit the amount of further frustration, we tweaked the remote to be 'less sensitive' and want to know if anyone still has issues programming the remote.

Also, we simply added a reset button to the last puzzle.

Ok I figured what you meant about the password. It's so easy a caveman can do it.

Samgine, thanks for listening (very cool!) and for producing the game!

you probably already figured this out but based on the walkthrough you can actually shortcut to save time. Here's how:

Pick up remote from the couch.

go to air thermostat, and spell recycle using the symbols there.

press bottom of box to open and click on,then back up.

bring up remote then hold setup for 4 seconds, then punch in 1238 then ok.

Turn power on.

click on box and numbering 1-4,click 1,4,1,4,1,4,1,4,4,4,4,4

Back up and you are done.

just thought you'd like to know, but you don;t have to do the shortcut.

Yes... I found absolutely nothing illogical either to everyone else who is commenting on that. I do agree that the inventory system was a little odd and made random clicking a more viable option, but I almost never felt it was necessary. This is definitely one of my top games, great job!

I got stuck on burning the DVD, it was a dumb mistake:

  • Click the Eject button on the computer's keyboard

  • Click the CD tray, so the DVD goes in

  • Click the Eject button again to insert the DVD

  • The program will open, then you actually have to click the filename so it appears on the right-hand side of the screen (this is what screwed me up)

  • Then click ADD FILES

  • Then click "BURN"

  • You'll get a progress bar on the screen. Once it's done, pop out the DVD

Nice game! Like others I found very little illogical -- well, except for the

    paintbox puzzle.

I didn't know I needed to make it all red; I thought I needed to look for a pattern somewhere.

And thanks for the improvements! I was reading through the comments thinking, "Well, I didn't have a problem with that," and then I saw that samgine had fixed them.

    I needed help with the

    camera placement

    and the

use of the black light, except that when I used it I found that I'd already solved that puzzle. :P

One remaining bug, at least I think it's a bug:

I put the blank DVD in the laptop as soon as I found it, and then after unlocking the password I got a "Burn DVD?" message every time I went to the computer. Which I guess may be how they work. But when I was actually trying to burn the DVD, I got an "unresponsive script" error and had to restart the game. I don't think my Flash is outdated, but I could be wrong.

Hmm, seems like quite a few people had problems with the SET button? It worked perfect for me. D: Eh..... Loved this game, by the way. ^_^ Except that last puzzle, lol... I hate puzzles like that. No patience for them, so..needless to say, I scrambled for the walkthrough. ^^' Other than that, very enjoyable and completely logical game.

I managed to complete this game all on my own!

    But...

I did this without opening the safe behind the picture and I didn't pay the mobile phone bill on the laptop...

What I was trying to do was get the number sequence on the fireplace to read 0123456789 and I ended up making the actual sequence by pure luck!

Kinda feels like I've missed out on important bits of the game...

Guess I'll just have to give it another go! ;)

I just started playing so I'll get back on the quality of the puzzles and game flow.

but 5 stars on the visuals so far.....

special thanks to samgine for this amazing game!

and, not to forget, to Billy Nitro, for the spoiler abut the final puzzle. I had all numbers right, following the first spoiler from the walkthrough, but it didn't work. but, after using your method, the hidden door appeared...
