JohnBThe Bonte Room 2 is the sequel to Bart Bonte's first room escape game we featured back in December. The game shares a lot with its predecessor, including simplistic art style, room layout, and a strange animal that's integral to solving the game's puzzles.

bonteroom2.gifThe game idea is as simple as they come: you're in a room, you need to get out. The Bonte Room 2 doesn't try to woo you with a fancy storyline. You'll start staring at the locked door with a parrot swinging in a nearby cage. Turning around you'll find objects such as a cactus, a cold fireplace, and a peanut vending machine. That's right, peanut vending machine. Nice idea, isn't it?

With a little clicking you'll quickly learn your way around the game. The puzzles are straightforward enough for novice gamers but still satisfying for old pros. Most of what you'll be doing is finding items and seeing how they can interact with the environment. While the riddles are logical, you'll need to do some strange things with peanuts that doesn't exactly fall under the "normal" category. I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

The Bonte Room 2 is a short but satisfying point-and-click game. Give it a try, then go get some peanuts to snack on.

Play.

Thanks to Roos, Jodyk, Remko, Laziekats and Lily for sending this one in!

Got a coin but that's it! Any early help?

Thinking the numbers have something to do with number of times to make the parrot chirp?

cactus flavored roasted peanuts

Reply
wholesomeolsen July 7, 2006 6:01 PM

coin: vent screws

ruler: stop vent and get wire from bottom of stove

wire: put in moving blade then pierce cactus

card: get from stopped fan then insert into penut machine for peanuts

peanuts: put in cactus juice and give to bird (unsure about the bird and the peanuts)

that is all

Just escaped the room!

To beat the game, feed the parrot roasted, cactus-flavored peanuts. The numbers on the blackboard tell you how to activate the heating.

turn the fire on by pressing 1,2 then turn on the fire then 3, turn off then 2 then turn on button then one follow the numbers on the chalk board and turn on when they are underlined. put the fan grid in the fire, soak peanuts in milk and roast then feed to bird and he throws a key.

Jjenjjen July 7, 2006 6:27 PM

I think the numbers on the board have something to do with

the sequence in pressing the buttons on the fireplace, although I've tried this and nothing happens. It might work later on though

I have everything that Ted has too, but I don't know what to do now.

Fireplace:

Check the blackboard, then start poking buttons.

Before I start playing the game... I gotta know... this doesn't have any pixel hunts, does it? I hate it when puzzle creators employ them.

Reply

To turn on the fire:

You need to use the sequence on the blackboard. Use the buttons on the fire place to do this and only the underlined numbers (ie 1 and 3) should stay lit. From left to right the buttons are 1, 2 and 3.
Click 1 and 2 and then press the red button.
Then click 3 and then the red button again.
Click on 2 then red again. Then click on 1.
If you did this right the fire should start.

Can't believe I actually finished one on my own :O

hints to turn on the heater:

The numbers on the blackboard tell you how to turn it on

You can't turn on the heater by just pressing the three white buttons.

What's special about some of the numbers on the blackboard?

Reply

Very disappointing. There is no rhyme or reason.

baba44713 July 10, 2006 6:49 AM

Yeah. I don't like this one too.

There's no logic in the solution. When I finally obtained the key I wasn't the least happy that I solved it, it was more of a "huh?"

Perfect escape-the-room flashie should be logical. Not click-everything-with-everything.

Oh well. At least it wasn't a pixel hunt like that dreaded 2+2 thing jay games suggested a month or so ago.

Reply

Finished it :P There's a neat little bug where you can get 2 of the keycards. Just put the first keycard you get into the peanut machine, then go back to the fan. Stop the blades again if they aren't stopped, and then click where the keycard was before, and you've got yourself a shiny new second keycard! No reason at all to do this, but in case you wanted to have one.

Another very nice room-escape game :D

here is a tip for fireplace:

u have to keep lit the 3rd and the 1st button to turn on fire but u can't do that in any order u have to do that in the order written in blackboared remember the underline number in blackboared is tells u which number have to lit the red round button helps u in that if it is activated u can lit the number so combine the buttons and blackboared order it tells u first press 12 pressed, then 3 (underlined) to do that press red button and 3 then it is 2 but it is not underlined so u dont have to lit it turn off red button then there is 1 it is underlined so turn on red button then press 1st button and the fire start on
