echogenesis.jpgEcho Genesis is another digital media feast for the senses with a heavy emphasis on aural stimulation. Let your mouse guide you as you float dreamily through five (5) unique environments while interacting with the elements contained within. A simple click, drag or mouse-over is all you will need to explore the variety of ways in which each environment may be dynamically affected.

Created in Flash for a senior project at Drexel University by a team of five (5) very talented students, including Bell Brothers John and Dan, Kevin Becker, Nick Zorio, and music composer, Ed Bagden.

Truly an immersing experience that surrounds you with pleasant sights and sounds while you play. Stereo headphones strongly recommended.

Cheers to Nikola for the link. =)

Hah, this is a pretty neat gadget. I found this a few days ago, looking through newgrounds, never thought to suggest it. Good find Nikola!

I can tell that the loops are from GarageBand (a Mac program used for mixing music.)

Reminds me a lot of HyperCard. I love it.

My favorite part is where

you can click the deer's head multiple times to build up an impressive set of antlers on it, which weigh him down — and which will then crumble to dust if you click them, allowing him to stand up again

its so short
fun though

I was expecting more. It definitely has more potential, although the sound was great.

Does anyone agree?

Yeah, Bubba (I love that handle by the way), I agree.

I really wanted to enjoy this game, to be honest, but I felt like it was lacking something. While overall I like the premise of an open-ended game (ref: Will Wright's Spore) but when the games are this short, they lack the ability to become fleshed out. If a game is as short as this, I much rather it have some sort of objective or point (everyone complained about Somnium Orbis' length but i rather enjoyed the game).

Even the graphics feel like they fall short. They seem to bounce between simple and elegant, and that just doesn't work for me.

The music was quite good. Being an audio-oriented guy, if a game/experience has good music, I can always give it some good points.

Still, like I said, I really tried to like this game, but I just feel like it fell short.

That was nice, and felt like an appropiate length to me :).
Just a pleasant little journey, I never felt it was supposed to be a "game"

Yes, that was nice. These kinds of 'small' things (things such as mentioned in the spoiler above) should be included in 'real' games as well. Tiny details that don't necessarily are relevant to the main object make the game taste nice.

Very well done.....didn't think of it as a fame, thought of it as something to do while bored..BTW Jay, luv the site!

Great! Just what I was in the mood for- pooping on spiders...

what do you do with the frog on the walrus

Did anyone else notice the mermaid that poked her head out from the left when you were underwater? I tried clicking on her but she was too fast.

Hey, Coolie, where IS that mermaid? I checked in the underwater cave and that ocean scene, but I'm asking where was it on the screne.

This was a very cool non-game. I have a question though. In the production blogs, it mentions a desert and a night sky. Any idea how to get to those?

Reply

Walk Through: how to get places.

From the forest (starting place) click and hold the upper-middle area to get to the ocean or the rock (middle-right) to get to the cave.

From the ocean click the upper-left area to get to the snowy place or the upper-right area to get to the swamp.

From the swamp click the middle-upper to get to the cave and the upper-right to get the forest(starting place)

From the cave click the upper-left to get to the snowy place, or click the right to get to the ocean.

From the snowy place click the bottom-middle to get to the swamp or the top-right to get to the forest.

I don't get the point of the game
