There's a fair amount of Japanese text in Robot Room, and at times it can be frustrating to find potentially-helpful notes written in a foreign language. However, despite the language barrier, Robot Room is solvable; more difficult, certainly, than if there was an English translation, but solvable nonetheless. It's a nice room escape with some interesting and quirky puzzles, and you definitely ought to give it a shot.

dancing robots that have phone symbols and colors on their backs on tv just does everything, but help crack the code xD
and being stuck is what 4/5 people that can't understand it are. still a good game, though.
so, where's everybody at? i'm stuck.
i have no clue what to do with:
the opened panel with the red and blue buttons. the panel says that they maybe mean up or down but since i don't read kanji (i think that's what it is), i can't tell if it's upside down or what they mean.
I'm part of the way through. So far, I've "solved" the pink robot and the yellow robot.
To solve the pink robot:
Use the blue remote from the dresser on the TV, and watch the pattern of dancers. Mentally number them left-to-right, top-to-bottom, so that red is 1 and brown is 9. Then, pixelhunt for a hotspot with a color code.
At the feet of the pink robot, you'll find a card with four colors on it. Those colors correspond to the numbers you just derived from the dancers.
Punch those into the four-digit keypad to solve the pink robot. The code is
3194.
To solve the yellow robot:
Grab the pointer on top of the television, if you don't have it already.
Get the flashlight from under the coffee table and the battery from the pink robot. Combine, and look to the computer for the clue on where to look.
Illuminate under the dresser, then poke the shiny spot with the pointer to get the key.
Use the key to unlock the dresser, then use the red remote on the television. Follow the television's instructions.
Now I'm stuck--I think I'm supposed to solve the orange robot next, and I'm partially there, but I haven't figured it out yet. Anybody else in the same spot, or hopefully a little further?
i'm in the same spot =)
i've got:
flathead screwdriver, semi-assembled (legs/torso) blue robot, blue button, flashlight, extendo pole, red button
err... not sure if that was my fault or not. my bad! anyways, side note:
What is
that thingy under the cabinet thing? on the computer it looks like it's growing mushrooms or something?? wha?
Update: I just solved the orange robot.
First, use the screwdriver to take the panel off the wall by the orange robot.
This is a terrible spoiler because I don't know how or why it worked, or which part of it was correct, but: I held down the red button for several seconds, then, with my mouse still clicked, slid over to the blue button and clicked it. Held it down for several seconds, then slid my still-clicked mouse back to the red button. The robot's arms came down and I have no idea why.
Almost finished! (I hope!)
scottique:
it makes sense now *facepalm* you hold the blue button (DOWN), then raise the mouse click on the red button(UP). why didn't i think of that =(
how? all i did was
solved the orange robot, connect the mic, and connect the blue robot pieces. what next? It has to do with that brown thing, doesn't it?
I never got the brown thing
After you get the orange robot things:
Connect the microphone to the laptop
Connect the flashlight to the blue guy
Place the blue guy in the vent thing above the sitting guy
Go to the laptop and click on the mic, and watch the cut scene thing
Go back to the blue guy, get the key.
Use key on door. :D
how do you connect the microphone to the laptop?
Sigh. Pixel hunting to find the hot-spot. Stuff that doesn't work until you've been shown a movie. Totally invisible items to retrieve. Tools that could do something obvious
like a nice long pointer to knock stuff off of high places or push a distant button
but do something else. And a two-pixel hot-spot
to plug the mic into the laptop
which I still haven't found, and won't bother with anymore. And the language barrier isn't really their fault because obviously English isn't their native language, but I guess prefer the elegance of puzzles that rely more on picture than written words anyway. Oh well. At least there are other escapes to play :).
When I click all around the robots I feel like I'm frisking them.
It's actually kind of dirty.
anelson - To plug the mic in:
While you are zoomed out on the computer, click on the front left side of it. That should give you a close up of the computer from a front left angle. You'll see the place to plug the mic in on the right side.
That drove me wacky too and it turned out to be simplier than expected.
Weirdness.
Glomer:
I managed to assemble the blue robot going body, legs, shoulders/arms, head.
YAY!! I beat it, and I WON A...
White T-Shirt and a punk-rocker guy who needs that T-Shirt.
How odd.
For the blue robot, I had to
start with the body open and add the legs and arms and head. That was the only way it would work for me, and believe me, I tried all the others.
This game seemed to run a bit slow for me, slow responding to clicks and stuff. Anyone else have that?
Walkthrough:
The Pink Robot
-
Spoiler
From the first screen go right.
-

It doesn't seem to turn on, but fortunately you have a battery. Drag the battery to the head of the flashlight to turn it on. Zoom out and go left once.
-

The Orange Robot
-
Spoiler
Go left once and use the screwdriver on the black panel.
-
Spoiler
This reveals a blue and red button. If you examine the black panel on the floor, behind it is a piece of paper which says blue is down, red is up. Having problems?
SpoilerTry clicking the blue button, but while your mouse button is pressed down, move it over to the red button and let go. Easy!
-
Spoiler
Grab the microphone and the blue arms.
The Escape
-
Spoiler
Head left twice back to the starting screen. Examine the blue block with the hole in it. Drag the blue legs and arms to assemble them. Now add the flashlight as the head.
-
Spoiler
Zoom in on the grate above the sitting green robot. Place the newly build blue robot inside the vent. Zoom out and go left once.
-
Spoiler
Now zoom in on the keyboard of the laptop. Attach the microphone to the little gray port in the front. Click the microphone and watch the clip.
-
Spoiler
Go right once, zoom in on the grate and grab the orange key. Zoom out, use the key on the door and open it. You've escaped!
@amylu: that is apparently how i needed to do it too. stupid thing.
at the end, you see a
white t-shirt and the rocker dude and whatnot. if you click and drag on parts of the t-shirt, you can select text. a quick translation using Google tells me that the t-shirt says either
"Love's telephone number" or possibly "Love's greeting"
this is of course a rough translation, so who knows? *shrug*
The secret of the brown thing under the shelf.
as translated by Babel Fish: "Simply, like the lumber but…."
Thank God we cleared that up.
I was sorely disappointed that they gave me a police baton, but then I didn't get to wail on anything with it.
Hey, to solve the orange robot...
Press and hold the blue button down and drag to the red button.
I can't
seem to get the key (shiny spot) with the pointer
and I'm tired of pixel hunting for it, so I'm giving up :(
