Medieval Chronicles 2 - Super Unnatural
VasantJ has concocted another whodunnit for your exploration pleasure. Those of you who follow along with these series might not be surprised to learn that someone has been killed again, and there is a murder mystery to be solved. It entails an unlikely combination of archeology, a mummy, smuggled, powerful drugs gone wrong, and a professor driven to madness before finally succumbing to his final fate. Although the place is locked down, and it seems like just another investigation: the standard examination of clues, the interrogation of, I mean conversation with uncooperative witnesses, and the eureka moments upon finding clues, things are about to get darker before the cast sees the light. The only question is: is there something lurking in that darkness to get them? And what lethal weapon might Dregg have in his pocket to combat it?
Medieval Chronicles 2 - Super Unnatural is well put-together with a good number of crafty puns and clever references. Unfortunately, the quality of the English is a continuing struggle, which is really a pity since it is the main thing holding the games back. Still though, if you're willing to cut VasantJsome liberties with the grammar and occasional spelling, it's a charming game and a good puzzle to slowly unwrap like an early Christmas present. The controls to play are similar to the norm: navigate either with the mouse or keyboard, and click or [Enter] to skip through dialogue. Further details of some of the more complex details of examining clues and cross-examining witnesses are explained more in-game.
You find yourself locked in a lovely room without any window or door, and all you can hear are your footsteps clattering on wooden floor. Around the walls are few pieces of furniture, their drawers and cupboard departments are not surprisingly either locked or empty, and you need to examine everything closely to find some useful item or hint. Pay attention to details and click everywhere to find all active areas, and notice, that items in your inventory may be hiding something important too. There are many puzzles to be solved, locks to be opened and secrets to be revealed, because this room is a beginning only - prepare for few hours of gameplay and don't despair, if stuck, take a short break from playing. It helps to rearrange your thoughts. The game isn't hard, but it does take a while to figure out solution or how to continue as clues are sometimes a bit vague.
The cursor doesn't change over active areas and the game has autosave.
Have a good time with another great escape game!
