We can note that Video games, in the past decade or so have evolved into a thriving industry that captivates millions worldwide, brings billions to game developers and is slowly but surely expanding even past the projected limits.

In the last ten years, we have witnessed extreme rise and innovation in the world of video games, in all fields. We've seen super powerful GPUs that were unthinkable just a couple of years ago, and game engines that use the full power of GPUs. The great hardware gives us excellent graphics, thus creating groundbreaking visuals more than reality. We've seen how virtual reality (VR) and Augmented reality (AR) environments work and how they are evolving. We will explore what is happening and what we can expect in the future in the video gaming world.

The Current Video Gaming Scope

Older gamers will never accept that mobile gaming is a form of gaming. However, reality is that video games are no longer confined to old and familiar places like PCs and consoles. Mobile gaming has expanded to such a level where billions of users are playing games on their smartphones and tablets. According to a report by Allied Market Research, the global mobile gaming market was valued at $79.5 billion just a couple of years ago, and by 2030 is projected to reach astonishing $272.2 billion.

You may be wondering how we reached a point where mobile gaming is so profitable and widespread? Well, the answer is simply - because of the advancement of technology and software. Not to mention that is more convenient, accessible, and affordable to play on your phone.

Hardware/Technology
The technology behind video games has also advanced to new heights in the past decade, enabling more realistic, immersive, and interactive gaming experiences. GPUs are more powerful and efficient, and mass produced. This allows for users to get higher resolutions, frame rates, graphical fidelity and affordable price.

Software
Hardware and software are intertwined. As more powerful GPUs were created, game engines have also evolved, incorporating new features and technologies. You may be familiar with ray tracing with GPUs, but many do not know the use of AI to render faster graphics and give more frame rates. We have better physics, and animation from all newer games. The most influential game engines that brought this software advancements are Unreal Engine, Unity, and Frostbite, which are used to create games across multiple platforms and genres.

VR/AR

Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are two emerging technologies that have the potential to revolutionize video gaming. VR creates a fully immersive and simulated environment for the user, while AR overlays digital elements onto the real world. We've seen what the Apple Vision Pro can do with AR. And we are just at the beginning of this technology. To use VR and AR you need to use headsets, controllers, and sensors to track the user's movements and interactions, creating a more engaging and realistic gaming experience.

What Is on the Horizon for Gaming
The future looks bright, and the planned releases of hardware and software promise that. We'll Some of the trends and developments that are on the horizon are:

New GPUs and CPUs: AMD, Nvidia, and Intel are all competing to offer the best gaming hardware in 2024. AMD will launch its Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7800 XT graphics cards, based on its RDNA 3 architecture, which will offer up to three times the performance of the previous generation. Nvidia will counter with its GeForce RTX 4080 Ti and RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics cards, based on its Ampere 2 architecture, which will feature more cores, memory, and bandwidth than the original models. Intel will also debut its Arc Alchemist series of graphics cards, which will challenge AMD and Nvidia in the high-end gaming segment with its Xe-HPG architecture and ray tracing support. On the CPU front, AMD will introduce its Zen 5 architecture, which will power its Ryzen 8000 series of processors, featuring a 4nm manufacturing process and a hybrid design of high-performance and high-efficiency cores. Intel will follow with its 15th Gen Core processors, based on its Arrow Lake architecture, which will also feature a hybrid design, as well as support for DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 interface.

New consoles: The current generation of consoles, namely the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S, have been launched in late 2020, but they are still in high demand and short supply, due to the global chip shortage and the COVID-19 pandemic. Both consoles offer impressive hardware and features, such as 4K resolution, 120 FPS, ray tracing, SSD storage, and backward compatibility. However, both Sony and Microsoft are also working on new versions and updates of their consoles, to keep up with the evolving gaming market. Sony is reportedly developing a PlayStation 5 Pro, which will offer more power and performance, as well as a PlayStation VR 2, which will be a wireless VR headset compatible with the PS5. Microsoft is also rumored to be working on a Xbox Series X Mini, which will be a smaller and cheaper version of the Xbox Series X, as well as a Xbox Series S Pro, which will be a more powerful and expensive version of the Xbox Series S. Also, they mentioned that they are working on a new console that will be nothing gamers imagined. We can only hope that it is revolutionary technology that will change the game forever.

New game engines: Game engines are the software tools that enable developers to create and run video games. They provide the framework and functionality for graphics, audio, physics, animation, networking, and more. Game engines are constantly evolving and improving, to keep up with the latest technologies and trends in gaming. Some of the new game engines that are already released or to be released soon and show great promises are Unreal Engine 5, Unity 6, and the newest version of Frostbite.

Another Dimension: Blockchain and Gaming
Who's been in the digital world already knows what Blockchain is. However, this technology promises to revolutionize gaming. Blockchain gaming, also known as crypto gaming or NFT gaming, is a new category of video games that use blockchain technology to introduce unique features and functionalities. These games are built on blockchain platforms that provide a transparent and secure infrastructure for managing in-game assets, transactions, and interactions.

Blockchain gaming started with simple games like CryptoKitties, which allowed users to collect and breed digital cats on the Ethereum blockchain. Since then, blockchain gaming has evolved and expanded, with more complex and diverse games emerging on various blockchain platforms. Not only that, but thanks to blockchain, we've seen a huge revolution in crypto casinos. We have platforms that support Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin and many others. To learn more, visit some of the casino with ETH deposits sites and discover how they offer a fair and fun gaming experience.

Conclusion
The evolution of Video gaming just started. We are here to witness the golden age of technology and innovation. Together with that we will see new universes created in the gaming industry, where players will be satisfied, and developers can really use all of their potential creativity.
