Greatest Mini Games You Can Find in AAA Video Games

Video game worlds can be hauntingly expensive and nothing is more exciting than stumbling into a fun mini game during your adventure. These smaller games within games allow you to take a break from the main storyline and enjoy the developer's creativity. Below, we review the best mini games you can find in top AAA video titles.

Five Finger Fillet (Red Dead Redemption 2)
Red Dead Redemption is teeming with well-developed characters and breathtaking scenery of the Wild West. In the game, you put on your gambling hat and try your hand against farmhands, bounty hunters, and boisterous sheriffs. The online gambling experience, which offers just as much excitement as playing online roulette at Ignition Australia, gives you the option of playing Blackjack or Poker. But, every once in a while, you can go wild and play several rounds of Five Finger Fillet.
Five Finger Fillet is a fast-paced mini game that involves Arthur Morgan, a character you must protect from hurting himself. You need to push the right buttons at the exact moments they appear to keep Arthur's opponent from stabbing his hand.

If this happens, the game ends. Five Finger Fillet bears similar elements to the gambling that goes on in Red Dead Redemption but you don't need strategy. You just need to be fast and attentive - a great way to take a break.

Gwent (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)
If you love Adventure Games, The Witcher will blow your mind. Geralt goes on increasingly dangerous adventures, exploring strange lands and you get to go with him. But when the strain of worrying about your character gets to you, you can cool off with a game of Gwent. The developers of Witcher were considerate and clever enough to weave this mini game into the main narrative so it feels like you are still on an adventure. Every round involves two players drawing ten cards from a deck. Because each card offers different strength points and abilities, you must determine which cards you will use to end up with the most points by the end of round three.

Demontower (Night in The Woods)
When Mae is not running around with her friends in Possum Springs, she has the choice of playing video games in her room. According to this Wiki Fandom, you can access Demontower in Night in The Woods through Mae's laptop. This incredibly detailed 2D mini game takes you through nine levels that generate procedurally, where you control Palecat to defeat enemies and find the key in every level. Demontower is highly developed, featuring different special abilities, attack, loots, and level endings.

Orlog (Assassin's Creed Valhalla)
Developed specifically for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, this original dice game is a welcome break from the main plotline. It is somewhat complicated and it may take several rounds for you to master the rules, but it will be worth it when you do. It begins with a coin flip to determine the first player and is followed by one round of dice broken into three phases. In every phase, you must steal as many of the other player's stones as you can until they run out. This is done through the dice faces, which either defend from attacks, steal tokens, or damage enemies.

Golf (Grand Theft Auto V)
When you think of Grand Theft Auto, golf isn't the first thing that comes to mind. But this stress-free mini game is so detailed and fleshed out it could be a standalone title. As IGN notes, the golf course is located in the Richman District at the top of Los Santos Golf Club. Grand Theft Auto V has by far the most developed version of the game, featuring a pricey entrance fee, accurate clubs, and a very realistic course. The precise controls and golfing aspects will actually leave you feeling like you are on the field.

The Bedroom (Resident Evil 7: Biohazard)
Because Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is not widely considered a difficult installment of the game, the inclusion of a challenging escape mini game is very exciting. The Bedroom remains true to the title's survival horror theme and features Margueritte, the spooky host of the house in whose bedroom you are locked.
To get out, you need to find clues around the room and return everything to the way it was before Margueritte comes back. If, upon returning, she finds something out of play, she vomits insects and murders you, which resets the entire game.

Squid Jump (Splatoon 2)
Shack News calls Splatoon "one of Nintendo's most captivating new franchises of the past decade." Splatoon 2's exciting offers include a 2D platformer mini game called Squid Jump. Here, the goal is to help a squid avoid rising ink by moving it across platforms.

Squid Jump is easy in the beginning but the platforms soon turn into moving conveyor belts, unstable clouds, or slippery ice, to increase the difficulty. It also features power-ups to amp up the fan.

Conclusion
Mini games are exciting because they are unexpected. You don't expect to break for a round of gold during a Grand Theft Auto speed race but, when it happens, it is worth it. Through these games, you can take your mind off the urgency of the main plotline and just have a good time.
