Find the Escape Men 80: Mountain Hut

elleYou're minding your own business, climbing up a snowy mountain, perhaps reliving your favorite scenes of A Sound of Music or Heidi, when along comes a snow storm to put a damper on things. Luckily, given the circumstances, you come across a hut where you can duck inside and escape the worst of weather. Checking it out, you see it's an unassuming enough place to hole up and might be rather dull except, even more fortunate for you, No1Game has picked this exact location for a game of Find the Escape-Men #80: Mountain Hut. So, look around a bit more closely, peeking in places you might not ordinarily look and solving a few puzzles, until you uncover ten of the titular little green dudes.

Much of the difficulty will come from figuring out just where to look because you'll get no clues from the unchanging cursor. Call it a pixel hunt if you will, but you should do fine if you're diligently thinking about and looking for every single surface and corner where an escape man could hide away, which—considering how small, flat and apparently sticky they are—is just about anywhere. As long as you're not afraid of some math, puzzles are straight-forward and the whole encounter turns out to be rather brief. Along with the fun of collecting hidden objects, the story brings it together to be a rather entertaining sojourn.

Find the Escape-Men 80: Mountain Hut—Walkthrough/Escape-Man Locations

How to find Escape-Man #1

  • Turn right from the door to face the window...

    • Open the window a few times.

    • The third time you open the window, an escapeman will blow in.

  • Turn left to the door view again...

    • Pick up EM 1/10 from the floor.

#2's hiding spot

  • From the door, go left and you'll see a bed...

    • Lift up the pillow on the top bunk and get EM 2/10.

#3's hiding spot

  • Click on the left side the bunk to view its headboard...

    • There you find EM 3/10. Take him.

    • Also take note of the shapes there and note them in order, as shown by the arrow:

    • triangle, circle, inverted triangle.

#4's hiding spot

  • Turn to face the cupboards area.

  • Open the cupboard door on the right:

    • Get the EM 4/10 that's in plain sight inside this cupboard.

#5's hiding spot

  • This one is a bit more hidden, somewhere in the cupboards...

    • Open up the same cupboard where you found #4, click the lower part of the cupboard:

      • Unstick EM 5/10 from the underside of the shelf.

#6: 3-Colors Code and Clay

  • Look closely at the picture hanging above the cupboards...

    • Do those shapes remind you of something you saw earlier?

    • The shapes on the otherside of the bunkbed: triangle, circle, inverted-triangle.

  • Turn left to see the chest of drawers. Examine the bottom drawer:

    • Put together the clues you've found and enter the correct 3-Color Code.

    • SOLUTION:

The colors of the shapes on the picture, in the same order as given on the bunkbed (the side with the arrow, where you found EM #3)...
      GREEN-YELLOW-BLUE

      Colorblind Solution:

Number of clicks, starting from black...
      6-2-4

    • When you've inputed the correct colors, click the white button to enter the code.

  • Open the drawer to get... GREEN CLAY.

    • Okay, wait, that's not EM #6. But, maybe you can make him?

    • Look around the room for something to help you shape an escape-man out of the green clay:

    • Hanging on the door knob is a small gold medallion. Press the GREEN CLAY into the escape-man shape on the medallion.

    • Now take the newly formed EM 6/10.

#7: The Wobbly Welcome

  • Head over to the cupboards area and zoom in on the top shelf of the cabinet:

    • Move aside the bowls until you can see what's written in the back of the shelf. Make note.

  • Back up and turn to the door view and zoom in on the "Welcome" sign.

    • Click the corners of the wobbly sign in the correct order.

    • SOLUTION:

The numbers in each corner of the wall behind the bowls indicate the order in which to click the sign's corners...
      TL: 7 ---- TR: 1,4

      BL: 3,6 -- BR: 2,5

      In other words...

TR, BR, BL, TR, BR, BL, TL

  • When clicked in the correct sequence, the wobbly welcome sign will slide down, revealing...

    • EM 7/10. Take him.

#8 is sealed up

  • Go to the cupboards. Open the last door on the left: there you see a bunch of cans.

    • Take the GREEN CAN.

  • Now you need a way to open it. Look high up...

    • On the top of the shelves is a CAN OPENER. Take it.

  • Now, examine the GREEN CAN in your inventory and use the CAN OPENER on it.

    • Get EM 8/10 from inside the can.

#9: December's Visitors

  • Go back to the cupboards. Hanging on the wall above the left side of the cupboards is a posted paper..."The number of visitors in 2013." Zoom in to read it:

    • Take EM 9/10 from line 12

#10: 3-Digit Number and an Oil Lamp

  • Look in the top drawer of the chest by the window:

    • Get the PINK SLIP of paper that reads:

    • 2x6+10x5
Notice the shape of escape men behind these numbers.

  • Go back to read to the "Visitors in 2013" poster hanging above the cupboards...

    • Each line represents a month. The filled-in escape men for each month are clear and dark (un-filled ones are hollow outlines). So, for example, the first month (1) had twenty visitors.

  • Make the necessary computations then back up and examine the last cupboard on the right:

    • Input the correct 3-digit number then click "enter".

    • SOLUTION:

Each number on the pink slip represents a month on the 2013 visitors poster. So, multiply the 2nd months's visitor count by the 6th month's visitor count. Then, multiply the 10th month's visitors by the 5th month's. Then, add those two amounts together...(18x5)+(12x6)=90+72*

      = 162

      *(Mathematical order of operations rule)

  • Once you've unlocked it, open the right side of the cupboards:

    • Get the old-fashioned OIL LAMP.

  • The LAMP is empty so look around for something to use on it...

    • When facing the bunks, click on the right side for a close-up of the floor at the footboard:

      • Pick up a MAGICAL CLOTH.

    • Now use the MAGIC CLOTH on the LAMP...

  • Grab EM 10/10 after he comes out of the lamp's spout.

Exiting

  • After you've collected all ten of the escape-men, they'll coalesce to form one...and he's holding something:

    • It's a sleeping bag!

  • You're tired after all the searching, so put the ESCAPE-MAN on the lower bunk.

  • After a good night's sleep, you wake to find the storm is over and birds are singing.

    • Turn to the door, open it, and step outside.

Congratulations!

The game isn't working for me. I'm using chrome on a macbook and as soon as it's done loading, sometimes before sometimes after I click "start," it just plays through all of the frames. I don't know what the deal with that is.

I waited a while and tried again and suddenly it worked... I guess if anyone has the same problem I did, try it again after a while?

I can't get the game to load for me at all...

I just get a grey box with black bars at the top and bottom. In the top bar it says, "Sponsored Link [+ some Japanese]" and in the bottom bar it says "Copyright (c) 2014 [more Japanese] All Rights Reserved."

I'm running firefox & Windows 7. I made sure my Flash player was up to date fairly recently, so unless a new version came out within the last few days I don't think that's it.

And I tried the coming back later strategy already, in case it was bandwidth overload (affecting the flash file but not the rest of the site) or might have been fixed in the meantime, but no; hours later, same grey box.

Oh this was fun! The only part that tripped me up was the final bit

the sleeping bag looked to me like a buoy one uses to be found in an avalanche. I kept trying to throw Mr. Green out the window.

Thanks for responding, elle, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.

I don't use any ad-blockers, but I do use the NoScript add-on, which can sometimes have a similar effect. I had already told it to allow all scripts on the game page, and was still getting the grey box.

Since whatever site the "sponsored link" was being served from was obscured by it being part of the flash object -- and so I couldn't tell what site or sites to allow -- I tried something I prefer not to do: I told NoScript to "allow all scripts globally" (I made sure the feature that automatically reloads all tabs affected by a permissions change was turned off first) and manually reloaded the game page.

Frustratingly, all I got was the same grey box! (I put my normal NoScript settings back on, since I now knew that wasn't the problem.)

The only other add-ons I use that could possibly be the problem are DoNotTrackMe (which just prevents some kinds of cookies chicanery) and the avast! Online Security browser extension that's part of my anti-malware and firewall program.

I doubt the DoNotTrackMe add-on could be at fault, though I suppose it's possible depending on how the ad-serving part of the flash file is scripted? And avast! has always given me a pop-up message and/or audio alert when it blocks something it recognizes as suspect, and usually does so as soon as I'm directed to a suspect URL (before NoScript or anything else would have a chance to kick in).

In the interest of troubleshooting (and being able to play an Escape-Men game!) I tried an older Find the Escape Men installment which I knew I'd played before, #35 In the Ninja House; this time around I got the same grey box (noticably darker, but still not letting me play the game). It's possible that I was running Chrome back when I played that game originally, so Firefox add-ons couldn't have caused a problem, but I'm really not sure.

On a hunch, I decided to go even further back, and tried out FtEM 5: The Escape-Nyans, which I definitely have not played before. And it works! So, I'm going to go play it now. I noticed that #5 is on a different part of the site from the latest Escape Men games; I have no idea whether that's germane to the difficulties I'm having with games in the dedicated Escape-Men area of the no1game site, but I'll see if I can figure it out... after I (finally!) enjoy some escape-game stress-relief!

Reply

Hi Elle, thanks for helping me troubleshoot this.

Ultimately, I'll pass on playing games that I'd have to hobble my computer's security in order to play. I've been hit with some nasty virus infections in the past due to malicious scripts served by third parties via sites that were (presumably) unaware of what was being inflicted on their site visitors. There are, fortunately for me, lots of other sites where I can play escape games.

That said, while I didn't reinstall Chrome, I figured I would see what happened if I tried it in IE; I'd just installed some Windows updates which included the latest version and patches, so I cranked up my firewall to its most secure settings and loaded up the game page.

Now here's where things get interesting.

The game loaded, after serving the brief ad, and seemed fully playable. In a separate IE tab, however, I loaded the flash file directly (something I do habitually because my vision is poor enough that the full-page size thus yielded is often necessary for me to make out all the details required in point-&-click games) ...and got the gray box again!

Obviously there was no browser extension issue with IE. The game page copy of the flash, back in the first tab, continued to work fine and be playable (albeit small), even after I reloaded both tabs.

I'm still at a loss to figure out why I get the gray box under the circumstances I do get it. But hopefully you'll have some ideas? And hopefully my experience will be of help to someone else.

And hopefully the nice folks who bring us the Escape Men series will reconsider their current method of ensuring ad revenue. I do understand that bandwidth costs need to be offset somehow, and I have no problem with allowing third-party ads to be served on pages I visit in Firefox. (I leave social media sites I don't use blocked, to avoid slowing down my poor beleaguered computer, and because some [cough]facebook[/cough] have proved repeatedly that they can't be trusted with anyone's personal data.) It's frustrating that I'm prevented from playing this game -- and most of the other games at no1game.net -- even when I allow all the advertising scripts I can allow.
