This is simply amazing. Someone that goes only by the name of Voxel, has created a 3D version of the original Metroid game in Director, titled Metroid Cubed! By taking the Metroid tileset, he built a utility that allows him to convert 2D sprites to 3D sprites, and then he uses those to build the levels of the game. Check out his site, which also has a complete history about how and why he did what he did.

Play Metroid Cubed (requires Shockwave).

Thank you very much :)

I wish my work was more structured though, my programming abilities evolved thru the project and rewriting it all in a more object-oriented way wouldn't hurt. There is also a lot of unused cast members and scripts in my project I should get rid off... This thing is also very heavy in memory use and I'm working on ways to make it lighter. I actually would give you the source code if I wasnt a little ashamed of some parts that are badly structured, and it's also mostly uncommented. But hey it was lazy coding on long bored nights, if I was to do a project for a company it would be much cleaner, and commented. My next projects will have cleaner bases too.

Oh and a little fact: I didnt have the internet at home from december '02 to november '03... This is where I found the time to make The Cubic Sculptor and Metroid evolve to a point where they would be presentable to the web. Developpement was then slowed down when I got the Internet back, but I gained many things like finding answers to questions I had about Lingo etc...

Anyway if you have any questions about how I did this or that etc. don't hesitate to ask :)

PLEASE HELP ME! I found the link for the Zelda Cubed as well, and neither of them work! It says that the page is unfound or something, and it's in French! Plus, is this just a demo, or the full game? Looks AMAZING by the way. Help!

This is a great game yet I beleve what it needs is the ability to be rotated 90 degrees, so you can see everything.
