GrandMa's Delicious Cakes - A Forgotten Hill Tale
Something tastes a little funny...but hopefully it's just me. Take a bite out of Grandma's Delicious Cakes in this brand new Forgotten Hill Tale!
FM Studios' latest release is a cupcake-sized side story that, although set in our usual world, gets sweetened and spiced through its Grandma's House theme. Initially, this re-skinning seems like an unexpected departure from the twisted, gory Forgotten Hill series we know and love. But players shall soon find out that this chapter is not so different after all. As we weave along this journey, we descend deeper into the uncanny valley that juxtaposes cute, benevolent Grandma and the horrors in her house.
Regarding gameplay, this chapter is better made than several of its counterparts. Compared to Forgotten Hill: Cabin in the Woods, for example, we see marked improvement in user experience and gameplay flow. Puzzles are overall well-defined, logical, and pain-free. Limiting the number of rooms per "phase" of the game, in addition to the repetition of puzzle solving devices, helps streamline the flow and guide users through the game. Although this chapter is pretty short, FM Studios has emphasized quality over quantity here. It's heartening to see the Studio improve its skill and expertise over time.
Grandma's Delicious Cakes is one of my personal favorites from Forgotten Hill. The retrofitting of this always-fun theme into Forgotten Hill's unique game design and brand aesthetic was particularly well done. If you're in the mood for another bit of campy horror, come to Grandma's!

looks creepy!
It has to be me.
The title screen is displayed with a loading bar that never moves.
Firefox all updates installed.
Edge takes FOREVER but after about 10 minutes I was able to play.
Really fun game and worth the wait. Just fold some laundry or make a pot of coffee or do a crossword puzzle and come back.
This is one of my favorite from Forgotten Hill. I'm still playing it these days.

Man, this was a tasty game! Forgotten Hill has joined Rusty Lake at the top of the heap of creepy, excellent games. This one was a lot of fun to play, and ran quite smoothly for me. (I've had a lot of issues with their newer HTML5 games, to the point that some are almost unplayable. But with this one, they appear to have worked out the kinks—worked beautifully, and graphics and sound are the best they've ever been.)
Bravo, Forgotten Hill!
