Hi! It's Wednesday with a new Weekday Escape!
Another week passed, and I have to post two last games from Vitamin Hana's archives since no new games arrived. Oh well. The two retro games concern climbing and repairing, and after you do what you need to, you can take a rest in Selfdefiant's forest. Only happy creatures live there - well the cobra doesn't seem very happy, it's in the attack position but can be driven away easily. The last is a demo of a dark adventure by Yliader...it doesn't take long but you can feel the game's atmosphere from it pretty well.
Have a good time and enjoy!
Notice, that in the next two weeks (starting Monday 28th March) I will not be posting anything (unless an outstanding big game occurs). I'll be mostly off the computer.
Highest Height
To escape, Vitamin Hana wants you to climb a practically vertical rock face. No way! Unless...unless you find a climbing equipment. It could be in one of those boxes lying in a tent or nearby it, but as we know, it's not that simple. You need to find some clues to boxes' locks and the birds may have something to do with that. They look quite hungry, don't you think?
The cursor is changing, no save option, one ending.
Mr. Electrician
Mr. Electrician can change a phone screen - what you find quite helpful later in the game - but apparently can't fix a shelf. It's you who has to. There are many things entirely up to you in the game...Mr. Electrician is just standing behind his counter and watching. Oh well. After you manage to open a door leading out can remind him of his work...
The cursor is changing, no save option, one ending.
Happy Forest Escape
The latest Selfdefiant's game takes place in a forest and it's a happy one. You can see that everything is lush green and growing, anf the animals you meet are friendly. They just need a bite to eat and it's your task to find it. They will help you then to get what you need - it's a small boat. A river is nearby so put the boat on the water and escape!
The cursor isn't changing, autosave, one ending.
The Mist - demo
The dark and mysterious adventure by Yliader, inspired by the Cthulhu Myth, is on its way and meanwhile we can play a demo. A new lighthouse keeper has just arrived to an empty lighthouse and tries to find out what he's supposed to do...and why he keeps finding cryptic notes by his predecessor. Deep in his mind germinates an idea what happened to him...
Controlled by WASD/Arrow keys, A/Z and B/E choices or dialogues.
We love escape games, and our readers love talking about them and sharing hints! How about you? Let us know what you think, ask for clues, or help out other players in the comments below.
On Highest Height, you might have to do one of the last things backwards.
Oddly, you can only attach the hook to the rope. You cannot attach the rope to the hook. 🤔
If you have trouble getting Happy Forest Escape to load, try this link instead.
The Mist looks promising. Quite liked the minimalist music (it only registered after finishing that this is supposed to resemble a classic Nintendo Gameboy game). Curious to see how the end product compares.
(But Yliader—you can't fall off the pier or the cliff, but you can fall off that catwalk? 🤔)
It can be downloaded right now! It's a ROM for gameboy emulator. Furthermore, it is supposed to have two endings, but I only found one of them.
Grabbed an emulator and downloaded The Mist, and it was quite enjoyable! Really freaky story, and now I understand why you could fall off certain areas and not others.
You find an item which allows you to progress past the broken catwalk. Until then, you fall to your "death" each time.
I did find both endings, and they change depending on the disposition of a certain item:
If you choose to throw the book off the pier, you get the first ending:
The hooded captain of the boat is revealed to be one of the tentacled monsters, and he fishes the book out of the water with promises to find another victim.
If you choose to keep the book, you get the bizarre second ending:
You return to the chapel, which is now outfitted with the odd-looking cross and has blood dripping from the ship decorations on the wall. Here, you pray to the ancient god of the eight seas, and soon become one of the tentacled monsters yourself. At the ivory tower, the ancient god's eye opens, and he says, "I SEE YOU." The game abruptly and ambiguously ends there.
Quite an entertaining tale, and the music was really well-done throughout. But man, somebody needs to proof the dialogue text. There are countless misspellings, and they really detract from an otherwise lovely little game.
