Ever wished you could live the life of a blacksmith or trader? Well, your dream has kind of come true as of the launch of the brand new mobile MMORPG, Ancients Reborn.
If you've played RuneScape or Albion Online, you will find this a familiar experience. There's a huge open world to explore, quests to complete, and dungeons to conquer. So far, so MMO. But, what sets it apart is in its deep crafting and skilling systems.
For those of you who aren't sure what skilling is, it involves performing a repetitive action over and over until you've increased your level in that particular skill. Examples of this include mining, woodcutting, and fishing.
As you increase your skill level, you gather vital resources that you can then turn into useful objects, equipment, and items via the crafting system. Not only does this increase your level in the various crafting skills, but also improves your character thanks to the equipment it produces.
Perhaps more importantly, though, you can sell what you don't need for profit. There's a marketplace and in-game shops to do so in, and you can put your cash in the bank. That's the player-driven economy in a nutshell.
When you're decked out in your new equipment, you can take on challenging content like dungeons, which come in instanced and open world forms. This is where you may need to put together a party with other players, as it's dangerous to go alone.
Or you can just explore the world on your mount, getting around faster. Mounts include horses, wolves, deer, and even dragons. You can also bring a pet or two along for the ride, so you're not alone.
