SurvivooOne-half interactive story and one-half game, Survivoo is a quirky Japanese Flash piece that is charming, cute, and bizarre. Created by Igawo.

Although all the text in the game is Japanese, that doesn't spoil the fun this short little adventure has to offer. Most of the animation speaks for itself. It tells the tale of a little Frenchman who is swept away to a far away land of peculiar beasts that make very strange noises.

At several points along the way, a whistle will blow and the action will stop. You will be presented with a situation that you must solve to continue the story. Use the mouse to click and drag objects to satisfy the puzzle. Use your imagination. The solutions are logical, and none of the puzzles are very difficult.

Persevere and you will be rewarded with a strange and charming little interactive story from Japan.

Fun little story. It would be interesting to know what all of those captions were.

Hey jay, I been coming to the site for ahwile, and I have to say yours is the most comprehensive collection of fun internet games out there. The daily updates are a big plus. Keep up the good work mate.

Also I was wondering what other games do you play? Flash and shockware can't take up all of ones time...can it?

This is a translation of all the japanese I noticed.

Start

action

try dragging

take it

try dragging various things

Grab the monster = you can't move that
drag the stick to the boy = pick it up
drag the boy to the monster = direct attack? not sure . . .
Drag the stick to the monster = throw it

(next scenario)

Drag the boy to the stick = pick it up
Attempt to drag the boy to the monster = I can't swim!
Drag the girl to the boy = swim!
Drag the girl to the monster = jump on

(next)

drag the boy to the monster = attack
drag the boy to the green flying guy = together
drag the green guy to the monster = hissatsu? I don't know . . .

(next)

drag the sword = I can't move it
drag the boy to the sword = (ken o) meaning pick up the sword.

Hope that helps/is interesting

Thanks for the translation, Daddaluma! =)

Mike - thank you kindly. And you're right, there are many more games in my life than Flash and Shockwave. I have a Gamecube and a PS2, and therefore I like to play console games very much. I feel a greater sense of immersion with a game when I can control the action with a handheld conroller.

I also enjoy Gameboy handheld games, there are so many excellent titles to choose from. Still playing: Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap.

Similarly, I have been playing the Nintendo DS and Sony's PSP a lot lately since there have been many new games released for both systems.

Lumines on the PSP is a pretty exceptional game. I still can't get enough of it. =)

So far, Nintendo's DS seems to have the more unique and compelling titles available for it. I've enjoyed Mario 64 DS, Wario Ware Touched, and I am currently enthralled with Toshio Iwai's Electroplankton -- it's amazingly beautiful. I am also looking forward to Nintendogs.

Jay,
Sounds like you got the console side covered! Just wanted to put a game on your radar which I am sure you have heard of.

Guild Wars is a fantastic game, the best RPG MMO I have ever played. I highly suggest you look into it. The role-play and pvp is top notch. I am currently in a guild that is ranked 3rd in the nation in pvp. Like I said it is def. worth your time to look at.

Thanks, Mike. Unfortunately, I just haven't had the time to sink into MMORPGs. There are others I've been saying I want to check out, especially World of Warcraft, but who has the time as a graduate student to play these games?

Maybe this summer will be different, and I will definitely look into Guild Wars on your recommendation. =)

>It's also nice sometimes to see your reasons for choosing a given game, since once in a while you'll post something that I think is bad or boring (like Survivoo), and I'd like to know what you thought was so interesting about it. (ACLS)

ACLS - what I liked about this 'game' was the story it told, and in an odd and sort of eccentric way. I enjoy it when game authors take a chance and deviate from what is expected to deliver some crazy idea they had. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so well, but there is a source of inspiration to be shared within some of the more bizarre attempts at finding ways to entertain and have fun. I will admit that sometimes you have to be willing to think outside the box to enjoy it. =)

this interactive animation was so cute and silly. it wasn't challenging, but the sequences were refreshingly paced and simple enough that it's like having ice cream for dinner. so funny!

One other bit of Japanese translation - at the very end, after the credits, it says "To be Continued", and then in little letters it says "..maybe", and then below that you can click to "replay".

I find it interesting that at the end it said "Tsuzuku...kamo." Which means "To be continued...probably." Let's hope there's a Survivoo two in the works. ^_^ Oh, Jay? Great site. I'm addicted.

What a great little game. There is practically no challenge but it had me giggling like an idiot. How often does a game have an effect like that on someone? There are some amazingly unique games by Japanese authors.

This is a cute little interactive game. I only wish, like others, that it had been longer.

I wonder if it has been continued yet?

that was unbelievably adorable with some icing on top and a bunch of whipped goodness that'll rot your teeth all to hell plus a cherry and snow white powdered sugar sifted over it like a blizzard. i forgot my point, but i want cake.

Just a hunch. Did any 'bionicle' fan find that the final monster looked extremly close to Vezon?

that was great. just great. if only all games were like that. great.

To use a perhaps nearly outdated acronym: 'LoL'! ~ Sometimes the comments are better value than the game itself...

Huh? All the links to the game seem to be down...did they take the game off the site? D:

[Thanks for the note. I've resurrected the game. It looks like the author's site had been taken down (or moved). -Jay]
