And the gameplay theme is...

Experimental Gameplay CompetitionAs mentioned previously, the Experimental Gameplay Project has just launched their game design competition today by announcing the gameplay theme: consume. You now have two weeks to come up with a game designed and developed with that theme in mind. Games that do not follow the theme may be disqualified.

Be sure to visit the EGP website for information on How To Enter and for the official rules.

They have even launched a brand new forum specifically for the competition.

Good luck! =)

Oh! I'll definitely give it a shot.
Thanks for the heads-up, Jay.

*is still suspicious* Jay, would you please assure us that this is not another April Fools joke?

If you're unsure whether this is real, I invite you to actually visit the Experimental Gameplay Project's website and see for yourself. =)

Someone willing to give the time to make a game for the competition needs to make one about crazy hobos, that have to find food before they starve...

and you can get upgrades like... a job...

I don't know- just make a game about hobos

Well i'll try and make something...
il post when i'm done (if that ever happens)
also i made a tramp racing game a little while back i'l try and get that hosted soon for ya tequito (but only if u show an interest)

Don't forget that "Consume" not only refers to eating or absorbing something, but also to waste something or destroy it completely.

Maybe that will spark an idea?

Hey Jay, awesome site. An idea: Why don't you put a place in the sidebar for users to save their, say, 10 favorite games? Right now I have to go to the "search" option for old games I love, or save them to favorites. This would be a great addition to your site

pacman's good, but been done to death by emulators...I'd like to see a multiplayer hungry hungry hippos.

I think the idea is to go bananas. Try to create radical inovations on both design (idea) and gameplay.

Of course, one always need to step on the good classics in order to create something new... but this influence should not be obviously shown in your idea. Like: pacman! =) Elaborate your idea a bit more. Add some fresh elements. Create you own bizarre and thrilling pacman.

Drink from other fountains, think outside the box. That's the idea (and 80% of the fun!).

Cheers,
Stefano

Brett: There's already a thing like that. In fact, it allows for up to -18- favorites!

I am confused about what Brett means. He wants to save 10 favorites, "or save to favorites", which to me means the same thing.

I am presently working on the next version of the site, which will allow users who register with the site to have more than 18 favorites. Registration will be optional, however.
