UnlockUnlock is a unique little puzzle game in which you must unlock the secrets of each stage to advance to the next. Some stages are easy, while others are maddening difficult. This game will tease your brain and test your patience and resolve.

Another game designed by Uminin of Flash Game Zone in Japan. And while it's definitely a smaller scale Flash game than his more recent offerings, this game offers a variety of puzzles to keep you interested, and to keep you guessing. He first created "normal" mode, and then added "another security mode" a month later. Together they form 12 challenges for you to unlock. Click.

This game reminded me a lot of Jonathan May's The Dark Room, though on a smaller scale. If you like games like this, then check out Jonathan's excellent puzzler, too.

I'm really stuck at the last level! aggrrrhhhhh!
what do the colours mean? any hints?

Reply

Ken - the last level of normal mode, or the add-on? If the latter then I know how you feel. I was unable to complete that one, as well.

Reply

OMG! i thought it was just me.. i can't get passed the level 3 keypad thing either.. help!

Reply

Okay, level 3 isn't too hard. Spoiler alert, though:

Type in the numbers you see on the screen. The keypad is not numbered, but here is its layout:

7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3

The tall key on the right is enter. Click it when you're done. Not too hard.

I'm still stuck on the first level.

how the heck do you get past the level after the colors? (the one with the lights that turn on and off with various buttons) unless i'm missing something major, i've determined that it's impossible.

Reply

Not impossible, just not very intuitive. =/

Reply

Not to forget it is stupid to have to restart the whole Security mode after you mess it up :\

I've completed the Normal mode, though i dont quite understand how i finished the level with the slide panels ;)

I've gotten to Level 7. I'm assuming the play button goes in the upper left and the double arrow goes at the junction, but im stumped when it comes to the -40, -20, etc.

whats with the last stage on hard mode?
the one thats all black and you cant see anything and its like defuzing a bomb
and more crazy colors. and if you screw up it blows up and you have to start all the stages over.
i tried twice and gave up
is anyone else this far?

Reply

Db - yeah, I got that far too, and gave up. There is a light switch on the left side about 1/3 down. That still didn't help me much. It's like a color combination safe of some sort. I haven't figured it out.

Reply

Random question... how did everyone remember the colors for the 4(?) level? (The one where you have to press the buttons in a certain order.) I can't write them fast enough.

Reply

Spoilers.

level 1:
just click the buttons to light up an X between the 4 outer lines.

level 2(1):
click the rectangle button on the right, the lights up the top will flash a sequence. replay this sequence using the buttons in the bottom left then click the rectangle button on the left.

level 3(2):
The display shows the unlock sequence. The buttons on the keypad are un numbered but are layed out the same as your keyboard. Just press the button that corresponds. Type in the code using this method then hit the rectangle button on the right.

level 4(3):
The maze is annoying. Use the arrow buttons in the middle to move the glowing dot. Don't hit a wall or you will start again.
Yes it took me a few goes, timing is important

level 5(4):

click the button in the bottom right to start the sequence. keep clicking the sliding panel to restart the sequence.
If the slider reaches the end of its travel, the sequence will reset and you will have to start again.
In between clicks of the sliding bar, click the colours in the order they appear to finish the level.

Level 6(5):
each button on the outside ring creates a connection between itself and the center dot and illuminates the dots in between. If more than 1 outside dot is on the same "circuit" it will cancel out any common dots between them.

the best way to solve this puzzle is with trial and error... it took me 3 or 4 minutes to light up all the inside dots.
Click the center dot when it starts flashing.

level 7(6):
The path represents a calculation. placing the symbols along the path calculates the formula.
the bent arrow represents a choice so it goes at the intersection.
row 1 is: Play, -20, V arrow.
row 2 is: 1/2, -20
row 3 is: -40, x2

level 8(7):
I have no idea.....

Reply

spoiler for level 8(7)
the arrows represent the doors on each of the 3 layers. the numbers, which change each time you've opened 3 doors, are the number of doors you have to move on the third layer to access the unlock button. but you have to include the door you just opened in you math. so if the down number is 4 and the right number is 5, you start counting 1 on the door you just opened, then go down 4 and over 5. then press the botton once the door is open.

Reply

alright. ive tried the entire game without help but now im stumped. the only one i cant get is the last level on the hard mode with the bomb. im thining mabey something about the colors in the bottom left and which swiches they touch. but im not sure.

Reply

PS: this game is awsome. ive already done the dark room and archapelago. anyone know some others like this?

Reply

Robi - you and me both. The last puzzle is where I am stuck, too. So, if you figure it out, post a hint! =)

Reply

i figured out the last level! (the bomb one). first turn on the light so its easier to see. the swich is 1/3 of the way down on the left. then start at the white button in the bottom left but dont press it yet. follow the line coming from it to the first swich u come acroos. click it so it turns white. follow the line to the next swich and make it white also..if it doesnt turn white go back to the first swich and take a differant path. do this untill you come to the button that says defuse or something and has 2 blanck dots (its in the middle, cant miss it) once you have a straight path from the white button to the difuse button click the first white button in the lower left that i said not to click earlier.if you did it right one of the dots on the diffuse button should light up, if you did it wrong you have to start the whole security system over again. once you light up the first button reapet the proccess for the purple one. thats all you need to do if that even made any sense. =)

Reply

Email me if you know but I am on the one with the dials. I think it has something to do with degrees. Do each of the hash marks represent 5 degrees and the knobs start at 0??

Reply

Patrick - you are correct. Additionally, one direction is positive, the other negative. Recall from your geometry lessons.

How do you beat the 3rd Level on hard? I'm so confused

Reply

the 3rd level took me a while to figure out. each of the pieces on the bottom go on the black board. after you put the in the right place the pipes in the top right go on the board. the 2 ball pieces on the bottom can be rotated in the box with the 2 arrows.
1. the box on the very bottom right(with none above it) goes in the very top right of the blanck space.
2. the one to its left goes in the bottom center of the blanck space
3. the ball piece next to that goes in the very top left but first put it in the rotate box and hit the left arrow
4. the piece to the left of that wich should be a coner looking piece goes in the center top.
5. the piece next to that goes in the center right.
6. the round piece above it you put in the rotate box and hit the right arrow then put it in the bottom left.
7. the piece to the right goes above it in the left center place
8. the pice to its right goes in the center.
9. and the last piece goes in the last place.

now put the pieces in the slots they fit in.
the backwards C looking one(verry top right) goes on the outside of the large square. all the pieces should either conect 2 white lines or one white line and the open part of a circle

I'm on Level 6 of Normal Mode...

I can't light all the dots? There are two dots that are always the opposite of each other. If dot A is on, dot B is off, and vice versa. The only way they're the same is if they're off! I dont see how I can get rid of this...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v689/TornadoTK/unlock6wtf.jpg

Reply

TornadoTK - while it may seem impossible, I can say first-hand that it is indeed solvable. You will notice that most of the dots change their state by two (2) different buttons. Just keep trying and you will figure it out. =)

i figured it out the level with the doors.
there r 3 lvls then the bottom lvl has 24 doors 12 each side for example
x = a door
lvl 1 is

if u had somethat said down 2 left 7 it would be the capital letter above
to get there you would open the left side
then the top right door then bottom left door
if you are still confused ill try to explain it better

Lvl 6, simple walkthrough:

Imagine the buttons on the outside are labeled 1 through 12, with #1 being the button to the left of the top right corner, and the numbers going around clockwise. Press them in this order:

1 12 10 7 6 8 9

Then press the center button.

(Note: this is not the only way to do it, but it is very efficient)

Lvl 8, simple walkthrough:

Imagine the buttons are labeled
1 2
3 4

Imagine the numbers are labeled
A B

(A is the "down" number, B is the "over" number)

Behind the doors is a grid of spaces, which looks like:

O O O O O O O O
O O O O O O O O
O O O O O O O O
O O O O O O O O

A and B are coordinates for the key. A is how far down it is, B is how far from the left. so is A is 3 and B is 7, the key will be at the X:

O O O O O O O O
O O O O O O O O
O O O O O O X O
O O O O O O O O

You press the buttons 3 times. First, decide which half it's in, left or right; for the left half, press button 1, for the right, press button 2.

1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2
1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2
1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2
1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2

Once you've chosen which half, your grid is reduced to just that. Then, press a button according to which quarter of the half the key is in:

1 1 2 2
1 1 2 2
3 3 4 4
3 3 4 4

Finally, you're left with a small square. Press a button according to which corner of THAT the key is in.

1 2
3 4

And hit the hidden button before the doors close!

Oh, and a detailed walkthrough for the "another security mode" levels:

LVL 1:

Imagine the dials are labelled:

A B
C D
E

Click A 3 times, B 2 times, C 23 times, D 19 times, and E 7 times. Then hit the lower-right button.

LVL 2:

Press the large rectangular button to start the arrows moving. Imagine that the grid the arrows are moving on is labeled:
2
1
-2 -1 0 1 2
-1
-2

When you press the rectangular button again, the horizontal arrow stops moving, and when you press it a third time, the vertical arrow stops moving. Stop them at these coordinates in any order:

H V
-1 1
1 1.5
0 0
1 0
-1.5 -1

LVL 3:

Imagine the tiles are labeled:

A B C D
E F G H I

1. Place A in the box with the arrows under it, and hit the arrow facing right once. Place A in the lower-left corner on the large box.

2. Place B above A (left center).

3. Place C in the center of the large box.

4. Place D in the lower-right corner of the large box.

5. Place E directly above D (center right).

6. Place F directly above C (top center).

7. Place G in the small box with the arrows, and hit the arrow facing left once. Plage G in the upper-left corner of the large box.

8. Place H directly below C (bottom center).

9. Place I in the top right corner of the large box, which should fill the box.

10. Take the long diagonal pipe (shaped like \) and connect the two corners (tiles G and D) with it.

11. Take the short diagonal pipe (shaped like / with the top bent) and connect the lower-left corner with the center-right corner (tiles A and E)

12. Take the tiny bent pipe (shaped like r) and connect the center tile with the upper right tile (tiles C and I).

13. Take the last remaining pipe (shaped like ]) and connect the upper-right tile with the center-right tile (tiles I and E). This leaves the pipe out of the main box.

LVL 4:

Imagine the switches are labeled:

1 2

4
3 5

6
7

Roughly.

1. Hit switches 1, 3, and 5 so they are all white, then hit the white button.

2. Hit switch 7 and make sure both switch 7 and switch 4 are purple, then hit the purple button.

Solved everything. Man, you guys really spent TOO MUCH time trying to solve these. I've been playing for 45 mins and solved every stage. Well, the last one on the hard mode did take 10 mins (i had to go 3 times through the whole hard level, but it was worth it - its actually just a matter of permutations and fuzzy logic :) ).

Security Level 3.... Pipes.

I make it all beautifully, and put in all the pipes, apart from the final one (]).

I'm trying to put it (as backed up by Arca's wonderful walkthrough) connecting the top-centre and centre-centre tiles (that is, going through the top-right and centre-right tiles) but it won't stick.

Everything else fits, so I'm a little confused.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Liz

this is hard...

if you want a good spoiler, click below:

level 1: Just click the buttons to light up an X between the 4 outer lines. Then click the middle button.
level 2(1): Click the rectangle button on the right, the lights up the top will flash a sequence. replay this sequence using the buttons in the bottom left then click the rectangle button on the left.
level 3(2): The display shows the unlock sequence. The buttons on the keypad are un-numbered but are laid out as follows:
7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3
Just press the button that corresponds. Type in the code using this method then hit the rectangle button on the right.
level 4(3): The maze is annoying. Use the arrow buttons in the middle to move the glowing dot. Don't hit a wall or you will start again. It took me a few goes. Timing is important.
level 5(4): Click the button in the bottom right to start the sequence. keep clicking the sliding panel to restart the sequence. If the slider reaches the end of its travel, the sequence will reset and you will have to start again. In between clicks of the sliding bar, click the colors in the order they appear to finish the level.
Level 6(5): Each button on the outside ring creates a connection between itself and the center dot and illuminates the dots in between. If more than 1 outside dot is on the same "circuit" it will cancel out any common dots between them.
The best way to solve this puzzle is with trial and error... it took me 3 or 4 minutes to light up all the inside dots. Click the center dot when it starts flashing.
level 7(6): The path represents a calculation. Placing the symbols along the path calculates the formula. the bent arrow represents a choice so it goes at the intersection. row 1 is: Play, -20, V arrow. row 2 is: 1/2, -20 row 3 is: -40, x2
level 8(7): The arrows represent the doors on each of the 3 layers. the numbers, which change each time you've opened 3 doors, are the number of doors you have to move on the third layer to access the unlock button. but you have to include the door you just opened in you math. so if the down number is 4 and the right number is 5, you start counting 1 on the door you just opened, then go down 4 and over 5. then press the button once the door is open.

it took me a long time to finish, even with spoilers I got from other people.

Level seven (the rows)

Yhe first 2 boxs contain four inside them, and each one of those contains 4 more, so there are 16 on each side, 32 all together, or in other ways of thinking it's a grid of 4 down and 8 across.

The numbers correspond to how many down and how many across, ex. (down4 right6).
down1 is first across row, down2 is second, etc., same concept with across, if across is 4 or less, you would stick to the left side of the grid, 5 or more right side.

The arrows open up the corresponding doors, so down4 across6, you would stick to the right side (across being over 5) and all the way to the bottom, so you would press either right arrow, then bottom left, then bottom right and press the button.

Down 2 across 3 would be either left arrow, upper right arrow, lower left arrow.

Any questions, will respond further.
