Hi, it's Wednesday again with a new Weekday Escape!

We start a bit retro with Neutral's cute little game, recently remade. With Selfdefiant you visit two more U.S. states, Georgia and Hawaii, and then comes the latest tomoLaSiDo longer than usual with more rooms and more puzzles. The last is the fifth chapter of Smart Code's big escape, and we still don't know where we are escaping from - why we are doing that is clear. Dark and damp place without a trace of daylight isn't friendly at all.

Have a good time and enjoy!

Neutral Mini Escape Game

Many players have (probably) recognized the image - yes that's Neutral's lovely mini escape released thirteen years ago. It was made in Flash and Neutral kindly remade it in html5. For those who want to know what happened to an abruptly woken cute chicken look here: Chicken Tower.
The cursor isn't changing, no save, one ending.

Here you find the original review - notice, that the new version slightly differs from the original one.

Hooda Escape Georgia 2022

Hooda Escape Hawaii 2022

hawaii.png

Selfdefiant sends you to Georgia first and then to Hawaii, and the games' plot is the same. You are supposed to escape both places - in Georgia you need to get a bottle of Coke and then you can use a balloon, and in Hawaii, where many people would rather stay, it's more complicated. Let yourself get surprised!
The cursor is changing, autosave, one ending.

Escape Challenge 150: Room with the Mysterious Pocket

pocket.pngAs every tomoLaSiDo's round challenge, this one too is bigger and brings more content and more puzzles. You are supposed to escape from an apartment and right in the first room is the magical pocket hanging on the wall. It can change things to another ones, so if you get stuck you can always try to insert something into it and see. If you have anything in your inventory, of course.
The cursor isn't changing, autosave, one ending.

Laqueus Escape - Chapter 5

laqueus2.png

The chapters of Smart Code's escape series have never been easy and the difficulty is rising (links to previous episodes you find below - can be played separately).
After you find your way through a labyrinth, you end up in a locked room or a laboratory in a secret research institute, and to solve the puzzles there and open the door is hard. Well elaborated puzzles are clever and demanding - also rewarding if you manage to solve them by yourself. Take your time and try to look at hints from a different point of view - after you escape, you are one step closer to freedom!
The cursor is changing, autosave, one ending.

For Neutral:

persistence.

I sure hope Selfdefiant is getting a product placement fee from Coca-Cola…

Well, darn—Google Translate updated on my phone yesterday, and it reset to Chinese (Traditional) instead of the Japanese it normally stays on. No wonder the translation in Neutral Mini Escape Game didn't make any sense!  😕

Someone wanna save me a second playthrough and translate what the computer says after the second puzzle? The final message translates as:

“Successful escape!”

If you're stuck in Escape Challenge 150: Room with the Mysterious Pocket at the machine with two balls inside…

Try looking at things from a different perspective.

Click the space to the left of the machine to see it from the side.

And if you're hopelessly lost on the lower puzzle on that machine:

The clues are scattered around the three rooms.

The clues are the pictures of geometric drawings.

Note the pattern of corners and dashes on each picture's frame. You might have to sketch them down to make sense of them.

Starting with the picture of the simple diamond shape, you can see a pattern emerge.

The diamond has the lower corners. Adding the lowest dashes on the sides adds a circle. Adding the upper dashes adds a downward-pointing triangle. Lastly, adding the upper corners adds an upward-pointing triangle.

With this information, we can now solve the machine:

We now understand that each symbol is tied to a specific part of the frame border:

• ◇ is the bottom corners
• ○ is the lower dashes
• ▽ is the upper dashes
• △ is the top corners

The first button shows the top and bottom corners, so it corresponds to an upward-pointing triangle (△) and a diamond (◇). The second button is the lower dashes only, which corresponds to a circle (○). And lastly, the upper dashes and lower corners corresponds to a downward-pointing triangle (▽) and a diamond (◇).

Click the buttons until these combinations of symbols appear, and click the button to the right to enter it. You'll know you were successful, as a blue light comes on.

I quite enjoyed the "magic pocket", but this tomoLaSiDo was particularly devilish!  😈  😄

For the final message of Neutral's game I got something like:

the door is unlocked

Thanks to my newfound ability to use my phone to translate what's on my laptop screen! 😊
But I played it yesterday and am going from memory so accuracy there degrades with age.

I think the product placement was because Coca-Cola was founded in Atlanta. So, a Georgia product; but I also believe that Georgians pronounce it Co-Cola. It's good to marinate chicken in before grilling it!

Ah, that makes sense! Cola is also divine as a simmering liquid for pot roast. Put the roast and veggies into a slow cooker, sprinkle over a packet of onion soup mix, and mix a can of cola with a can of your favorite "Cream Of" soup (I love my Cream Of Mushroom). Turn the slow cooker on low, and let it go to town. 😋

Has anyone "attempted" Laqueus" yet??

I'm lost. I have looked at a bunch of 3D puzzles and have no idea what I am looking at. I have somehow ended up at a dead end because I kept going left. Is there a clue that tells you what way to turn and when??

Reply

I thought I had it figured out.

I started over, actually the game starts you over, and noticed that the signs over the table. One of them will match the 3D item on the table. This indicates which way to turn.

BUT

Now I am at a scene where the 3D item on the table does not match either of the signs. ???

I'm about ready to watch somebody else play with a video walk through.

Reply

I was right the first time.

When looking at the 3D item on the table

you can move it around. This changes your point of view. One of those points of view will match one of the signs. My best advice is to draw each of the signs on a piece of paper. My short term memory is not good enough to memorize the details.

I usually right down clues on a piece of paper anyway. Sometimes I have wondered if someone found my scratchings, would I look like a spy?

For anyone who is wondering, the mobile version of Laqueus Escape is up to chapter 7. I'm still stuck on 6, however.

LOL—I have paper all around the computer with scribbles of things like "RRRRRLLLL" or "EGG SPN POT STIX" or "!&#%$". I always thought someone would think me schizophrenic if they found those with no idea I played escape games.  😄

The tunnels are tricky, even after you figure out how they work. And I think it randomizes the combinations for each pass through, so that complicates things. I'm stuck at the moment counting asterisks in ASCII art—obviously doing something wrong…

Hi JF

I had to leave the game last night. This morning I hope to finish it by end of day.

You are right, the beginning in the tunnels is random. You have to figure it out on your own. The graphics are amazing though and even if I had to start over, not a problem. I would definitely play this game again.

I'm stuck in the same place you are and my scribbles make no sense to me so I am off to be a spy.

Laqueus 5

I had to consult a walk through video. One of the clues

snow / glitter globe

was hard to read.

I made it out (with lots of help) and now I'm stuck

outside on some kind of balcony.

I still had the crowbar and tried to use it on a door and the door opened slightly but then the crowbar fell through the space below the balcony.

I looked around and found some kind of equipment behind the wooden pallets. When I use that on the door, I get a message that I can't use it because something is missing.

So I look around and find an I beam at the foot of the stairs. I tried combining the I beam with the mystery missing something equipment but nothing happens.

Is that the ending??

Just stuck on the balcony??

I watched the end of the walk through and my experience was not at all what the walk through showed. It ends with you going up the stairs and it fades out and says to be continued.

What happened to me? Did anyone else have the ending I got?

jF December 17, 2021 8:14 PM replied to 4red3s

I got the "to be continued" ending, but can't quite remember what I did—I was half-asleep at the time. But I think what happened was:

I created a jack from the mystery components, and used it to force the door open after the crowbar broke.

This was definitely one of the harder Laqueus Escape games.

The only mystery components I found were the

thing behind the wooden pallets which was missing something and the I beam at the bottom of the stairs. Neither of which worked together.

I finally had to just close the window and leave. Could someone post here if there was another component that I missed?

I found 3 youtube walk throughs and all 3 show once you open the door and get on the balcony, you go right and before you get to the top of the stairs the game fades out and says "to be continued".

This is very curious. I would like to know what went different with my experience. I did not get all three "cards" just one which I forgot to look for. I only checked the endings of the walk throughs so I don't know if that made a difference or not.

I can't remember what the

3rd component was, but I do remember you use that with the thing from behind the pallets, and then use the I-beam last, after it breaks.

I bet those walkthrough videos are showing the game as seen in the app, not the browser version. With the browser version, you actually step into a door at the far end of the catwalk before getting that "to be continued" message.

Might have to play it again just to refresh my memory, but I want to say that…

…you pick up one part of the jack as you exit the room and turn left. Then you pick up the other part somewhere at the far end of the catwalk, right by the door that you break the crowbar on. If memory is correct, there are some pallets or something in that corner or the railing, and the jack base is behind/beneath them.

Sorry, all—if I knew everybody was going to be tripped up on it, I'd have been paying much better attention so I might be more helpful!

Okay, bit the bullet and played back through Laqueus Escape - Chapter 5 to see what goes on. And I took notes!

Once you get the door of the room open, here's what happens:

You step out the door onto a dangerous catwalk, and the door immediately closes behind you. Looking to the left and down, you see a twisted piece of yellow metal from whatever damaged the catwalk. Grab that yellow metal and bring it with you.

Turn around, and click the top of the metal stairs to go up to the next level. The catwalk turns to the left here, and in the corner are a couple of wooden pallets. Zoom in to them and look at them from the left to find a metal contraption hidden behind them. Pick it up.

Continue along the upper level to another door, which is stuck. The crowbar manages to get it open a tiny bit, but slips and falls into the abyss below. Look around, and at the corner of the railing you'll see a metal pole sticking up. Take it, and examine the metal contraption. If you select this metal pole and combine it with the contraption, it suddenly becomes a very recognizable jack. Use it on the door to pry it open a bit further. But oh no, it breaks and also falls into the abyss!

We're now left with just the twisted piece of yellow metal, but it's worth a shot. With it, you can get the door open a bit more, just enough to let you squeeze through. When you step in, you're in a dark hallway with a doorway visible ahead. But before you can approach it, the chapter ends.

Hopefully that will help anyone who doesn't know what to do at the end. Those video walkthroughs must be from the app version, because there's still a bit more game after you leave the room.

If you're stuck anywhere else, ask—I paid close attention this time!  😁

Thank you for doing that. I might play again just to get the ending. The music, the atmosphere is lovely in this game.
