Find the Escape-Men Part 100 Special

DoraWhen was the last time you made one hundred of anything? no1game has been making escape games for years, and now all that effort has reached one pretty massive milestone with Find the Escape-Men Part 100 Special. After playing all the Escape-Men games, you wake up in one seriously weird little town sporting more than a few familiar faces. As usual, if you want to find a way out, you'll need to hunt down ten elusive little green men, but this time you'll be running all over a map to do so, getting the help of different characters from other games and developers, as well as finding the items they need and solving puzzles, too! There's no changing cursor, so you'll need to click everywhere to leave no stone unturned. You can click items (or characters) in your inventory to highlight them for use, or click the little question mark beside their icon to examine them up close, which could let you manipulate them, or just give you a clue. Sometimes you may need to leave an object or person alone for a while in order for something to happen, so keep checking back in places to see if anything changes, or just hang around for a while to see if anything else will happen if you're patient.

One of the biggest complaints about the Escape-Men games even with fans has been that they tend to be both very short, and very easy. For the most part, Part 100 addresses both concerns by being a lot bigger and more creative than almost any other game in the series to date. The same issues persist, of course... some item uses aren't that obvious or logical, the lack of a changing cursor means it's easy to miss some places or things that provide no visual indication for you to examine them, and what in the ever loving world is that weight lifter talking about? And was that seriously a dirty joke about a handkerchief, or was something lost in translation? Still, there's a lot to like here, with some extremely goofy humour, funny moments, and a ton of creativity. For an achievement over five years in the making, Find the Escape-Men Part 100 Special is a wonderful, silly treat that fans will love. Remember, folks... always thank your developer. They do all this for you for free!

FIND THE ESCAPE-MEN 100: SPECIAL -- pretzel style walkthrough

(This walkthrough is a little different. If it says to go somewhere, then you should, or you might get stuck. "Later" means that you'll come back to that section later, so don't click those spoilers yet.)

Let's get going!

After you select your language and start the game you see a map:

Snack Bar EM'S

Go inside and hit on the barmaid. Then, find the television and turn it on.

See the brown guy?

Let's make him green.

Open the panel and fiddle with the levers. Then, take the escape man you've created.

And, don't forget to

grab the microphone from behind the TV.

Now, let's find Joe...

Pick up the dog sleeping next to Joe. It's super action dog Wan!

Let's go back and hit on the waitress again.

But, this time, let's sing a duet with her.

Give her the microphone. A little Island in a Stream later and you got yourself an escape man. Let's head to city hall.

Later on…

She won't find us if we hide behind the counter.

Dive over the counter by clicking above the plate on the right side.

Oh, hey! Is this the foreshadowed fish we had to fry? Perhaps. Let's grab it.

...with the rubber gloves. It's an electric eel!

I'll bet Jitter has calmed down by now. Let's go back to city hall and try to make things right.

Pict City Hall

When you go inside, you'll see a crowd waiting for a show. Let's help them out.
But, first, let's

pick up yellow locks Johnny, and help him with his problem.

Go to the Barber shop.

Later…

The crowd is still there, but we've brought back their entertainment.

Put Jitter on the stage and give her something to do with her hands.

The handkerchief, for example.

Oh, no! We've ruined her career! Let's get out of here! Nobody will find us behind the counter in the snack bar!

More later…

Jitter is still here, but the crowd is demanding an encore! Well, isn't that a shining star of a lucky break. wink wink.

Click on the flashing star that appears at stage left.

It's a magic handkerchief! Grab that bad boy and go give it to Jitter right away!

OOOOooooooh! A magic show AND an escape man. This school festival rocks! But, it's time to go check on Johnny back at the barber shop.

More more later…

Cool. We made it just in time for the escape man comedian.

Stay for the big punch line at the end of his act, then pick him up. His career in stand-up is over, and he's in no shape to drive home. What about a taxi?

Go to the taxi stop.

Hey, there's one already here. But, where's the driver?

Is he under the taxi?

No, but super action cat Nyan is!

Is he behind the taxi?

Maybe smoking a ciggy near the passenger side door? Yup! Grab that escape man! Then go to the park!

Barber Gabriel

There's nobody here! Maybe they're in back, waiting for a customer.

Sit Johnny in the chair and come back later. Head for the Park.

Later on...

Holy chrome dome, Batman! Johnny's bald! Let Johnny and the barber fight and pick up the spoils.

A pair of rubber gloves and a handkerchief.

Let's leave the barber shop and go back to city hall.

More later on…

Well, Johnny sure did a number on that barber. Now he's just a laying there like some kind of escape man waiting for us to bag and tag.

Grab the escape man and go back to city hall. That school festival is still in progress. Don't want to miss any other great acts!

EM Park

Lots of nice people enjoying the weather but… wait…

WAS THAT SUPERMAN?! I guess we'll have to come back later and see. Right now, we have other fish to fry.

Guess who's hiding behind that orange scarf?

Why it's Jitter! Pick her up and head for the pond.

Not much you can do at the pond just yet. Let's go back to the barber shop and check on Johnny.

Later…

Hey, it's the flying guy again! Oh well. Let's go sit by the pond and think about how we can get him down.

While we're here, can we finally do something about that bamboo pipe?

Throw the electric eel in the pond and see what happens.

Zap zap zap! Grab the escape man.

Take the scroll from his hand and read it. It doesn't help you with the flying man conundrum, but it does fill you with a feeling on wisdom. Does it not?

Hang out a while and think about the flying man. Hmmmmmmmmm…

I'll bet that super action dog Wan and super action cat Nyan can help us.

Let's combine them so their power of cooperation will be increased.

Go back to the park and wait for the flying man.

Use Wan and Nyan on the flying man. If you don't get it right, just wait for the flying man to come across again and keep trying.

You have to click him every time there is a new speech bubble.

Looks like there's nothing left to do but go to the boxing gym for a nice workout.

EM Boxing Gym

It seems empty. Let's see what we can find through the ropes on the right side.

Hrrrrrrrng! That's a heavy barbell. But, don't help him until he asks for it. Don't want to carry hay in your horns. What?!

As soon as he asks for your "help", click him twice. The escape man is yours!

Now, let's see what we can find through the left side ropes.

It can't really be just the other side of the ring.

Did you find the boxing gloves under the boxing ring dust ruffle?

Okay, that's enough procrastinating. TIME TO BOX!

If you have the gloves, the boxing trainer will appear in the ring. Box with him using the gloves.

Is it your best?! No, because you haven't mastered The Hundred Crack Fist of EM. Better read the scroll again.

While holding the scroll, punch the trainer. KAPOW! You knocked off his disguise. It's escape man grabbin' time!

Epilogue

So, you've done everything there is to do. Right? You helped Johnny tame his tresses. You helped Jitter find her magical calling. You defeated the flying man and the boxing trainer. You made sweet sweet music with the barmaid. You solved the mystery of the bamboo pipe. That makes 10, right? Ten fabulous Find the Escape-Men 100 Special escape men. Right? Hmmm.

Hey, what's this left over item in the inventory? Take a closer look.

Looks like when we picked up the escape man in the pond and took his scroll, we actually kidnapped a fainting ninja instead. But, he's totes an escape man in disguise, surely. Click on him! NOW NOW NOW!

You win! One Hundred escape men games in the bag. And that means 1000 escape men discovered. Click through the history lesson and enjoy your victory.

Oh my goodness!

I'm an escape man!

I once saw somebody said Part 100 would have 100 green man to found.

That was simply the best idea ever...

I've only found 8 men so far. I'm stuck on

what to do with the boxing guy and the pipe in the lake. I have boxing gloves and rubber gloves.

shipoo:

Peek behind the snack bar's counter. You'll find the first of all your answers there, and the rest should flow.

Wow! This is by far one of my favorites. I loved the throwbacks to previous green men escape games as well as to the Reisin series and another set of games whose title I cannot find or remember.

@shipoopie: Thanks for the excellent walkthrough. I don't think I would have beat this one without the help. My constant clicking around was unsuccessful in finding certain hot spots. Darn pixel hunting :p

I've found 5 EM's and am now stuck. I've found:

The barber
The lady behind the counter
Guy smoking behind the taxi
TV guy
Bench press guy
And there's an EM in the boxing ring but I don't know how to collect him. My items are:
Shivers or Frizzles or whatever her name is, whom I put on the stage
A handkerchief
A dog
A cat
Boxing gloves
Rubber gloves

Help please!

@Leopardmask

Look at the clue that SonicLover gave me. That one helped a lot. Things progressed for me pretty good after that one.

I love that the boxing trainer is disguised as Danpei Tange from Ashita no Joe.

I saw this yesterday and the walkthrough is a little complicated as it jumps around a lot. is there a better one in the works that's Step by Step? halfway through I got confused.

@Paul

If there is no walkthrough, posting about where you are stuck works kind of like a walkthrough because maybe someone else will give you a clue. If nobody posts a walkthrough, ever, then a whole conversation about getting through the game might happen and then it's like a walkthrough just creates itself. Not to re-mention that power of the post thing. It's a real thing. If you are able to describe what items you have and what puzzle you think you are stuck on (and even the things you've already tried) sometimes that process moves your brain around in an unexpected way and the solution reveals itself. Then, you can reply to your own post with the solution you discovered and it helps others.

As far as the pretzel style walkthrough goes, when you move to a new place, try closing the spoiler box for the place you just left. That'll keep things shorter and easier to scroll around and when you come back to that place, the spoilers that aren't opened yet are where you begin again in that place.

Also, for some reason, being able to explain something to someone else makes you learn that thing better. So, try to create a walkthrough for yourself. (Either for a game you've already played or for one of the ones that Reka suggested a while ago.) If you can puzzle out the best way to finish a game, then the next game might be a little bit easier because your brain spent a lot of time analyzing the puzzles of one game and the next game will likely have some of the same style puzzles. e.g. -

shaky picture frame, shape sides = numbers, a color here matches a shape there and a number someplace else, levers on a device match the weird pattern on some curtains, greek letters go in a certain order based on a shadow pattern on a wall that you can only see after turning out the lights and turning on a flashlight after putting an item on a shelf.

That can't help you with pixel hunts, though. Pixel hunts require serendipity and/or asking for help. Darn you pixel hunts!

well i'm the kind of person who can't play unless i have a walkthrough. :) hehe.

Paul:

Forgive me for asking this question-- I'm not trying to change you, I just want to understand your thought processes-- but if you can't play without a walkthrough, then why DO you play in the first place?

thanks dora. yeah i guess that sums it up in a way.

Can anyone please tell me why these games just will not load for me? :S

I did have a blocker on Dora, Thank you! I didn't realise it was on. It's all working now :)
