Welcome to PC Games Tuesday - this week presents action adventure Cursed Travels: Flame of the Banshee by Ferociter!
You arrive to a small town cursed by a powerful malevolent force. The town is dark and gloomy (it's November probably) and the locals you talk to aren't cheerful to put it mildly. No wonder, the souls of the departed ones are returning to our world and are haunting them. Town's inhabitants desperately need an experienced investigator to break the curse, and that's the job right for you!
Wishing you happy playing of an excellent action adventure!
Immediately after your arrival you experience the evil forces which flooded the town on your own. They didn't realise that their doom had came - you know how to deal with cursed souls like nobody else. The priest in the local church gives you the first hint and then you can start to get ready for the final countdown. To exterminate the powerful banshee, you need to collect ten souls and not surprisingly, they don't want to be imprisoned by you (and later be fed to your helper) and put up strong resistance. Your task is to find the place where they occur, attract them or force them to emerge from darkness, and catch them. Not easy, but only a fool can think that capturing cursed souls is simple!
It's important to talk to anybody you meet. Well the town's inhabitants don't stay outside much from obvious reasons so you meet them in their homes mostly. They don't protest but won't tell you information directly, just hints, and you need to put them together and deduce the place where a wandering soul resides and the proper method of catching it. It's always a small battle to defeat it (and a lot of jumping) since they replenish their force pretty quickly. Can you put an end to the curse?
We've met Ferociter (Casper Van Dommelen) before and not only once, and both games introduced earlier (PC Games Tuesday N°2 and PC Games Tuesday N°7) are excellent in the own way. Now we get an amospheric and haunting adventure with action elements, nice puzzles, and perfectly fitting soundtrack. Quite a small game with minimalistic design has surprisingly much content and nuances, and high playability.
Controlled by Cursor keys or WASD, X/L keys to interact, Z/K/Up/W keys to jump, Down/S to crouch.
It might be a small game, but it took me quite a while to play - great game and I look forward to the sequel
