ChrononChronon is a brand new and unusual point-and-click puzzle game from On of Eyezmaze. The time-based puzzle takes place in the dwelling of a creature that leaves early in the morning and returns in the evening. The objective of the game is to manipulate objects at various times throughout the day to complete the story.

Click on items to act upon them, if possible, and change the time of day by clicking on the time buttons along the top of the game window.

Analysis: As usual, On delights us with yet another creative and original game featuring strange and unusual characters, and yet it is not without potential pitfalls. The design of the game depends on the player changing the time to manipulate objects that, in turn, affect the sequence of events that play out throughout the day. The problem is that since the player can change anything at any time period it becomes rather easy to create inconsistencies between time periods that are likely to confuse the player. Also, some objects behave differently depending on the time of day, and this serves to add to the confusion. For example, placing the clock on the wall at 6:15 displays the 'correct' time throughout the day (tilt your head so that the position where 3 would be on a normal clock is at the 12 o'clock position), while placing the clock on the wall at any other time will produce different results. Time plays a significant part of the game play (obviously), so I won't say more about it.

It's an ambitious design that requires careful analysis and observation to yield any results at all, and sometimes those results lead to incorrect endings, as On is often wont to do. Unfortunately, without a back story or an introductory narrative, the player is thrown into a puzzle for which there is no obvious goal to work toward, which doesn't help with the confusion factor.

Of course, the game has only been just released and carries with it a version 0 beta indicator, and so there may yet be some additions made to help the player along. That being said, the game in its present form offers a unique puzzle experience for anyone willing to struggle through the confusion and subtle inconsistencies to figure out the solution to this very original new game from Eyezmaze.

Play Chronon

Cheers to Justin, Kristina and Jordan for alerting me that Eyezmaze just released this new game today. =)

14:55

Put wreath in fireplace.
Put firewood in fireplace.
Put ledge in fireplace.
Put pan on table.
Put all ingredients (except water and poison!) in to the pan. You don't have to put the water (ingredient) in the pan, if you do that, the bread doesn't grow as much as it can, and you end up with 92/100, so don't put either the water or the poison in the pan.
Put clock on shelf.

18:10

Put pan in (burning) fireplace.
Put clock on wall.

19:00

Congratulations!
If you used the poison, the big guy turns to stone while the green monster is tossed out. Fun to see, but not the solution.

Wow Jay! I love the works of this site, how they brought the grow series to life, and then they make this? How genius!

I love that each item can do more then one thing, and that theres a twist of logic that has to be singed into each of these amazing puzzles.

Your site keeps my boredome at bay!

I had a dream that I wrote a steller review for your site last night! Lol! =D

An update! And this one looks very entertaining... best get started...

Reply

Wow, I really stink at these games.

Here's what I know so far:

You need to put the pot on the table to place the ingredients in it. Also, the time missing at the top can be found in the chest.

Woah! This is hard!!!! Has anybody figured it out yet?

I still don't get this. I can only get 20/100!

How are you supposed to cook the food, if you can. And can you open the chest?

Reply

This is really hard...I've only reached 40/100, here's what I've got so far:

Opened the chest, got the white egg, lit the candle, pour the ingredients, and that's it, I have no idea what to do with the guy that comes out form the big egg.

To get the little guy on the roof:

make the space in the fireplace larger so he can leave that way

If you hatch the egg to get the green dude you can't put the ingredients in the pot...

How do you get the missing time!!!

Sorry...this is hard...

Reply
Madpeon May 20, 2006 8:58 PM

How exactly to you "set the clock"

Reply

I'll explain how I did everything I mentioned:

The clock is the key to many things. First you need to go to 12:25 and set the clock, then go to 14:55 and there will be a key to unlock the chest on top of the clock. Then go to 6:15 and click the clock again. Then go to 9:45 and there will be an egg on top. Then go to 14:55 and click the clock to put it on the shelf. Finally, go to 14:55 and set the clock again. Now, if you go to 19:00 there will be a candle on top of the clock. I don't know what it is for though.
The thing with the ingredients is kinda weird. You can select them at 9:45, but it doesn't always work, I think it has something to do with the little guy that hatches from the egg. I've been able to do lots of things with him, but nothing too useful. You can send it to the roof, but then he'll disappear, you can have him on top of the table or on the floor. You can also put the mirror or the jars with or without water in his hands, If he goes to the roof with one of the jars he drops it. Also, at 12:25 the jar on the right side is filled with water. Again, I don't know what to do with it.

Reply

it seems there are quite a few bugs in this game... when you swich quickly some weird things happen

Reply
shadytrees May 20, 2006 9:08 PM

That's such an awesome, cozy house.

Reply

While I have not actually solved the puzzle yet, here is what I have been able to do:

6:15

1) open the curtains
2) put the wreath on the table
3) place the egg on the wreath

9:05

1) remove the ledge from the fireplace

12:25

1) put the clock on the wall

14:55

1) click the key on the clock to open the chest and reveal the missing time

9:45

1) put the pot on the table
2) add the ingredients
3) not sure what else to do from here

Reply

what do you do with the green guy

that hatches out of the egg?

Reply
phtester May 20, 2006 9:20 PM

You need to tie the rope to the green man before he goes up the chimney

Reply

I'll add a couple of things:

As far as I can tell, the little guy must remain in the house. When I let him leave the max scrore I get is 30/100, when I let him stay, the max scrore is 40/100. However, there's a lot of stuff which you can't do when he's inside. If he's not in the house, you can pour the water that's in the jar at 12:25 into the pot, also, I think that you can't pour any of the other ingredients if the guy is inside. You can let him leave and then pour all of the stuff and then go back in time and let him come back, and the stuff will stay poured, however, I'm not sure if that is a bug or not.

Reply

how can you get the green guy to leave the house?

Reply

Also, if you let the guy stay inside:

then the creature throws him out when he gets home, which makes me think he's not supposed to stay inside(?)

Reply

9:05

I managed to tie the green guy to the removed shelf and he takes a rope up to the roof. Should help in escaping if I could get out the cage

Reply

well..

little guy is the only thing that can use the mirror.. so hes gotta stay inside

Reply

once the little green guy hatches go to 9:45, then he will move under the table, then put all the ingredients in, the put the ledge back on the fireplace, then put the pot on the fire place...
thats all i know, so far i got 45/100

Reply
Megaflare May 20, 2006 9:26 PM

Monster hint:

He has to go outside AND come back inside. Play with the rope.

I'm up to 65/100. Stuck.

Reply

So far...

I've gotten the missing time, white egg, firewood (which is under the cage), hatched the egg, let the green monster outside, tied the rope to the fireplace ledge, and flooded the inside of the house.

To get the missing time (9:45):

set the clock on the wall during 12:25 and 14:55, but keep it on the ledge all the time beforehand.

To hatch the egg:

At 6:15, put the wreath on the table, then put the big green egg on top.

To remove the firewood under the cage:

Keep the clock on the wall at 6:15 and 9:05. At 9:05, put the clock's tail straight down. When you go to 9:45, the cage will be lifted, and then you can move the firewood.

To let the green monster out:

Remove the ledge out of the fireplace at any time.

To tie the rope to the fireplace ledge:

After the green egg is hatched, remove the ledge from the fireplace and click on the rope.

Oh, and by the way -

You can give the green guy the mirror and he'll get down from the table. Don't know what good this does, but...

Reply

scratch my last post!

Reply

That's a big help Crauf.

Reply

I managed to have the little guy bring back inside a berry, which caused a tunnel to get dug up under the table.

I am guessing the goal of the game is to help the little yellow guy in the cage escape.

Reply

Apparently, milk grows on trees in this game.

The cute green monster can come back, as long as he's attached to the rope. If you send him out with a bottle, then he comes back with a bottle of milk from the pink milk tree.

Reply
Megaflare May 20, 2006 9:38 PM

Ok. Up to 80/100.. even got the little guy free. I imagine the other part is to poison the monster... can't seem to get the fireplace fully lit though.

Reply

so far ive managed to

get the missing time and egg from the clock, hatch the egg get the green guy on the roof
and flood the house

...what else do i have to do?

Reply

i can't burn the wood!

Reply

how do you get the candle from the clock?

Reply

70/100, here's how I got to that:
6:15

Place the egg

9:05

Give the guy the mirror, open the chimney and tie the rope. Also, pull the clock's tail.

9:45

Take out the firewood, and click the rope to bring the guy back down. Also, pour the ingredients.

12:25

Tie the berry to the rope.

And I don't know how to get the rest yet.

Dyslexic Q-Thief May 20, 2006 9:40 PM

If you set the clock at 6:15, a small egg will appear on top. You can use it as an ingrediant although I'm not sure what it does.

Reply

9:05

If the green guy takes a bottle he brings down a berry and milk which i assume you add to the pot with the egg and ingredients

Im on 75/100 .... wonder how to light the fire

Reply
phtester May 20, 2006 9:51 PM

I got the firewood, and the berry, then the green guy stomps the cage and the little yellow guy escapes (yay!) through the tunnel under the table, but there must be something with the pot left to do

Reply

At 14:55, if you have the bottle with water on the left side, they green guy has the mirror and the wreath is on the table, the wreath lites up. I can't seem to be able to both poor the milk and get the wreath lit up though.

Reply
Madpeon May 20, 2006 9:55 PM

Found something

If you give the guy the mirror at 12.55 when there is a big light beam, it shines onto the table.. though for what puprpose i don't know

Reply

i finished it! yahoooo

don't be mean to the monster!

Reply

I'VE WON!

Reply

If you put the wreath in the fire place before the wood the wood spreads out differently but it seems you have to light it first. I have the light channelled through the mirror. Is that a candle on the clock?

Reply
phtester May 20, 2006 10:02 PM

There seems to be a firecracker (red stripy thingie) on the clock. Is this important? Has someone used it?

Reply

I sat down to type up a walkthrough for half of this-as far as I have gotten-but this game is... different... a walkthrough will take time for the way this game is made, with time effecting everything, well, let's just say it is a lot harder to write than for a linear game like Hapland3.

Reply
Madpeon May 20, 2006 10:04 PM

YES!! I lit the wreath

Put wreath on table before 12.55 then at 12.55 it will be on fire, move into fireplace and place wood on top. Move saucepan to the table add ingredients, go ahead one, then put pot into fireplace, the black dude goes all funny, but it doesn't finish...

Can someone write a basic storyline for this? So people like me can actually get what's going on.

Reply

I got up to 75/100
Wasen't really keeping track, so I'm going back now in a new window to retrace all my setps for spoilers.

Start by jumping ahead to 12:25. move the wreath and place the clock on the wall. Go to 14:55 and click the key on top of the clock to unlock the missing time.

Go back to 6:15 and put the wreath on the table, followed by the large egg, also open the drapes. This will cause your monster to hatch.

Place the clock on the wall and click the tail to attach it to the cage. Now proceed to 9:05 and make sure the clock tail is still attached to the cage.

Still at 9:05 give the left bottle to the monster, move the shelf from the fireplace, and attach the rope to the monster.

At 9:45, you'll find the monster on the roof filling the bottle and getting a berry with his tail. Move the wreath from the table and put the pot there instead. Click the rope attached to the fireplace shelf to pull him back down.

You'll see that the clock now has the small egg on top and has lifted the cage fomr the floor. Click the egg to unlock the ingredient. Also move the wreath to the wall and click the wood that was formerly under the cage to place it on the shelf.

Click all the ingredients on the shelf to add to the pot.

At 12:25, it rains. Without the cover on the chiminey (removed by the monster) the rain pours in and the monster climbs on the cage for safety. Take both the berry and the milk fomr him.

Add both milk and water to the pot and give the mirror to the monster.

A lot changes now moving to 14:55; the mole-thing has dug to both the berry on the surface, and under the table, draining the water. The monster's weight has broken your cage open, and, if the roof shutter is open, you can reflect light with the mirror. Put the wreath then the firewood in the fireplace to make stacked firewood. Also, place the shelf back in the fireplace, and put the pot on the shelf.

I'm not sure where to go from here. The guy gets as far as the tunnel and apparently just dies at 19:00. However, if you take the clock from the wall at 14:55 and put it back at 18:10, you can cause the candle to appare on top of the clock at 19:00

Reply

This looks scary, a bit complicated, and all fun.
But I'm going to wait until I have some time to spare ;D.

Reply

Ahh, I have an ammendment to the above walkthrough

at 12:25, after the berry is under the table, attach the rope to it. This allows the guy to have a way to climb up after 18:10 when he is in the hole. However, this will only get you as high as 80/100.
I assume so becasue the giant didnt get dinner. If someone can find how to light the stacked wood, im quite sure that with my walkthrough you can get 100/100!!

Reply

I think it would have been better if I knew the storyline...

Reply

Hey everybody. I see a lot of people complaining that they didn't understand the story.

All you need to do is to browse the times to see what would happen if you don't follow the walkthrough. Sometimes the effect is only seen if you go forwards a few times. For example,

the berry is needed to dry the floor. The rope attached to it is needed to help the little guy up the tunnel.

As for Doerfy:

The pot needs to be on the table, not on the fireplace, when you add the ingredients (14:55). Just put it on the table and click on all the ingredients. It should be in the fireplace at 18:10.

Finally,

I just found out that all the ingredients except the egg, milk and bag of powder are optional!

BOOM!YourConfetti May 21, 2006 8:16 PM

All of you people having trouble with the fire

You have to make sure that the water is on the left instead of the right, for some reason the reflection of the mirror doesn't narrow as much -- in other words as effective -- as the milk jar. That should help you.

Reply

On posted it on his blog now, unfortunately he doesn't have the post set to comments.

If he did I would really want to tell him that the game rocks since he seemed very displeased with it.

And also I want mention that the game really needs a reset button (for future versions) because of the convoluted state machine that the puzzle of the game is. Even though the F5-key works.

About the clock

First I suggest you get the items from the clock, i.e. hang it at 12:25 and get key at 14:55 and then hang it at 6:15 and get egg at 9:45. Then you can continue with the walkthrough. The concept of clock ticking and sleeping had me analyse the distance between times and calculating when the hour hand points at individual items on the clock face. Great game by the way.

Typically, the number of critical postings reflects the number of players who just failed to understand a game. Add me to that list. I typically love these types of games (Hapland, Warbears, etc), but I couldn't get into this one. Kudos to On for trying such an ambitious game. Maybe I'll come back to it when I have more time, but I wasn't too crazy about this one. I guess it's the fact that it's difficult to get a consistent visual record of the changes you make, since you have to keep going forward and backwards in time.

I managed to get to 95/100 before having to resort to spoilers.

My problem was not knowing that the rope could be tied to the apple before the mole monster ate it. With the rope stretching through the tunnel, the yellow guy is unable to fill in the hole behind him.

The ending screen is incredibly charming!!

I cleared 100/100 with help of Arseniy's walkthrough.
Can't see how people didn't get 100/100 when there is a walkthrough right ahead of you

Reply

i cant get the key can anyone help?

Reply

I did good! I got 96 out of 100. I don't know what i did wrong not to get 100 out of 100.

Reply

i get 100 out of 100 thanks for the help

Thank you for all the comments and walkthroughs that were posted, I never could have done it without help, and loved how, at the end

the big guy threw out the cage

I got 96% and finished in the end the grey guy turns nice and they (yellow green and grey dude) all eat the thing you cooked and are happy the end :D

Reply
bengimin August 9, 2008 3:03 PM

it doesnt matter if you put in water or not

Reply

thnx guys

Reply

The walkthrough at the top does not get you 100/100

In Sam's original walkthrough, before Imok20 put the spoilers in, it says to add all of the ingredients except the poison AND WATER!

If you do add the water, then you will get 80/100, because the cake doesn't rise as much.

I think that Imok20 just accidentally missed that bit.

Reply

I cant click on the berry plz help

Reply

I figured out that if you put the egg in the pot along with the rest of the stuff except the poison, it will make a cake but I dont know what the candle does

Reply

I managed 100/100. Just do as Sam says, but do not put the water in and congratulations, it is done!

Reply

How do you put the wreath in the fireplace? I don't get that part..

Reply

Okay...

if you don't put the poison in, he is happy and they eat dinner together.

A hint for all who have only 96 of 100 points. It's necessary that the candle is on the top of the clock to get 100 percent. So when you have mastered everything except for this, then go back to 14:55 and put the clock on the shelf. At 18:10 put the clock on the wall again and by switching to 19:00 you should gain the last 4 points.

Reply

You have to make the green guy sit on the cage as well, the figure gets out then.

Reply

when cooking the food dont add the water!!!!!!

I got a candle and a congrats!

Anonymous July 4, 2009 12:23 PM

the ending is determined by what you put in the food not adding water gets the bread to rise adding poison only the yellow guy is happy not adding 1 of the ingredients the food burns it all depends on the food

Reply
Pyroninja August 16, 2009 4:52 PM

leave the clock on the wall for the last step! then you get 100%

Reply

hahaha cool i found a better ending with the little burrowing monster happy too :D

dont add water, the bread thing puffs up higher and they give a small piece on a plate to the little burrow monster thingy

Reply

I like it better with the poison =b

i keep getting just 92 pts following the walkthrough

Reply

Okay! This is what you do. In the order I give it to you.

12:25 Put the clock on the wall.
14:55 Get the key from the top of the clock.

YOU NOW HAVE 9:45

12:25 Put the clock back.
6:15 Put the clock on the wall
9:45 Get the Egg from the top of the clock.
6:15 click the tail of the clock.
9:45 Remove the wood from under the cage to top shelf.
6:15 Move Nest thing to table then the egg. Open the curtain.
9:05 Click the rope and remove rack from fire place.
9:45 Click the rope that is now tied to the green guy.
12:25 Click the apple that the green guy has.
9:45 Click the wood back under the cage. Click the nest onto the shelf. Place pot on desk. Put the nest on the wall. The wood back on the shelf.
12:25 Put filled water glass into pot.
14:55 Put Rack back into fire place. Put Pot on rack. Put wood in nest in fire place. Put wood in fire place.

I can't figure out how to get the Candle out of the clock.
That will get you pretty far.
You will be out of the cage.

I think the candle is supposed to light the fire place to cook the poison soup.
Then the Black guy will eat it and Die.
Then you and that green guy can live together.
Or something.

Hope that helped.

sam's walkthrough is correct, but he just added the water. Turns out its for 1 purpose only. without adding water, the cake is bigger.......I think its weird. i made to 72/100 myself. I didnt know how to light the nest -_- Then I figured out i put the milk and the water in the wrong containers X_X. But thanks anyway~

I managed to get the trapped guy out. when you let the green guy out, at 9:45 pull him back in by clicking the rope inside. then put something on the table so he doesnt go there, then go to 12:25 and he will be on the cage. go to 14:55 and the cage will be bent and then at 18:10 the guy gets out and go to 19:00 and the housekeeper will be angry, the bird will be kicked out, and the guy will be happy on top of the house. I got 64/100.

Reply

Solution...

Do everything but leave water and poison out of pan!

Reply

once you have got to the part when you have added the ingredients into the pan add the milk and water next to the table aswell ;-) then congrats

nickil333 August 26, 2011 3:37 PM

Do not add the water and you will get 100/100 and you will be free

Hey, there's something wrong in the spoilers, almost at the end...

Here is the correction:

You don't have to put the water (ingredient) in the pan, if you do that, the bread doesn't grow as much as it can, and you end up with 92/100, so don't put neither the water nor the poison.
