hobobob

Lori.hTimes are tough. One minute you can have a cushy job, the next you can be out on the streets, with only a pair of whitie-tighties to your name. Hobo Bob has lived the tale but has also found his way out of it. Free jobs! But only so many, and the line... oh so long. But Hobo Bob is a brilliant man and one with unknown skills. Crash your way through the factory to get to your (hopefully) future boss before anyone else, in Wolves' new jumpandrun game. Interact with obstacles that get in your way and help Hobo Bob get back on his feet. Or at least into a pair of pants.

There is something oddly adorable about Hobo Bob, as he skips through the level menu, and disturbingly dances in celebration of finishing a level. This charming little guy may make the game look simple, but it is far from it. You start off with one action: jump. But as the levels go on you gain more obstacles and more skills. The challenge not only comes from the need of fast acting reflexes but also remembering the newer actions. Wolve knows gamers and he knows what habits we get into and how they can trip us up. Thankfully, as Hobo Bob runs and preforms his actions he gains points. Which you'll need as points gives you extra hit points to use up when you bounce off of walls or doors. As the beginning game of a weekly series, it sets a high bar for Wolve, but if the rest are as charming as this one we are all in for a weekly treat.

Is it just me or my computer or is this game seriously lagging when grinding? Totally unwanted with a timing-based game like this...

While the gameplay isn't very appealing to me, I am so into the whole art style and music! So incredibly silly, I'm giggling the whole time. I'm definitely following this guy/girl's weekly game experiments :)

the most frustrating thing for me is how they introduce new game elements. Each one gets a new key, but that key is not someplace where I can easily use it from the position I was using, so I shift my hand position, and now have to relearn all of the controls. Then they introduce another element and I have to do it again.

Awful! I'd like to be able to jump BEFORE you tell me which key I can use. And I'd like to be able to control my jump and not keep falling down the same effing hole because your game insists EVERY jump I make MUST be the same height & length.

Also, resetting me back to the very start when I die is SUPER annoying as I'll never learn how to get over the same hole I keep falling down.

Which isn't even very far FROM the effing start.

Not very playable at all.
Also, arrow keys exist for this exact reason.
Google Canabalt.
