BlueTaslem, CGDC stands for Casual Gameplay Design Competition. This seems to be JiG's way of announcing them now.

I know what it means. But a banner barely says anything other than "Yes, it is going to happen, eventually, at some time or another" which everyone already knew.

Okay.... Now, whats with the guy standing on some sort of weird shape?

I bet that the theme's not Interactive Fiction.

With these clues, we can probably guess the theme for CGDC #8.

I'd say survival or competition, perhaps. The way the letters look is dirty and earthy, so that's why I'd say survival. However, the man is apparently running, so it could also be competition.

Maybe . . . gold rush? The letters could be rocks with sparkly bits, and the guy looks like he's running toward the sunset (which in the US, would be consistent with running toward California where the gold rush was). Totally random guessing though . . .

Maybe we're having a pre-competition competition :)

Given the art deco, it will be a race to throw your laptop into the dirt. Come on people! Who can do it first?!!

Hey, does this remind anyone else of the loading screen in cortex command? The gold stuff in the lettering looks like the gold in cortex command. Just saying ;)
It might be a sort of spelunky theme. The exploring of caves under the ground. Think about it.

Actually I don't think the fat dude is really a fat dude, I think it's a fat baby. And what do babies play in? Sandboxes. Given that the rest of the banner looks all sandy, I agree with TheRealTJ and olgofonz. I think the theme is sandbox.

People, people, people, that's not a fat guy that's a Samurai Warrior! It's going to be a Japanese theme! Woop Woop!

The banner is a fat guy on the beach running between oil that has washed up on the beach from the leak in the shape of CGDC8. We get to design a game that creates a way to plug/stop the leak and clean up the ocean......or its "escape".

Call me crazy, but I didn't realized that could be the guys shadow; I saw a woman with a crazy person shaped hairdo. Do you see it? The space between the man and his shadow is the face; the shadow is the body/shirt.

This is exciting.

Sandbox? Particle physics? Summer?

The letters remind me of either a hole being filled with delicious buttery popcorn, or a collapsing tunnel. A fat man running can go along with both those ideas. Ach, the suspense!

Maybe it's all about fat people. The letters might be made out of doughnut and then 060110 is the guy's weight in pounds. I can see some great games coming out of that. Get the fat guy through the door, squash as many people as possible by rolling down a hill, keep replenishing the buffet counter before the fat guy runs out of food... The possibilities are endless!
