JayBeetle Room EscapeBeetle Room Escape is yet another in a long series of escape games from Japanese developer(s), Escape School Games. These folks release a new escape game virtually every week. This week we feature two of them.

Although it's a rather drab looking room, the puzzle contained within it is pretty sweet and it shouldn't take you more than 10 or 15 minutes. The room descriptions are all in Japanese, but thankfully you won't need them. Keep your eyes open for clues of any kind that will lead you to the solution of the ultimate combination lock. With some pixel hunting expected in the genre, this game surely doesn't disappoint in that regard, though it won't frustrate you with impossible to find locations either. Just be sure to click all sides of every object and you'll be out in no time.

Walkthrough Guide

Ok, solved it.

Walkthrough:

Really?

First find everything: There's chopsticks in the plant to your left. Go right once. There's a golf club if you click the upper-right side of the bed, and there's something else on the floor to the left side of the bed. Ignore the calender for now. Go right once. there's a cup between the 6 and 1 statue. Go right once. There's a magazine up front and a tray with food below the table. That's it you've got everything.

use the chopsticks on the food (an escape-the-room game where you can eat?). now you see 47 and an arrow to the right. Use the long thingy you found near the bed on the cup to reveal another part of the code: 35 and an arrow upwards.

go to the calender and fit the magazine on it - you see the little holes? if you fit it right, the down arrow cut-out will go over the number 28, giving us yet another part of the code.
The last part of the code is the 6 and 1 statues we saw earlier. notice how the other stuff in that room (the triangular chair) create an arrow to the left. wonderful.

Now for the perfect ending. skip this part if you just want to finish the damn game. go to the door and click the right side plant. use the golf club on the green gooey blob. then go to the 1 statue, and click on its top part. use the golf-club-with-green-blob to get the disk. Now there should be a beetle where the blob used to be. good for you.

Ok, now it's time for the code. Here's what we've got:
28 Down (D)
35 Up (U)
47 Right (R)
61 Left (L)

Notice something? that's right, no number is repeted twice. Which allows us to sort them out by their right order:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.
Or, if we apply that to their directions we get:
L D U R U L R D,
which is the code to the door.

Well, what are you waiting for? get out already!

sorry for double post, but nevermind. it's the magic of the post! it's fine now... weird...

by far the easiest escape game i've played on here....got a normal ending message at the end?

Some thoughts on how to get to an additional ending (which I have not gotten to yet):

You can zoom in behind the left white chair, but there's nothing there (it seems).

There's the top of the "1" you can look at, but can't do anything with (thus far).

Both plants by the door look like they have something to uncover.

okay, so i got the normal ending, and seem to be partway to the hidden one. i've got

A golf club with something green on it from the plant, an empty cup with part of the code, an empty obento with part of the code, and a calendar+newspaper revealing part of the code. i can't seem to figure out what to do with the golf club and green thing though.

I managed to get the "perfect" ending first?

this was a little too easy; i just had to find 2 sets of the combination and then the other 2 sets where guessable. just curious to Jay why he picked #54 instead of the latest (55)? No problems or issues; only curious.

I have the newspaper thing also but can't read anything on it or make anything out.
Need to find the correct arrow position for number 2 and 8 but have no clue. Any help?

We'll give you one more step towards the perfect ending

Use the golf club, with the green goo on it, to fish around in the box (the "1" next to the "6"), and you receive a little disc. But what to do with that disc? And what does one do with the little scraped area on the plant pot?

I guess NinjaRaven will have to fill in the last steps (?please?)

Use the club on the thing on top of the one, use the newspaper on the calendar and line up the numbers

Jay... everytime you post something... you go and break their servers for a day(I'm trying the beetle one...)!.. You've got to appreciate the power you hold!

Reply

Ok... working again now...

and done... I think that's a record for me... Really easy once you get past the confusing fact that you think it would be easier if the text was translated... don't worry, it's not.

Normal ending was a 5 minute job, but finding a different ending is definitely harder. Good game.

Oh, post and ye shall find. Got the perfect ending.

I got the perfect end just by getting the disc and exiting the room. But I didn't find out how to scrape off the plant pot by the door

Reply

Ok, I've found

all the code numbers and directions: 28D, 35U, 47R, 61L. I've also got the white weird disk, and there's a beetle on the right-side plant where the goo used to be. I have no idea what to do now. I'm sorry, but this has been a horrible pixel hunt. not fun at the least.

I couldn't open the door, even after I'd solved the code, until

I actually clicked on the handle. Took me minutes of frustratedly clicking the red button to figure that one out...

Reply

okay done, but what was the point of the silver disk??

Reply

I was wondering that too, Corky. My first go I got the perfect ending, which I didn't expect to get because I had an item that I hadn't used.

Corky, Becky - in all these games (I'm sure there must be about 200 by now) there is a coin which, when collected, gives you the Perfect End. If you leave without it, you get the Normal End.

i couldn't help but notice, if you look at the:

velvet maroon pad the silver disk sat on (on top of the 1 statue) you can see what looks like the hairs on a beetles legs poking out. or is that just the fabric pattern???

i tried lifting up the pad to no avail

Well, I beat it. And now I'm trying another of their games
