Which?

TrickyThere are two circles in front of you: Circle A and Circle B. One of them is soft. One isn't. One of them is heavy. One isn't. One of them is painted. One isn't, and so forth. And the question you must answer, in this puzzle game by Yoshio Ishii, is simple: Which? It's very much a mouse driven game, and players will have to point, click, drag, drop, spin, launch, rub, and slide to tell the difference in all twenty levels. Figuring out the challenges will depend less on logic, and more on playful experimentation to determine what the developer had in mind. This can be occasionally frustrating, but all of the levels are quite clever, and have an impish streak of fourth-wall aware humor. In short, Which? is a quality five minutes of fun, that fans of Ishii's Hoshi Saga and spin-offs will find very enjoyable.

19/20. "Which living?" stumped me; I couldn't get either circle to react to anything.

Reply

I don't remember the number, but "Which light?" was my downfall. Still not sure what was supposed to happen there.

Same here, SonicLover. Not sure what is going on in that level. I was also stumped by the 2nd "Which is heavier?" level.

Reply

Living

One has a heartbeat seen on the cursor if you hold the mousebutton pressed on it.

Light

Pull the "roof" up, one will rise faster.

Reply

Second "Heavier?" level:

Oof... this thing is heavy... I can barely hold on to it... I think it's slipping out of my hands...

Reply

The only level I'm stumped on is the "Which ball?" one. What am I missing there?

Reply

Which ball:

Moving your hand around while clicking one of the circles has it turn sideways as if moving over the surface of a ball.

Which luck (The second one) is the only one I got wrong on my first try because it wouldn't react for some reason. Very neat little game.

A little bit short, but otherwise really fun! I did get stuck on Living, though. Thanks to Tobberian for help with that.

what about which ice?

Reply

I've gotten "which ice" wrong every time. Help!

Reply

For which ice:

drag each circle and one will continue to slide when you let it go

20/20 :). I only needed help with "Which Ice" and the second "Which Heavy". That was a nice little game. I hope he makes more!

Reply

"Which living" didn't work for me, either, even after knowing what it was supposed to do. The only one I actually got wrong was "old". I still don't understand the answer! But this was clever--might I say even Bonte-ish.

Reply

I didn't get Which Old either until just now.

It's not so matter of which is oldest as which has hung there for the longest. If you think about it the wall was completely white to begin with, then one circle was hung up. Some years went by, the wall became more brown, and the other circle was hung up. Then some more years went by to make the wall even more brown. So the bright wall shows the one that has hung there for the longest time.

Awesome! One of the best game concepts in a very long time. 7 stars!!

Reply

5 Stars! The idea may be simple and short, but unlike other 'experimentation' type games, there is logic in this, far more than some games that claim to use clear logic. Think about the circles as though they were in real life.
Every one of these I have partially seen in real life. And most have been completely seen.
I hope more games can be made with these simple concepts.

Just found this one thanks to More Which?, and both are really nice. Hope to see more too!

So simple and sweet. A true simple idea implemented so beautifully. 20/20 first time, but made me smile!
