author_david.gifTrapped Pt.3 The LabyrinthHere's what you need to know. My name is David Green; I'm a pianist by trade. But recently I've been caught up in a bizarre chain of events regarding myself and my wife, Becca, involving an enigmatic house—eighteen years in the past—which I just can't seem to escape from.

You know of me thanks to Rabbit Tell's Rodrigo Roesler. I've already told the first two parts of my story (otherwise known as the Trapped series) in Part 1: The White Rabbit and Part 2: The Dark. The trilogy is very plot-heavy, as most trilogies are, so trying to play the games in any order besides what the numbers suggests is ill-advised.

As Trapped Pt. 3: The Labyrinth begins, I have just killed a man—please don't ask about the details—and I can finally leave the house. Things have gotten even stranger now, however. The house has mysteriously rearranged itself, and the doors of the house take me to different rooms depending on what key I use to open them. Armed with only an enigmatic text called "The Map," a lighter, a bloody knife, an undead frog I recently resurrected Frankenstein-style, and the front door key, I have to solve the final mysteries of this house and escape once and for all.

Play all the games in the Trapped series:
Trapped: The White RabbitTrapped: The DarkTrapped: The Labyrinth

Rabbit Tell has ditched its trademark isometric style in favor of a more classic environment. Basic play is still the same, however: click on objects to check them out, use items on other items in slightly unorthodox ways (I bet you've never used a candy tin, a bag of crap, and a melted toy cannon to copy a key before), figure everything out and escape.

Analysis: Rodrigo made a brave move in switching away from his trademark isometric style. The switch seems to have been necessary in order to make a few puzzles flow correctly, and although fans of older adventure games will appreciate the new style, others may be confused or discouraged by the switch.

Some of the puzzles are also a bit non-intuitive. While I agree that I would probably never have thought of some of those solutions without peeking at a walkthrough, that sort of thing is perfectly normal for Rabbit Tell, so I won't dwell on it.

Overall, nothing feels stale, and The Labyrinth fits in almost perfectly with the rest of the series.

Now, what's this?! A clue... "On three separate occasions he searched for the truth, and every time he left with a souvenir of his adventures that he might have overlooked. Somehow they stayed with him from journey to journey; they were of no use by themselves, but when he took the three of them together, he found that there were much deeper secrets to be found..." What could that mean?

The book on the right contains another piece of the photo

Click on the sofa on the right for a small key

Another brief visit to the bedroom:

Use the Assassin key to return to the bedroom

Go back to the bedroom using the Assassin key

Give the photo to Becky, then talk to her and she'll eventually give you the Buffoon key

The Buffoon key - bathroom:

Use the Buffoon key to leave the room, you will first go underground where you can't do anything

Use the Buffoon key again and you will be in the bathroom

Use the knife on the window to knock the bees into the well

Click the toilet several times, then use the plastic bag to pick up the excrement (a first in casual gaming I think)

Click the broken mirror to get some mirror fragments

Bees, flies and honey:

Use the Buffoon key twice to return to the dark underground room

Click below the well to obtain some honey

Use the Dog key to go outside

Use the honey on the small hole to attract the flies

Use the cereal box on the flies to trap them

Go back to the dark room using the Buffoon key

Smear some honey on the edge of the deep hole near the door

Use the cereal box on the hole to leave the flies behind

Put the frog in the hole

Return to the dark underground room, retrieve the frog and examine it to get part of the drawing

The Glutton key:

Put the plastic bag in the first candy can

Put the broken key in the candy can to create a mold

Use the lighter on the cannon to melt it

Use the two candy cans together to create a copy of the Glutton key

Lots of notes:

Return to the kitchen with the Maid key

Click on the stove to get another note

Use the lighter on the note to reveal a hidden message

Return to the dark underground room, click on the circle of stones

Another note is hidden on the right of the stone circle, quite hard to see

Back outside to the wishing well (obviously)

A brick is now loose, which you can remove with the knife

The next note leads you back to the office (the King key)

Read the left-hand red book for a further clue - note the title of the book...

Use the Buffoon key to get back to the bathroom, and click on the "looking-glass" (the mirror)

Now use the Glutton key, and click on the cupboards on the left to find yet another note

Back outside to the rabbit statue, where you can now:

Use the knife on the plaque to reveal... another note!

Head back to the dog kennel, and click on the top right of the screen, to look up at the moon

Use the sticky hand to retrieve the note and the other part of the drawing

Moonlight:

Go back to the bottom of the well using the Buffoon key

Arrange the mirror fragments in the slots in the stones as per the drawing

Note that the fragments can be angled in three positions

Click on the spot indicated by the reflected moonlight to get the Servant key

The End

Use the Servant key and talk to Becca

Leave through the doors on the left - the end...

I don't know if other endings are possible, I found no use for the Sick Man key. I also found a Peasant key the first time I played it, which seemed identical to the Dog key

Extra Ending Walkthrough
(note: this assumes you've already beaten the game proper!)

As I turned the Front Door Key in the lock of the front door, I looked at three enigmatic coins that had remained in my pocket this whole time- the Rabbit Coin, found in my first visit to the house by axeing a part of the wall in the foyer- the Dark Coin, discovered by setting fire to a blank book in the dungeons down below- and the Labyrinth Coin, earned just recently by wishing for another coin at the well.

And now, I could leave. But just as I did, I heard Becca yell for me. When I returned, she was gone... but I found the Queen key on the cushion where she was sitting. Turning it in the nearest lock, I found myself in the master bedroom, where I picked up a red notebook. I read through it, and suddenly realized just what had happened that day. I had to make one more adjustment to the past in order to set the present right.

Returning to Becky's room, I asked her for her advice. She gave me three instructions, which I committed to memory.

1. Make this mess disappear. I returned to the backyard and tossed the Labyrinth Coin into the well, where it vanished.

2. Put the past into the light. Down beneath the well, I carefully placed the Dark Coin inside the circle of light.

3. Put the white rabbit back where it belongs. I took the Rabbit Coin back to the backyard and gave it to the rabbit statue.

With all that done, Becky's dad, Jack, appeared next to me, alive and well. I began to explain everything to him.

And that's what you need to know.

I've made some progress so far...

You often need to click on things several times to find items, even when there's no indication of anything being there

mark, have you find the candy can?

Reply

If you're stuck in the backyard the first time around:

cut the candy can with the knife to get the assassin key. That will let you go back into the bedroom.

If it's the second time in the backyard...Can't help b/c I'm stuck there now!

Reply

Mark,

Assuming you're stuck the first time you go into the backyard, have you:

found the candy can? If so, you need to:

examine it more closely, or do something to it. If you're still stuck:

use the knife on the candy can.

Reply

yes i have already found the 2 keys, but they do not open the door.

Reply

Wow that was pretty hard, I finally finished it, although I had some help from the trapped forums. A lot of help in some sections.

Reply

Has anyone gotten through the second time in the backyard? I can go between the two rooms, but am stuck with just that.

i've fixed (sorta) the glutton key, how much more is there?

Utterly stuck:

The last note I got was the one about breaking plates and stopping hunger and fear. Also I know I need some liquid to make the Glutton key from my mould. Any help?

Duuuuuuuuuude, i LOVE the upgrade to graphics

Truely awesome ^.^

Anyone found the lower-right drawing bit?

Reply

@Ogremindes:

its in a book in the king library room if we are talking about the same part

Reply

Well I've made some good progress...

I have the broken glutton key, and 3 pieces of the ripped picture

...but now I'm stuck.

In regards to the keys...

The doors always lock behind you and each key takes you to a different room

I've not done anything with...

the bees or the hole in the wall (the one with flies in it)

So I presume that's what I need to do next but can't see anything obvious.

Reply

Yeah, I'm stuck on the lower right drawing part (assuming it's in two halves)

Reply

How do i use the sick man key?

Reply

This is what i've found.

Use the alcohol on the lighter and burn the notes.

Reply

gmpilot, the picture is in four parts.

mark, I've not found any use for the sick man key yet.

Reply

Does anyone know

what liquid you use in the glutton key mould

?

Reply

Not the picture Tchrin, the drawing. I'm pretty far fast the picture part.

Reply

Ok, the second part of the drawing is found

by continuing to follow the clues in the writings.

Reply

Yeah same, just don't know what to do with the

flies

i put the mirror pieces on the stones but nothing happened
and i cant see what spot i'm supposed to click

also earlier

i used the coin on the well and wished for another coin
and it gave me a "the labyrinth coin" with is a red coin with the labyrinth picture on it
also havent found a use for that
the peasant and dog key did the same for me
and havent used the sick man key

Reply

The labyrinth coin is the third easter egg, like the rabbit coin and the dark coin in the first two games. haven't gotten far enough to know what to do with them yet though.

does anyone know if you need to use the coin in the well to get the note?

Alright, I'm stuck.

I used my coin on the wishing well, but I clicked the wrong wish, my coin didn't hit the bottom, and I can't find another one.

Also,

I can't find the broken glutton key.

Reply
wlangford December 1, 2008 9:12 AM

Ah, I see now the magic of posting!

Solved both of my problems by smacking the rabbit's key with the hammer! Broke the key, but thats okay!

Reply

More on the wishing well:

If you wish for getting the key from the statue, then fine. Otherwise you can choose any of the other wishes and you will then find:

a hammer in the kitchen, which you can use to smash the key out of the statue

I have no idea what the

labyrinth coin does.

Reply

if you chose to wish later it gives you different options the next time

you can get a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle (a nice little reference to a great game) and also a voucher for a free foot massage.
so along with the labyrinth coin, maybe none of them can really be used?
but i wonder does the last line in the book "the map" allude to a different ending?

Reply

so i got to the end of the game with the rabbit and dark coins from the first two games and the labyrinth coin you get

from wishing for another coin,

and

she said it wasn't like that when i tried to leave and i went back inside. i don't know what to do now, cause it just happened, but this probably has something to do with the multiple endings.

Reply

oh yeah, i also got

a screen before becca called me back in with the title "trapped 4: from mum to mud to mad to dad" and then when i went back inside she gave me the note.

thus far that's all i have to go on, and i still haven't found a use for the sick boy and peasant keys, although my theory is that the sick key does nothing because in the map it says that he can't do anything, just breathe, and the peasant key leads to the same place as the dog key because of the passage in the map about them being in the same place and being their only friends.

and if you don't have the first two coins, you can find the rabbit coin in trapped one by

using the axe on the wall in between the door to the dining room and the door to the kitchen

the dark coin in trapped two by

using the lighter on the blank book in the room with the scale model in the basement-ish area before you go back to the house area

and the labyrinth coin in this game, again, by

throwing the coin in the wishing well and asking for another coin. don't worry, you can get the note and broken key without wishing for them.

i'll post back if i find anything, or if you guys have any luck.

P.S. this is awesome, i love this series.

Reply

Yes, I would think the Peasant/Dog friendship mention would do something, since both keys seemed to lead identically...and who is the Sick Man? The Father? The Brother?

Reply

Wow, Trapped part 3!

There was Tipping point part 4 not long ago, now this - if they'd come out with a sequel to Bow Street Runners, it would be a perfect end to the year :D

Reply

ok, so i know i'm posting too much but this is my first time to post on jayisgames with somehting new to add, and it's so cool anyway, but basically, what i've found and what i'm gonna leave this at is

there's a whole full game hidden in here after "the end". if no one else gets around to it and i manage to beat it, i can post a walkthrough to it, although i'm not sure what the etiquette would be for posting a walkthrough for the secret ending. do i just make the whole thing a spoiler?

basically, the story, and this whole series, is incredible, and if you think this game is lacking as a finale, then you haven't seen everything yet.

Reply

*jacob*:

my theory is that the prince is the brother who died. and i'm not sure if there is much of a relationship or secret in the peasant dog relationship, i think the book, and the reason it's called the map, is just an abstract description of the rooms all the keys lead to.

Post away, Spark750! We're happy to have your assistance here at JIG. ^_^

I can say that...

finding everything in Trapped Part 3 will require you to have played through Trapped Parts 1 and 2 as well (some items are carried over from previous games).

Reply

well then i'll keep posting! and thanks jay, for the fantastic site and for hosting this game.

but then of course, now i'm stuck.

thus far:

i've gotten the instructions from becca on how to fix everything, and while i have a few ideas on how to do the last two, i'm completely lost as to how to "make the mess disapear"

and jay

is there something besides the coins you need to carry over to solve the end game puzzles? just making sure i'm not doomed to wander around this house the rest of the day without any hope of solving it

Reply

Spark750, I never got the option to ask for that, and I've played through the game several times! (With the past game bonuses, I might add.) I feel like I've been wasting hours searching for secrets when it turns out the game just wasn't playing ball.

Reply

Oh, great, I've been waiting for this!

Er, just a second - Didn't the other two games happen to be in a quite different graphic style?

Reply

Nevermind, i got through it.

first, JiGuest:

did you have all three coins? if so, you should get the message after you basically beat the game like you normally would, i.e. use the front door key on the door, go outside, and try to click the arrow to go further out again

Reply

second, i'm in the midst of writing a walkthrough for it right now, i'll post it up as soon as it's done.

Reply

can't figure out the broken key. made the mold but the walkthrough confused me. Any help?

Reply

I can't seem to find the

note in the kitchen (from the walkthrough). When I click the stove it keeps telling me "I don't need to boil anything."

Reply

everyone else, here's the walkthrough, although it's my first one so bear with me.

Alternate Ending walkthrough

Prerequisites:

To even get to the beginning of the alternate ending, you must first have obtained

the rabbit coin from trapped one, which can be found by

using the axe on the wall between the door to the dining room and the door to the kitchen, in the main room where the bar is. you must do this before you chop down the pear tree or else you'll lose it forever

when the game is over, click on the link for trapped 2 and begin a new game. You should still have the coin in your inventory at the beginning.

the dark coin from trapped two, which can be found by

using the lighter on the blank book in the room with all the books and the scale model at the beginning of the game, the one behind the first locked door. click the cover and you'll pick it up

when the game is over, click the link for trapped 3 and start a new game. you should have both the rabbit and the dark coin still in your inventory at the beginning

and

the labyrinth coin from trapped three, the game you're playing. you can get this by

throwing the coin in the wishing well and wishing for another coin. don't worry, the anything key to the game that you can get by wishing for something else you can also obtain through other means

Now play through the rest of the game till the very end. For help with this, consult the fine walkthrough already posted.

Now:

When you try to leave the house at the very end of the game, after talking to Becca and using the front door key on the front door, exiting the room, and then exiting the front steps, you should be interrupted shortly after the blackout by Becca yelling at you, followed by a new title screen for Trapped 4. Congrats! You made it to the real ending!

Endgame

Too bad you're not done yet.
First

go back to the servants quarters, the room you spoke to Becca in, and search the couch she was sitting on. You should get the Queen key

Second

Use the Queen key on any door and you'll end up in the Master Bedroom. Wondering where that one had gone off to, huh? Once there, search the bed and you should obtain a Red Journal. Use the Journal to read it.

Third

Now use the assassin key to return to the murder scene, and talk to child Becca again. You should get a new dialogue with her, wherein she tells you that things can be changed, but you must do three things first. If you don't get this, try presenting the journal to her first.

Here's a hint: each thing she says involves doing something with one of the secret coins. If you're still having trouble though, continue on

Fourth

First things first: Use the Dog or the Peasant key to return to the yard, go back to the well, and throw in the Labyrinth coin. This will "make the mess disappear"

Fifth

Use the buffoon key until you get to the dark room under the well. Then use the Dark coin on the circle of rocks (don't bother trying to zoom in on them first, you can't).

Finally,

Use the Dog key to return to the yard, go to the statue by the well, and use the rabbit key on it

You did it! Enjoy your new, more satisfying ending. You've earned it.

Reply

Thanks, Spark750. I'm in the extended game now, but stuck, so I could do with a hint. I've got the notebook but don't know where to go from there. It's probably obvious; it usually is.

Reply

Nice one, Spark750! I knew there must be a better ending hidden somewhere!

Reply

Step 3 of the extra ending isn't working for me... I've read it, but talk to her, present her the /item/, none of it's working to trigger the next step. Insult to injury considering the game wouldn't even let me ask for another coin at first. I'm going to have to restart, aren't I?

It is exceedingly difficult to get a free foot massage in this game.

Reply

Sorry JiGuest, i might have written down wrong, i'm replaying it right now to check it out.

Reply

Thanks, Spark750. It could just be my game. What with the massive server overload Rabbit Tell is clearly suffering, it could be something's busted, I don't know? What I do know is that my eyes are practically bleeding from playing this game all day.

Reply

frick,

For the broken key:

Use bag full of excrement on the first candy can

Use broken key on the first candy can

Use lighter on toy cannon - this should automatically melt it and fill the second candy can with melted plastic

Use one candy can on the other

Reply

Amy,

You might not have found one of the previous notes - the clue:

for the note in the stove is something to do with ashes. You have to find and read the notes in order for the next to appear.

Reply

Ugh, i did write it down wrong, i must've already triggered the event doing something else before talking to her. i still can't figure it out what i did, although i remember going around the rooms trying to go through the mum to mud to mad to dad sequence.

so that said, is it possible to go back and edit that walkthrough? or will ihave to re-submit it?

Reply

At present, I can edit it, but you can't.

Just repost and I'll delete the other one. :)

thanks, now let's see if i can figure out what i managed to solve without noticing it and i'll repost.

OMG WHY IS IT UGLY?!?!
I really liked the design of the first two and it seemed to be part of what made the games differant from all the other point and clicks out there....seems kind of strange to change it part way through a series when there was no problem with the original design.

This is an absolutely amazing series for casual gaming. I can't believe I've followed this game for so long, and it's captivated me for this time period (it's been years since the first one, right?). At first I missed the isometric graphics, but this is just as great. Please post secret ending, whoever has it :)!

Reply

Well, so far not really satisfied... First of all, I might be the only one who liked the "original" graphics more than the new one.

But that's just one thing. What bithers me much more is that there are items to pick up that are totally invisible, not a single pixel hint until you chance upon them. That's not good. Makes a blind clicking frenzy out of it.

Any leads on the secret ending yet? That is, leads on the internal process between getting /that item/ and talking to Becky. I've been trying a bunch of things, wandering around certain rooms in a certain order, but no joy.

Rodrigo just informed me he found a situation where you could effectively paint yourself into a corner. I've just uploaded files that fixes that problem.

If you started the game after the date/time of this comment (date/time is GMT-5:00 time zone), you should be ok. If you started before, then you might want to empty your browser cache and reload (to be sure you get the fixed files).

Can you inform us as to the nature of this problem, or rather, the situation in which you might paint yourself into this corner? I want to know if I'm past it or not.

[Edit: Sorry, I just don't have any more details than that. -Jay]

Great game so far, I have to clear my browsers cache though, I got stuck by the glitch posted above :(

anyway, I don't like the new graphics, not that it's ugly or anything, but I liked the first style better. and someone above mentioned to that the items are invisible, you just have to click around to find them, I thing that's a problem to.
Lastly I think this part has way to many items to pick up so it get's confusing. also I'd like some background music, but that could just be me being greedy.

Good game anyways! I loved the story, and puzzles. good job!

Amy,
i was "trapped" in the exactly same point, but i was missing a note... this should be your problem to.

Ok, lost my login and password for commenting here. :)

There are two ways in which you could get stuck in the game before the corrections, and these are major spoilers. I'll try to disguise them a little.

1. Be sure you've got the sticky hand before you put the flies in their proper place, or else you won't be able to find it anymore. The problem will only happen if you made a certain wish in the well.

2. There was one specific item that needed to be USED instead of EXAMINED. The result is apparently the same, but if you examined it there will be a part of the game that would remain locked. The item is the only one you can find in the room opened by the QUEEN key.

Both are corrected now, but just in case.

Reply

If anyone needs help I should be able to do so. I finished this game last night.

Reply

You can also get stuck via glitch (or at least I did):

when you put the flies in the cereal box. They seem to have vanished from mine (it's just a cereal box), so I can't put them in the hole with the honey!

Reply

@xi

you're suppose to use the flies in the buffoon room not the yard

at least that's how it sound to me when you say it

Reply

I kind of like the graphical shift, as you can look at the same areas from a different perspective, as well as not getting bored with the same big area three games in a row.

Whoops! Typo alert: When David gets to talk to Becca, if you try to use a coin on her, David will say, "I don't want to give him that"...

Also, if you don't want to look at spoilers for the first time through but want to find this game's easter egg, save early and use a couple of slots.

Reply

...Okay, after the real whole thing, I can't help but think that this game will only make sense or be more fun to people who've read their Jorge Luis Borges stories...

It's as if, to David Green, that time and space are just varying distances to him, and that he can access any of them with difficulty. Is he limited to just that house, or is he limiting himself to it until the murder mystery is solved? Also, just who is he, especially in relation to everyone there including Becca?

Now I feel like I have to play the whole thing from the beginning again to make more sense of it.

FINALLY finished, and what an ending. Extremely satisfying extension with the bonus items. It's all still very confusing, but many things are in a situation like this.

Reply

Thanks Pame and jimbog... I thought perhaps I'd done something out of order, so I went back and followed the walkthrough step-by-step, but

I'm still stuck. I've wandered around clicking everything and can't find anymore notes.

By the way, do the notes disappear for everyone after they read them, or is it just me?

Reply

I'm having the same problem as Xi

when i got to the buffoon room underneath the well, my box of cereal is just simply a box of cereal. the flies seemed to have disappeared, but they are no longer in the small hole out in the yard

queen-of-diamonds December 1, 2008 5:18 PM

Ok I need help... I'm stuck... problem is the coin:

I had the yellow coin to use in the well, when I clicked on the well to use it, the game gave me three wishes to choose from.

As I wanted to see what I would need the most I made no wish and chose the 'maybe I'll wish later' option (the last one).

Came back for my wish when I realised I had to wish for the rabbit's key and bam! the options had changed. Not to make the same mistake I wished for another coin, and now I'm stuck with a labyrinth key and can't have the Glutton's key because the yellow coin is gone.

I'm doomed, right? De I have to restart or is there any other way?

:/

PS: game is as awesome as the first two parts, but it's so damn dark in the yard, can't see a thing!!!

dawniepops December 1, 2008 6:06 PM

Xi, i also cannot get the flies to leave box! i have even restarted and done it in exactly the right order according to the walkthru but it wont work! if i examine box it just tells me that theres not much cereal left! and yes were in the baffoon room Jim not the yard! PLEASE HELP!:)

I have to concur with many others who have commented, I do not like the graphical change. The whole isometric view along with the story was what made the Trapped series so good and unique, especially because the isometric view was so well done.

The graphics still look good, but it doesn't feel the same. It looks many other room escape games now. And I didn't particularly like any of the endings. The first one was rather abrupt, but at least a happy ending. The extended one, well it leaves you hanging with a lot of questions.

So all in all, I am sad to see Trapped end like this. :(

Reply

I had a problem with a part of the game.

I used the cereal box on the flies after the honey was put in the hole in the yard, but when I used the honey on the hole in the buffoon room and used the flies on the hole, nothing happened.

Am I doing something wrong?

Reply

@ dawniepops

you need to use the cereal box on the buffoon room hole

@ C

you need to use the frog on the other buffoon room hole, so if you used the files on the dark room go to the white room and use the frog on that hole. and Vice-versa

I've been to this website alot but I've signed up for the website just a couple of days ago. This my first time playing this so if there are any hard parts in it, let me know.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

The first time I played I got so far, then thought I got stuck, so I restarted. The second time through I found a couple of differences:

When I went to the cupboard in the kitchen to get the cereal and the alcohol, I also got a hammer. When I went to the well to make a wish, I didn't see the wish for the key any more. If you choose to wish later, the options change, then if you choose to wish later they change back to the first set. The options are something like: "I wish I had an answer", "I wish I had a foot massage", "I wish I were in another game", "I wish I had a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle" (?!) and "I wish I had another coin". One time I chose the coin and got the "Labyrinth coin", another time I chose to be in another game and it asked me if I'd heard of some guy, I assume this is an advert of sorts. I haven't tried any of the other options yet.

When the wish for the key was not an option, I managed to get the key with the hammer. I'm wondering if the labyrinth coin has something to do with a special ending.

I get the same thing at the stove. So, what's that hint about ashes. I only have one note, I haven't back track to see if I'm missing any. But, I get the same "I don't want to burn... and I've click all around the stove. Anyone know what to do?????

Reply

Jim

When I put the frog in the other side of the hole, it said "go Froggy, run away from the light... well, he doesn't have a reason to."

Now what?

Reply

i'm having the same problem with the stove as well, i restarted when i was having troubles with the flies and that fixed it, but i really don't want to restart again, am i just doing something wrong with the stove?

Reply

Oh, no worries. If you wish for the "wrong" thing....

In the cabinet in the kitchen, along with the other things, you'll find a hammer.

Hey, guess what, rabbit? Stop, it's H-H-H-HAMMERTIME!

Reply

@ C

to get the frog to go across you have to put the flies in the opposite hole

Reply

Jim, I tried to

put the flies in the opposite hole

but it didn't work.

Reply

I am having trouble with the

mold of the glutton key. When I try to melt the other can with the (refilled!) lighter, he says that he doesn't want to burn it.

Reply

Yeah, I'm having the same glitch problem

The flies disappear between the yard and the dark room. When I try to use the cereal box on the hole I get the same messages as those who posted above.

I'm not sure I'm willing to replay the whole game.

Okay, I was one of the people who stayed up waiting on this game to be released the night it came out, and I've played it several times since. Needless to say I discovered Trapped 1 and 2 awhile before The Labyrinth had been created, and the series is a longtime favorite of mine.

I decided to play it again yesterday and discovered the

rabbit coin for the first time. I remember having seen a reference to that strange place on the wall in walkthroughs but I had never understood why. I had always played the game the same way and it had always gotten me to the ending. But this time I hit the wall with the axe and ended up with a little white coin. When I looked it up I found that it contributed to a secret ending!

After I found all three coins (the other two with hints), I played through the secret ending. The story suddenly made so much more sense. Here's my take on what happened.

Before David and Becca/Becky met, Becky was an imaginative child who liked to think of her family as members of a royal court. Her parents were the king and queen and her brother the prince. As for the coins/keys depicting various identities, I gathered that

King = Jack Rice, Becky's dad
Queen = Maureen Rice, Becky's mom
Sick man = Mike Rice, Becky's brother (although I was confused because I thought he was a little boy)
Maid = the Rice family must have hired a housekeeper
Glutton = the fat kid that bullied Becky
Dog = mr. Bubbles
Buffoon = Becky's imaginary friend
Assassin = David Green, Becky/Becca's future husband and Jack's killer
Servant = Probably a butler
Peasant = I was guessing a homeless person who hung around near the Rices' house and played with their dog.

Mike, Becky's brother, was deathly ill. He died and the family tried to readjust. Jack, the dad, reached out to Becky and bought her a dog, mr. Bubbles. Maureen, the mom, sat in her room all day writing madness in her journal.

On October 19, 1989, Maureen had gone so far over the edge that she decided to kill Becky. She blamed her somehow for Mike's death. She also could see a man behind a curtain (David) who knew what she planned to do and was supposedly waiting to kill her before she harmed her daughter. So she tricked Jack into stepping into the assassin's path, which is what led to him being killed. She then tried to smother Becky with a pillow, resulting in Becky's hospitalization. Jack was framed for the deed.

After Becca and David had been married for awhile, neither realizing they had actually met when he had killed her father, Becca's mother Maureen died. While going through her mother's things, Becca found some old drawings which induced dreams about her past. In the dreams, she realized that David had been her father's killer. She left him, unable to see him in the same light.

I am not sure I understand the strange dungeon beneath the rabbit statue and wishing well, but it seems to be some kind of time-traveling chamber and/or safe haven. The secret door in the master bedroom has a trap door that leads there, too. Jack had been hiding underground in one version of reality, which could explain why his diary was stationed in the secret red room. I also think David, at his current age, traveled back in time for all the events of the game series, thereby changing the past and with it Becca's memories.

I have a theory about the last entry in Jack's diary from the first Trapped game: "I did something terrible last night."

I think after the secret ending in The Labyrinth, when David explained to Jack what Maureen was going to do, Jack killed her.

The part that still confuses me is

how both David and the adult Becca managed to know what was happening. Supposedly the entire story took place inside Becca's head, but David in his waking life seemed to be aware of it. Maybe the end of the game was not actually meant to take place outside of the "dream" and time travel.

Anyway, great game! Still one of my favorites :).

I don't know if anyone will see this, but this game doesn't work for me. It loads alright but when I get to the first screen after the short prologue, I can't click anything. Not the stuff in the room, not my inventory, not even the menu. Maybe it's a compatibility issue with the browser (Firefox and Chrome) or Flash Player?

No big loss if it doesn't work, since I've played it before, but it would be nice to play it again, nonetheless.

Sorry you're having issues! I just tried with Firefox, and it works fine, but not in Chrome. You may want to make sure everything you have is updated (browser, flash, plugin, etc) and try disabling any extra plugins you have, as well as clear your cache, and see if that makes a difference.

Thank you for responding, Dora! I tried everything you suggested and even tried to play the game in Firefox's Safe Mode, but the only thing that worked was reverting to a previous version of Flash Player. It's not a permanent solution, but works for now. :)

I have a problem: After hitting "New Game" and getting through the intro, I can't click on anything in the bedroom. I can't click on the Main Menu button, the Load Game button, or the Save Game button.

I'm running the latest version of Firefox, if that helps...
