elleRaincoat EscapePlaying an escape-the-room game isn't all about the literal puzzling through four walls and a locked door—the figurative escape is just as meaningful. For that, we look to games that leave us feeling bright and sunny, with a tap in our toes and a tune on our lips. That's exactly what Fuwayara's Raincoat Escape does best with its oh-so-cute story, chimey music and gentle puzzles; it'll chase away those dark clouds in no time.

Like most escape games, play Raincoat Escape by clicking around the room, finding helpful clues and deciphering them into puzzle solutions. Objects you pick up are kept in the inventory sidebar where you can select to use or examine more closely with "about item". Although the cursor does change, the design is clean enough to eliminate pixel hunting on its own. Being on the easier side, Raincoat Escape makes a perfect short intermission—like a big ray of happy—in your day.

Raincoat Escape Walkthrough

  1. Pick up the HAMMER from the floor.

  2. Click the cushion on the side of the table to reveal an object:

    • a rainbow MEMO. Take it.

  3. Select the rainbow memo and put it on the puddle on the table:

    • A clue is revealed.

  4. Now click on the top cupboard and enter the correct color code.

  5. SOLUTION:

    BLUE - RED - GREEN

    Colorblind Instructions:

    3 clicks - 5 clicks - 1 click

  6. With the correct colors entered, click the button on the right to open the top cupboard and get:

    • the HANDLE

    • and a DUST CLOTH.

  7. Use the HANDLE to open the panel below the TV screen to get:

    • RAINBOOTS

    • and a KEY.

  8. Use the KEY to open the yellow hatch to get:

    • a STEPLADDER.

    • and a WOODEN BOARD, which is added to your hammer.

  9. Use the STEPLADDER to reach the panel above the door and get:

    • NAILS, which are added to your hammer/tools.

  10. Now you can repair the leak:

    • Place the STEPLADDER under the leak to reach it.

    • Use the TOOLS to repair the ceiling.

  11. With the leak repaired, you can use the DUST CLOTH to dry up the puddle on the table and read another clue:

  12. The four colors in each corner relate to the picture puzzle above the red cupboard.

  13. Examine the picture above the red cupboard to do another puzzle:

    • Combining the information in the picture with the clue on the table, click on the corners of the picture frame in the correct order.

    SOLUTION:

Click each corner in this order:

    Bottom Right--Top Right--Top Left--Bottom Left--Top Left

"Reset" the puzzle before starting over if you make a mistake.

  14. When the picture slides up, you can get:

    • MAGNIFYING GLASS.

    • and another HINT.

  15. With the HINT and MAGNIFYING GLASS, you have what you need to open the bottom cupboard:

    • The hint tells you to look at the corner of the blue boot and on the umbrella.

    • Zoom in on the picture above the red cupboard then use the magnifying glass to read its number.

    • Next, take a look at the umbrella in the green stand and use the magnifying glass to get another number.

    • As per the hint, multiply the two numbers together to get a 3-digit code.

    • SOLUTION:

      156

  16. Enter the 3-digit code into the bottom cupboard and press the button to open it. From inside the bottom cupboard:

    • get the RAINCOAT.

    • press the RED BUTTON.

  17. The TV is now on. Use the TV to get the door's EXIT CODE:

    • The pictoral directions tell you to subtract the "rain" from the "sun."

    • Select each region to view a picture the weather there.

      • Use the arrows to change regions.

      • Press the button to look at its weather forecast.

      • Step back and look at the code needed on the door:

        • Houses--Trees--Stars.

      • Use the information from the TV weather report to determine the 3-digit code needed on the door:

      • Counting all the houses in the "sun" regions and subtracting them from the houses in the "rain/umbrella" region = 2.

Doing the same for the trees and stars gives you 247.

  18. Based on the weather reports, you have a 3-digit code for the door (see spoiler above).

    • Examine the door and, when you enter the code into the door, click the grey button to unlock and open it.

    • Click on the open doorway to exit the game.

Have a happy day!

I don't know what to say about that, except Teeshi-e where are you, its been nearly a month!

Also Elle, just a small point, but the cursor does change to a hand.

[Thanks for catching that. :) ~elle]

This must not be my day. For a puzzle "on the easier side," I'm not making much headway!

I have:

the hammer & the rainbow card

and I'm stumped by all four of the immediate puzzles.

The jiggly frame -

trying to match the colored objects in the room to the four corners of the painting haven't worked so far

The top drawer -

I'm assuming it's tied to the rainbow card, but that doesn't seem to work

The bottom drawer -

I'm guessing the number will come up once I open one of the other puzzles

The door -

again, seems to need more than I have right now - I'm guessing the TV will be used

Any suggestions?
