10 Gnomes

Jay1o Gnomes is a brand new (released only moments ago) point-and-click game from Mateusz Skutnik. His latest creation, the first episode of what appears to be an upcoming series of games, is more of a hidden object game that puts you to task of finding 10 cartoon gnomes in 10 minutes by pointing and clicking your way through a series of black and white photographs of rooftops. Clicking on certain areas (the cursor will change indicating a hotspot) reveals an enlarged view, and the scene auto-pans with your mouse movement.

A simple yet enjoyable game from one of the Flash point-and-click masters.

Walkthrough Guide

(Please allow page to fully load for spoiler tags to be functional.)

I found them ALL!!!!!! Here you go, one walkthrough coming up:

  • On the left scene with the large building like a hotel, almost.

    • Click on the balcony and see the little hat

    • Click left of the graffiti and go left. Hello, number 2!

    • Look for a black T-shaped thing to the right of the balcony and click on it. Look left for gnome number 3.

    • Stay in that scene and click right to find gnome number 4 on the chimney.

  • Middle scene

    • Click on the window to the left. Zoom in on the sewing machine to find sleeping gnome number 5.

    • Click below the church steeple and then click on the circle that looks like a face to find number 6.

  • Right scene

    • Click on the tower and keep clicking until you reach the top. Click on the little ball to see falling gnome number 7.

    • Look for six pipes together on top of the buildings and click. Then click on the rightmost pipe and look inside to find gnome number 8 left in the dark.

    • Stay on the pipe screen and click to the far right. Find the line and click on it at the top. Go right, click on the big box and find number 9.

  • Bottom Scene (Below the Right scene, in between the trees)

    • Find the black window and click to go inside. Look to the plants on the right to find the last gnome.

And there you have it. All ten gnomes in under ten minutes.

Gnomes, left to right:

First notice that there are three main buildings or zoom areas that you can click on from the initial (widest) view.

Left Building, Gnomes 1-4.

Gnome 1:

Zoom in on the leftmost building and click to the left of what looks like graffiti reading "Ush." He's all the way to the left of this screen.

Gnome 2:

Again from the left building's view, click on the top room in the center of the building with the guardrail running around it. He's peeking at you from the window.
bonus:

there's a screen with no gnomes that you can view if you click the seagull at the upper right of this screen. A reference to another game?

Gnome 3:

Again, left building. Click the rightmost antenna, and look all the way to the left. Hi, Gnome!

Gnome 4:

From the Gnome 3 view, go all the way to the right and click beyond the corner of the building. The Fourth Gnome is waiting to meet you there.

Middle Building, Gnomes 5&6.

Gnome 5:

Zoom in on the middle building. A double window to the lower left is clickable.

So is the sewing machine in the lower left of this view.

And if you now click on the needle...

Gnome 6:

There is a steeple-looking part of the middle building, all the way on its right. Click on the decoration above the semicircular window, about halfway up.

Click on the same decoration in this view, and you'll meet your sixth gnomey buddy.

Right Building, Gnomes 7-9.

Gnome 7:

Zoom into the rightmost building. When your mouse cursor (in this view) is a little left of center, it will be over a break in the treeline. Through this is visible, on the roof, a series of five or six sticks. These are actually chimneys. Click them.

Click towards the top of the screen in the vicinity of the chimneys to see their tops.

Only the tips of the right three chimneys are of interest. Click any of them.

Now click inside the top of the rightmost chimney to find the most mysterious gnome of the game ;)

Gnome 8:

Take the first click from Gnome 7 (chimneys.)

Click alllll the way to the right of this view.

Click the top of the antenna you'll be over when your mouse is roughly in the middle of the screen.

Now head back over the the left, and take a closer look at the middle of this television array. Seventh Gnome.

Gnome 9:

From the view of the rightmost building, click the base of the clock tower.

Look higher... click the top of the tower.

Touch the ball about halfway up the spire... only to have Ninth Gnome bail on you before you can even say hi :(

The Elusive Tenth Gnome.

Even though Gnome 10 (little #$%#@) is in the rightmost building, you can't get to him from the view that lets you get Gnomes 7-9. Instead, from the main, widest view, look for a set of three perfectly square windows about halfway across that building. Click beneath them.

Your next target is the black, open window above your cursor when it is in the center of the screen.

He is, of course, behind the potted plants at the base of the stairs.

Thanks to Rease, who found the last gnome before I did. ;)

Found all 10 gnomes in about 3 minutes. You have to make sure to scroll all the way over left and right in all the screens.

Some of the clickable parts are near the edge

Reply

Nice game. Missing three gnomes...

Hardest one was the one in the sowing machine.

The one in the chimney was pretty hard, too.

Reply

Alright... I've found all but one of them.

Is there one with the

seagull? Or is that just a nod to Daymare Town?

Reply

Missing the last gnome?

Zoom all the way out, and look at the right building near the bottom. Click on the windows, and then the top window.

Reply

Found 8/10 gnomes my first try. The last two I spent close to 4 minutes looking for, lol.

Reply

I had to go back and refind some of the same ones. In order for all of them to be counted you have to get them to wave or blink or some other action.

Got them all on the first try. Some of them are hidden REALLY well.

Must be a good one - unfortunately not my type of game. Gave it a try, found 9 out of 10 but got rather bored by the end :(

Reply

Reply

found 8 of 10 with 16 seconds left. I stopped when the

gnome jumped off of the big church tower.

Poor thing. I wasn't expecting that.

Reply

The last one is on top of the smoke stacks

Reply

I really have a thing for gnomes - I can't get enough of them - but the site appears to be down! Is this just me, or is Mateusz getting flooded by people searching for gnomes?

Reply

I love this guys games. they have great atmosphere..

Reply

Yes! Got them all!
A gentle hint:

Looking on the most zoomed back page, There are FOUR in the leftmost area, TWO in the center, THREE on the upper right area, and ONE in the right bottom windows. (All require further clicking, but I hope this helps.

D'oh! Beat by minutes. This is what I get for being too formatting-happy ;)

Reply

So close! But not close enough.

Reply

Hooray! I found them all by myself!

Yesterday, after seeing how close The Great Kitchen Escape had come on the heels of Submachine 5(actually, the whole January clump in general), I quipped to myself, "Com' on, Jay, we need another point-and-click game! It's been a whole four days!" and I came back today to see this.
While I was only joking, it's nice to have my control over the universe confirmed. ;)

Also, I didn't expect another Skutnik.
Is he trying to turn them out as fast as we can play them or something? :D

ThemePark February 5, 2008 8:01 PM

Sari, good, now use your universal powers to get the new Gotmail game released before time. :D

Reply

oh noes! i got nine within five minutes, but couldn't find the last one to save my life! but then i found it right from the get-go the second time i tried, but then lost one of the other nine! XD i did finally beat it though. very nice game! i'm definitely looking forward to the rest of this series. i think there's a lot of fun things he could do with this concept.

by the way, did anyone else...

...get red-herring'd by the close-up with the bird in it? i think i spent too much time looking there, but all for naught.

Reply

Viva Skutnik! cute Gnomes + Creepy atmosphere + home town rooftop view = fun play!

Reply

Gyah 9/10 =='
Another nice game by Mr. Skutnik! But why the creepy music? :/

Reply

Nice game! I had fun doing the bird sidequest in Daymare Town, and I'm glad that this type of gameplay got its own game now.

Thanks for the lightning-fast news delivery, Jay! :-)

Reply

I got pretty stuck on the scene with the bird while I was looking for the last one too. :P Turns out the one I was missing was #4 on the walkthrough.

Reply

Gdańsk Wrzeszcz? Which one, the PKP station or the SKM stop?

Reply

Ah, not only did Mr. Skutnik get to make that photography game he thought of doing in Submachine 3, but we also get to snoop around his local rooftops. It's probably his slightly-creepy-yet-pleasant style that's making Poland look surprisingly dreary, though.

Reply

Pixel hunt: the game.

But seriously, this is actually a pretty nice idea how to use those boring panorama pictures it took ages to shoot but afterwards you don't know what to do with them. Also, as an actual game this somehow works, although it's not the game type I would play very often.

What a great idea! I loved this game! There was only one thing missing though...mocking laughter from the gnomes when I found the same one for the hundreth time. I was really good at finding a couple of the gnomes multiple times...

Reply

Really fun to play this game, I liked it :)
Hehe, and I've found some gnomes hundred times aswell, lol.

Reply

Hey, Jay, can you edit my walkthrough to say for gnome number three...

Look for a black T-shaped thing to the right of the balcony and click on it. Look left for gnome number 3.

[Edit: Done! :) -Jay]

Reply

Cute Gnomes! I found seven my first time and all of them my second time.

Reply

Gee , how to do...

Reply

Im trying to put in a typekey account..
when i comment , it puts the casual game play beside my name instead of a key..Im signed in ... Does this mean im NOT signed in??

Reply

I don't get it. I must be doing something really wrong.

What do you mean by "click left" and "click right"?? Can you pan the pictures left or right? How come I'm never seeing this "graffiti" people mention? The first time I played this the screen got stuck and wouldn't move all the way back out - I had to reload the damn thing.

My flash is updated... maybe Mateusz Skutnik just hates me.

Somebody tell me this is NOT PIXEL HUNTING!

Reply

Unfortunately, this game does not work for me. It doesn't auto-pan. Must I use IE?

Gnome in the steeple...

commited SUICIDE!?!?!

Reply

LOL the gnome did jump off the steeple. This game is excellent and has a bit of humor in it.

Reply

Woot! First try: Found all 10 gnomes in under 10 minutes, score of 10,251.

Now to play those other 10 gnomes games.

This was pretty good, but not quite perfect. It was just a tiny bit boring, although my favorite part was the suicidal gnome. I'll assume the other 10gnomes games are even better...

Reply

Thanks a lot I found them all but one was missing thanks for sharing.
