krangGAMES' clever puzzle series is back for more! After love got a little bitey in I Saw Her Standing There and the seemingly doomed romance of I Saw Her Too, With Lasers, infatuation goes global in I Saw Her Across the World. You, well... sorry to break it to you, but you're a zombie... but maybe it's not so bad since the one you love is a zombie too. Using [WASD] and the [arrow] keys to move and jump, you're going on an adventure with your rotting beloved, trying to catch up to them as you chase them through each level. If you get stuck, you can hold down [H] to display a hint for your current stage. Unlike its predecessor, Across the World is a platformer, but also an adventure of sorts too, as you journey to different locations and the narrative unfolds. What's nice is at the start of the game, you're given the opportunity to customize how your character displays (which comes down to a choice of colour), but more importantly for some, the pronouns used to describe you and the person you love... there are typical male and female options, but there's also the ability to manually type in what you prefer if you want something other than the third "they/their/theirs" choice. It may seem minor to some of you, but to others, that's a huge deal and a welcome bit of inclusion not often seen in games. krangGAMES? Four for you, krangGAMES! You go krangGAMES!
I Saw Her Across the World is a bit of a surprise after the complex, clicky puzzles of I Saw Her Too, With Lasers. The return to basic platforming and puzzles makes the gameplay a bit simpler in places, but overall much smoother to handle without having to scramble to click icons within narrow winds of time. Though the movement is a little slow, which can make the portions of the game where you have to dodge quick enemies challenging, the sheer variety of environments and obstacles on display draws you forward, eager to explore what comes next. There's a sense of whimsy here missing from the other games, and the touches of humour go well with the general sweetness to the theme. Some players may lament the focus on jumping and timing here compared to the puzzles of the previous games, and some levels are fiddly enough that the one-hit KO and emphasis on reflexes can feel at odds with the light-hearted, sweet tone of the game. Despite that, however, I Saw Her Across the World is unexpectedly charming and offers a few surprises and gameplay twists as the game goes on that makes it well worth playing. There are a few different endings, unlockable cheats, and a whole lot of weird cuteness you typically don't expect from a game about brain-eating monsters, making this a fun, engaging little gem, where the option for the sort of diversity rarely seen in games is just the icing on the cake.
Play I Saw Her Across the World
Thanks to Chris for sending this one in!
The ability to not be able to quit a level is SUPER annoying.
Avoid the mountains unless you've got someone with you.
I reached the labs and gave upp on about the 4th or 5th screen the one were you had to go around a maze of red lasers and 2 bird things.
Couldn't get past the damn birds.
If you hit P and choose "quit to main menu", you will be outside on the world map the next time you continue your game. :)
For the curious, this game earned its rating of Y for a single use of the word "hell" (specifically "hella") per our ratings guidelines. :)
The game had it's challenging moments. I wanted to try to kill every enemy you can land on, and infect every human -- but there's a couple humans with guns that are really hard to infect, because they shoot right before you can hit them, no matter what.
Regardless, it's a pretty cute (yet simple) game. Definitely a great conclusion to the series. I would like to see a prequel, if possible, but least this one had a pretty great storyline. The best part was one of the endings.
When you get to the end and choose between getting married, going to the graveyard, or adopting a puppy, there's really not a lot of difference. Just the ending message.
If you get married:
we decided it was time to tie the knot.
the preacher-dude pronounced us zombie and zombie.
regina's a pretty progressive city for zombie love.
we killed and ate every last human we can find.
the end.
If you go to the graveyard:
being zombies, we went to go chill in the graveyard.
and we cooked pancakes, to summon more zombies.
we were all zombie friends, and a bunch of us fell in love.
(zombies are totally polyamorous, btw.)
the end.
If you adopt a puppy:
we decided we didn't want to get married.
so we just adopted a puppy instead.
she was warm and fuzzy and super adorbs.
we ate the puppy's brain because we're zombies.
the end.
Beating it on normal unlocks a few cheats, namely Big Head Mode, Super Speed, Pancake Rain (just adds falling pancakes as an animation), Purple Nightmare (haven't tested it yet), Xtreme Mode, and BN the SG (also haven't tested).
Beating it on Xtreme Mode will unlock more cheats. I haven't succeeded at this yet, so I can't say what cheats it unlocks.
Definitely worth playing if you liked the other games in the series. I suggest playing all of them to those who haven't yet.
I think it's impossible to beat the city in extreme mode if you have both zombies working together because the other one gets killed too easy.
Fun tip:
Boogy down in Vancouver!
@Dora
Not for the polyamorous graveyard? :-O
There's nothing PG about polyamory. :)
So, does anyone know how to remove the circle in the super secret area?
The hint said to look for another big circle.
I thought maybe they would have something at the lab because of the big circle on the building, but I couldn't find anything. :(
Great game BTW :)
anyone found all the hearts? does it open the secret tunnel?
I was able to destroy the tunnel circle
when I had a big head. I just pushed against it and it dissolved. I also had the other zombie with me. i don't know what all made it work. I also went to the lab because it had a circular thing but I don't remember checking if that had any effect on the circle in the tunnel. Maybe it'll work without the big head. I dunno. I also had pancake rain mode on.
I tested it out and here's how to get through the super secret area:
turn on big head mode and press against the circle until it goes away.
Thanks, shipoopie! :)
I haven't found all the hearts yet. Basically,
you look in parts of the levels were there doesn't seem to be anything. There are two in the lab, one at the beach, one in the indie house, one next to the granny's house, one in the city, and one in the mountains.
Those are what I have found so far.
This is by no means a complete text-through: I gave up trying to play humans w/ guns mode (yes, I managed to beat Xtreme mode, which is much easier than the mode I'm stuck on. I am also fairly certain there are more hearts around, but I do not know where. Feel free to update as you guys wish, I've given up.
For reference: Single brackets () denote locations. Double brackets (()) denote personal comments. The three main levels of this game can be played in any order, and text will change from him/her/(whatever pronoun you used) accordingly. I played in the order of the forest, the city, the lab, so you will find the forest in act 1 whereas the other two are in act 2.
((Title))
i saw her standing there
i saw her across the world
((him))
you are a zombie
((her))
she is a zombie too
act 1
we are going on an adventure
((Starting at Granny's House))
i saw here standing there,
playing a game of tag with me.
((heart))
she was always hard to catch.
she knows i love this game.
she ran over some funky terrain.
i knew i could always hold H for a hint.
we were both kinda sorta thrill-seekers.
the places we went could be dangerous.
but we were best friends, partners, and lovers.
i'd follow her across the world.
i love playing tag. i love exploring.
(granny's house)
i guess i'm going back this way now?
there's nothing else over here, y'know.
((at the house))
me and my lover already ate the grandma
that used to live in this cabin. yum.
(monument)
our game of tag turned into hide-and-seek.
there was something on top of this hill.
this must've been built a long time ago.
before the zompocalypse business went down.
there's a big wide world out there, right now.
statues are great, but it's time to play games!
((second visit))
i already climbed this hill,
but i went for another look anyhow.
that monument was just so glorious,
i had to visit it again. ((This monument is the credits, for non-players))
there's a big wide world out there, right now.
statues are great, but it's time to play games!
(the forest)
i saw her in a bright green forest.
the forest was full of wild animals.
it's a wild world that we live in.
but we're committed to our game.
there were lots of dangerous animals.
our games of tag got pretty intense.
they didn't seem to mind her
while she was waiting up for me.
she found the most exciting places to go.
together we discovered and explored.
there were lots of creatures in the world.
some of them were big gross bugs.
the cave was a little spooky.
our game of tag turned a bit into spelunky.
this cavern was big.
also it smelled funny.
((heart))
the fresh air felt great.
we even got to go for a swim.
i found her on an island.
((tag))
act 2
it's a magical world. let's go exploring!
he caught me. now I'm it.
(the lumpicle)
i swung by the lumpicle.
there was nobody to meet me there.
(the mountains)
he wasn't there. the mountain had no zombies.
i couldn't climb a mountain without him
((empty line))
standing by my side.
(wholesome house)
a delicious smelling abandoned house.
i'll bet a nice, wholesome family lived here.
((click picture: link to another game))
(the city)
i found him in a city that still had humans.
humans are zombies crossed with wild animals.
this city is one of the last places around
where humans actually hang out.
humans are pretty dangerous.
sometimes they would find a gun.
not just humans lived in the city.
there were also these weird birdfish things.
our game of hide and seek knew no bounds.
our love was stronger than our fear.
((heart))
the city was chock full of wild stuff.
the wilder the better, though. it was fun.
i loved jumping. he loved jumping
naturally we went places with lots of jumping.
even though they could build this hella big city,
humans are still pretty stupid.
how did they even
get up there?
i think this is one of those fabled "apartments".
legend says they're just full of delicious humans.
but even in a big old city, you can still find
quiet little places to hide with your lover.
i found him on a building.
((tag))
one last round of love-tag to go.
(super secret)
there was a big circle
in the middle of this tunnel.
((use big head mode))
(indiehouse)
((heart))
((green))
this human
tastes like cereal
((dark green))
this human tastes
like japanese food
((pink))
this human
tastes like italian food
((orange))
this human
tastes like nigiri
((blue))
this human
tastes like thai food
(beach)
this pier is a peaceful place.
there's nothing here but the sound of the ocean.
((heart))
(the lab)
i saw her in a laser-filled lab.
this place seemed familiar.
we'd definitely been here before.
red lasers are stupid and burn everything up.
but purple teleportation lasers were skookum.
they got us where we needed to go.
i don't remember these robots, though.
zombies. mad scientists. robots.
what's next, ninjas?
other zombies don't "get" us and our love.
we're not like other zombies. we're different.
((heart))
this lab must've been abandoned awhile back.
it's full of weird bugs and animals and stuff.
bugs and animals didn't scare us.
i was brave, and so was she. we were awesome.
purple teleporters worked like magic.
but you have to watch where they spit you out.
i wonder what this lab was for, before zombies.
was it always just for zombies? i don't remember.
i don't remember the what the world was like
before the zompocalypse. was there a "before"?
i could only remember one thing:
i've always loved her, zombie or not. always.
i found her in a laboratory.
((tag))
((At the lumpicle))
finally, our game of love-tag was all done.
so we used the f key to work together.
act 3
all good things
nothing can stop us when we're together.
(the mountains)
there's only one thing left to for us to do.
and we're going to do it together.
((empty space))
i saw her on a mountain.
we were gonna conquer the mountain together.
no more tag. just us.
our adventure was long and zany and fun.
but we knew it was coming to an end.
we've been at this for a long time.
i tried to remember things from our journey.
little memories floated by. a mad scientist.
green zombies. something about cages.
((heart))
then suddenly i remembered some stuff
from before the zompocalypse was even a thing.
((blank space))
from before i saw her standing there.
we've always been in love.
and we totally used to own a puppy.
i saw her standing there.
as we began our next adventure.
(regina)
we finally arrived at the end of our journey.
the vibrant, zombie-friendly metropolis of regina.
one last steop before our new adventure.
together, we gotta choose what we want to do.
((get married))
we decided it was time to tie the knot.
the preacher-dude pronounced us zombie and zombie.
regina's a pretty progressive city for zombie love.
we killed and ate every last human we can find.
((hit up the graveyard))
being zombies, we went to go chill in the graveyard.
and we cooked pancakes, to summon more zombies.
we were all zombie friends, and a bunch of us fell in love.
(zombies are totally polyamorous, btw)
((adopt a puppy))
we decided we didn't want to get married.
so we just adopted a puppy instead.
she was warm and fuzzy and super adorbs.
we ate the puppy's brain because we're zombies.
((Extras))
(vancouver)
welcome to vancouver!
type "dance" to dance.
((WorldMap_NoClip))

((happy face with trees))
Cute game, but I started to get frustrated with
the bugs and spiky things in the forest
Something tells me if I can't even handle that, I won't enjoy the rest of the game lol. Maybe there should be an "inept" mode just for me, where the first time you run into a hazard does not kill you. I mean after all, aren't zombies a little harder to kill?
I was also able to glitch through the super secret area by holding left and up when I exited The Lumpicle. Try it out.
I was exploring granny's house
There are two hearts. One is in the first screen, right next to grandma's house. The second heart was in the fourth screen were you get the message
we were both kinda sorta thrill-seekers.
the places we went could be dangerous.
@saranpistilli
about granny exploration
The fourth screen going right is also the second screen going left when the message says "i guess i'm going back this way now? there's nothing else over here, y'know."
@togden
But then you're stuck...
in Vancouver!
:-O
@shipoopie
try to go to somewhere you don't need to go.(in the fourth screen of granny house
A cute little adventure. While the game can get repetitive and some enemies are frustrating, the crisp control scheme and on-screen text keep the game enjoyable throughout.
7/10
Such a cute game, but the additional unlocked modes had their frustrating moments. I love KrangGames for their inclusivity; playing the game made me squee so much~
Is it possible to finish the Just Ridiculous difficulty without using the Super Speed cheat?
Due to so many guns and the way they shot at you, using super speed was the only way to convert them before they could kill me. I also turned off Xtreme mode when I started Just Ridiculous even though the extra monsters occasionally opened up some shortcuts on vanilla Xtreme.
I love this game, it's such a cute, unique love story. I beat all the unlocked modes and found the hearts, so if anyone was wondering what you get...
Beat it to unlock:
Big Head Mode
Super Speed
Pancake Rain (pancakes fall down the screen all the time)
Purple Nightmare (turns the ground purple)
Xtreme mode (tons of enemies)
BN the SG (unlocks the mad scientist character model)
Beat Xtreme mode for:
WorldMap_NoClip (Lets you walk through things on the world map, which also lets you find a thank you message and a picture of the creator)
Human Apocalypse (They've been breeding!)
Jumpin' Enemies
Just Ridiculous (Adds a bunch of humans with guns to each level)
Achtung (No idea what this does...)
And beat Just Ridiculous mode to get:
Infinijump
Moon Gravity
X-Ray Vision (shows all the contact boxes)
and God Mode
And getting all the hearts is my favorite
A cave opens up around the middle of the map, and when you go inside it's the start of the original Legend of Zelda game. An old man gives you a sword, which your zombies each have in levels. Now you can kill enemies just by walking into them.
For extra fun, try my Schizophrenic Mode:
-Make both characters the same color
-Set the pronouns to I, I'm, my, and me
(Note: you will get some funny grammar, like "I are a zombie", but hey, isn't that how zombies usually talk?)
I recommend the
scientist character (BN the SG, unlocked by beating Normal Mode)
You can play tag with yourself (and be a massive narcissist)!
Oh, if you find that difficult, you're going to LOVE Xtreme Mode (especially the mountain)
I love this game! It is so freakin' adorable. I love that you can customize the gender pronouns. I also love that you can choose from three endings and live your life with your zombie partner any way you choose, and all options are presented as equally valid. It's just a small thing, but I also like that you have to choose with BOTH zombies, rather than having just one say "Hey let's get married!" It has to be something they agree on, and that's not something you see a lot. ^-^
My only problem with the game is that the challenge modes (Xtreme and Just Ridiculous) tend to cause a lot of lag. I tried setting it to low quality, but the lag didn't go away in the slightest. It's not just my computer, either. I played on my old one and on a computer I just bought yesterday and it has the same problem. (I managed to beat both such modes, though. :P I deserve a medal. But I guess extra cheats are nice, too.)
Some help for the hearts locations would be nice. Until now, I found one in each map except: the Granny'house (2 hearts); 0 in Vancouver, super secret, Regina, lumpicle, monument and wholesome family. If somebody knows what I missed.
there are 10 hearts in the game.once you collect them all, there will be a text telling you.
2 in grannys house
1 in forest
2 in city
2 in lab
1 in mountain
1 in beach
1 in indiehouse
tell me if you want to know the place.
Where is the second one in the city? The only one I found was by a human with a gun on the same screen with the birdfish
The three commands in Vancouver are "dance" "hustle" and "boogy"
It's possible, but the mode after is really, really tough.
Update
