DoraArcuz 2Fresh from your last adventure of hacky-slashy, save-the-day-y goodness, you discover that a hero's work is never done... at least not when it comes to villagers who think living on top of a dungeon barely containing a very ancient and very vengeful demon lord is super keen! Funnaut takes you on another action RPG fantasy adventure with Arcuz 2: Dungeons, in which you'll descend beneath the earth to put a stop to the aforementioned demon lord and the greedy man who promised to release him in exchange for immortality. Because pacts with demons always work out so well for all involved.

Arcuz 2 is played by moving around with the [arrow] or [WASD] keys, interaction with the [spacebar], and attacking and jumping with [J] and [K]. You can sort of think of it as a tinier, more adorable Diablo-esque clone; you'll perform tasks for the villagers that mainly consist of killing X number of Y, engage in real-time combat, and level up to get stronger and obtain skill points to spend on new attacks and abilities in the skill tree. A handy in-game tutorial guides you through the basics at the beginning, but chances are you can handle "talk to everyone, stab everything". Just remember to allocate skill and attribute points as you level up, save from the menu from time to time, keep an eye out for treasure to enchant, and you'll be fine. Y'know, except for that whole "ancient demon hellbent on destruction and Armageddon" deal.

If you played the original Arcuz, chances are Arcuz 2 is going to look and feel extremely similar. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, since if the game's signature old-school console style and sprightly combat appealed to you the chance to do even more of it is probably a welcome way to spend an afternoon or two. The game still looks great despite its somewhat clunky UI, with its detailed sprites and environments, and the heavily combat-based gameplay provides enough new skills and weapons for attack-fiends to really get sucked into, while still remaining accessible to newcomers. The story isn't particularly compelling, so players who demand a more plot-heavy, non-grindy, heartstring-tugging narrative RPG might be turned off, while the sense of deja-vu might make it hard for even fans of the original to get into the sequel at first. But while Arcuz 2: Dungeons doesn't break the mold, it does show that a lack of innovation doesn't keep a game from being fun if it also provides quality in spades. If you're the sort of player who just wants an entertaining action-focused game and don't mind some repetition and level grinding, then you'll definitely want to check this one out.

not working for me. I think it's getting snagged on the advert.

I'm stuck on the second boss. The bosses are way too hard.

The bosses gain in level as your character levels. Grinding out levels to fight the bosses doesn't help much.

Reply

This game has the same problem as the first. It looks really promising, but there is too much grinding. I go from easily slaughtering my way through a level, to getting insta-killed on the next.Hence, I am forced to grind on the old level, despite the enemies there giving a pathetic XP return at this point. The leads to a lot of slow, pointless hack and slash on weak enemies, which leads to me quitting.

Grinding is not a desirable game mechanic. Match your leveling progression and the progression of enemies to eliminate grinding, don't space them out.

The best part about this game is how you'd sometimes find a super rare monster and it'd run to an exit, and you'd bounce off and out of the room when you hit it! Combined with the high praise it's garnered from other commenters, this one is a winner for sure.

This is just another plug and play. The developers put more into how it looks than how it plays. Each level of enemies has their stats multiplied by X, given a palette swap, and become even less interesting. Did the developer even bother playing this game after they made it?

The last Arcuz was a grindfest more concerned with getting you to buy tokens with real cash to ease the pain of advancement. No thank you, not again!

Agree with the 2 persons above me. Way too buggy and the difficulty curve is ridiculous. Seemed like a GREAT game at first but then these things start to ruin the game.

I was enjoying the game, but after way too many hours of grinding, I was about the confront the second boss and the 'door' to his room wouldn't open. Item to open it disappeared from inventory. Fatal bug, unable to do anything except start over.

can't for the life of me beat the minotaur once he starts with the fireballs. I'm not sure why you'd want the first boss to be that hard. It's killed the fun for me.

Reply

I agree with the other posters above.
Easy to get started but then you have to grind and grind through the next area, where you don't have the power to take everyone on.

Not sure I can try much more on this one.

Reply

hehehe. the 1st boss is hard...i wonder how hard the other bosses will be....the armor bar on this game sucks!!!! you spend several minutes trying break the critters' armor only to have a few seconds to hit 'em real hard...sucks!!!!

Reply

I'm actually enjoying it - the mindless grind is a fine distraction during the day that I have. What IS annoying to me is that in spite of saving it, if the window closes (not the browser) then I lose the game entirely. What am I doing wrong?

How can I go through D7? I defeated the Golden Dualhead Ogre and the gold bat and I don't really know what to do next to get through. What should I do next?

Reply

Is there a specific way to kill the Golden Dualhead Ogre? The first time I saw him I got killed almost instantly. I thought "no problem, I'll just come back after leveling up" so I went ahead and moved on to deeper dungeons, down to D7. At that point I came back to the ogre and got obliterated. So I thought "screw that" and instead I cheated. Leveled up to level 52, selected a bunch of abilities, bumped my skills, bought better equipment and back to the ogre, ez mode! OBLITERATED AGAIN. So I thought, "hmm, ok, more cheating" and leveled up to 120 and bought 500,000 worth of equipment. Got back to the ogre... and I almost killed him despite dealing criticial in the multi-million damage range.

At this point I could go back to it with my cheated hero and if I apply myself I should be able to do it but... what's the point? That'd the first boss and it's almost impossible to kill him, do I really want to see who's the second boss?

What am I missing here?

Wow... Max level is 120 O: And i don't what to do, i passed the omen quest. On D7 got teleported back to village went back to D7 and a red circle is blocking me :/

When you get to D7 goto inventory you'll see a Orb called. Fire Yooseki goto D7 and hit space bar by the red circle on D7 to get past to the Mintotaur Boss.

It's unfortunate that such a great game has been ruined by lack of balance.

It's virtually impossible to get past the minotaur boss; I spent 20 minutes withing down its health to 1/3, and from there it entered rage mode and became impossible to guard against (every smash of his axe released bolts of fire as well, and this made it near impossible to stay alive)

Until the developer steps up to fix the game, I don't think I will be playing it for awhile. I urge all who are playing it on armorgames to leave feedback and downrate the game until the developer does so.

Reply

The learning curve on this game is very steep. I have been grinding for over 15 hours now. I am up to level 21, but I still have no idea what to do. The developer's help page has no meaningful data, and other game sites have nothing to say. Maybe I sound bitter, but man! I should at least have some idea of whats happening by now! Maybe Funnaut will read the comments on the JIG site (and others) and put out some type of player's manual.

Takes concentration and training. It gets hard at first, then after awhile it'll get easier. The game is not impossible. Just alittle more challenging.

Reply

i have won the game its very easy game like taking candy from a child

Reply

Jakob, the game itself is easy. The mindless grinding is kind of amusing and annoying at the same time, I wish there was a "Execution" move.
So, back to Dual Headed Giant, every time you LVL, he LVL-s. Just jump on his head when he attacks and attack.

Finished the game, got LVL 120, but still can't kill Balor (Last Boss) second time, since he's 125 after you kill him once, and with that, you'll have to fight for 2 days non-stop to kill him.

Still have no idea about the "Lore Keeper".
Heard that it gives free stuff and it's a tree in the village. Tried to find it but nothing.
Any ideas?

crazybloo3 October 9, 2011 3:33 PM

the only thing you need for the bosses are charge attack lvl 1 and 2 and blade storm. with this I killed the skeleton king in less than a minute. for the slime you need to charge attack him then blade storm him.

for the lore keeper thing you get a free small mana potion in a tree near paul and a healing potion in the well.

there is a bug with the second boss that I found. when the eye goes crazy and spams his lasers and giant laser at the same time, his giant laser doesn't stop when I break his armor. this caused me to die 2 times by him.

Reply

@Razerus, about the Lore Keeper achievement:

There are two points in the village, that give free items - you recognize them when the message "press Spacebar" appears.

One is the well in the center of the village - it gives health potions.
The second is a first tree on the left from the item-keeping guy.

Once you use them both, you get the achievement.

Hope I was helpful.

So i have been playing through and have found these things called trial tablets... it says that "the stone and i open the way" so i am thinking it is a blessing stone or one of those... anyone have an idea on what they are or what they can do?

Reply

The trial stones: you combine them with a stone of blessing, and that makes a trial gate. gowing into it takes you to a very, very hard place, harder or eaiser depending on the level of stone. it says you need to be a true hero to enter, i got no clue about that.

Found an Angelic Serum thingee... can't remember what the exact name was. Anyway, a potion that allows you to come back to life after dying. Anyone know how to craft those?

For those who are ranting about how hard is the game is...
get the fire elemental skill.the skill increases your dps tremedousl.after you max it,get bladestorm ASAP.usually ensure a kill even for boss

Reply

Ok, first of all, the Angelic Serum Recipe posted by JIGuest "the angelic serum: combine small water, wind, and earth crystal with blessing stone" is not working for me. Can anyone please confirm?

Secondly, would that be the same thing you have to craft in order to finish the Elf Poem Quest? The mentions of "the field", "flowing", and "blessing" in the text sort of seemed to me like references to Earth crystals (???Level???), Water Crystals (???Level???) and Stones of Blessing, respectively. Also, in the part where it says "On a day without wind", I can't quite figure out whether it means that you DON'T have to use a wind crystal, or whether the simple mention of "wind" means you do.

Anyways, I tried God knows how many combinations, and I just can't find the solution. Any help please?

Oh and one more thing. About the Doom Hammer quest. Gran gave me the quest like ages ago, and I still didn't find it. I beat all 3 Guardians and at am at D29 right now. Is it found somewhere in particular, which I missed? Or does it drop randomly, so I just have to keep on killing monsters till I find it?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me a hand!

Regards

Uther

For the Doom Hammer, you do a quest for the goblin in dungeon 5 who will ask you to get him 10 bat wings in exchange for the hammer...
Regarding the other stuff, no clue since I'm barely starting the game and i am lvl 20 ;)
Hope i was helpful

Thanks for the suggestion Sessadra.
However, I'm afraid this has proven to be yet another glitch in the game to me. I have spoken to that goblin loads of times before, mainly for the Holy Stones. And yet, he never gave me a quest of any sort ...
How annoying. :(
Anyhow, thanks anyway Sessadra.

So after beating "The Eye" he drops some amazing stuff for you to use; ie some armor and weapons. my question is that some of the weapons require the matching armor such as the vampire sword... any idea on where you can get all of the matching armor so that you can take advantage of the level ups?

Can anyone help me with the trail stones I don't know what to do with them and I can't combine them with anything. Can someone help me?

Reply

For anyone stuck on bosses and doesn't care about bug abuse level up but don't spend the skill point. This leads to two bugs. First it gives a full heal every time you press accept, not including the h/sp bonuses on armour while saves on potions and if you have any magic resistance doubles it and keeps adding the original amount so just keep pressing accept without spending the point till it is +100% and then kill the boss as the bosses use magic so you can use level 3/4 skills or charge slash lvl 2 to do it quickly.

also as another tip whenever you have a djinn or are combining just open another window and if it doesn't work save and quit and then save in the other window and start again. This is how I got all gold, awesome armour which really helps.

The Angelic Serum is made by combining 4 large potions of Rejuvenation.

Does anyone know how to beat the 1st boss? It's very long to kill... But maybe I will kill it soon: I maxed up my charge skills and attacked... the armor is so long to destroy... But if you want some damage just don't attack it in the front, and jump on i to destroy its armor easily... But I was obliterated when I went in the room of a golden bat... Does anyone know what is it?

Kann mir jemand helfen?

In dem Verlies 19, nimmt der Verkäufer Geb die Quest(20 Eidechsenschwänze) nicht an, die er mir gegeben hat.

Can someone help me?

In the dungeon 19, Geb, the seller takes the quest (with the lizard tails) not that he has given me.

Das Fragezeichen hat er noch über dem Kopf, aber es steht "undefined" da.
So kann ich die Quest nicht beenden und komme nicht über den Abgrund.

The question mark he has on his head, but it is "undefined" because.
I can not finish the quest and can not get over the abyss.

Ist dies ein Fehler im Spiel?
Is this a bug in the game?

the gold are a bit stronger and you get them from the touchstones

the bosses you can do easily with Blade Storm!

I again started the game again and again the same problem with the quest, as already described.
One must have for a certain level?
Can someone please help?

a great game, the small one is sooo cute :-)

Tips:If you will kill the guardians, use a combination of sprint, berserk, backstab 2 and 3 and fire elemental.Doing this,in less of 30 seconds you will kill them.I normally do this:Active sprint, berserk and fire elemental and use backstab to break his armor(using the two backstabs,is a totally of 9 attacks, and you go to the other side of his eyes =d)Before, you only do normal atks (berserk activated)If you can't break the armor in this way and his can atk you,use small rejuvanetion potions to don't die and use fire elemental to do damage to his armor. If nothing of this work and you die(or if you dont are a dual wield player),comeback with large rejuvanetion and use blade storm to break his armor and use force globe to kill them.
If are a error in my english, sorry,I am brasiliam =e.
I hope that I was helpful,

A tip for fighting against bosses:
Double jumping on armored enemies causes some damage to the armor, combining that with tiger jump(avoid damage at start of jump) makes it alot easier to degrade armor without taking damage!

Use berserk when the armor breaks! (or even better just before)

HOW DO YOU ACTIVELY BLOCK IN THIS GAME???? it keeps telling me how great an active block is, but NOWHERE does it explain how to DO so!!!!

Reply
arcuz2is2hard December 14, 2011 7:16 AM

i agree. i think actively blocking is a passive action that raises when you use character points (you get 5 each lvl up) on defense. it has a percent chance to block, raised by armor and accessories with attributes.

someone experienced, please verify this information

This game is pointless. You get all your weapons and levels and combinations and armor, and wipe the floor with the various dungeon level monsters ONLY to have everything you've accomplished trivialized by the bosses that you have no idea how to combat until you've met them upwards of 20 times.

This game is just not fun...

Reply

Granted, got a few bugs and like most of these games you're expected to automatically know how to play, which I assume is why hardly any help is given, and a few odds and ends that could have used some rethinking, but pretty soon you're looking at a $50.00 game. So even with it's warts, it's a fantastic game, as was the first Arcuz, and it's FREE, FREE, FREE! Please let there be a third!

dungeon 19, goblin trader, 20 lizard tails - for those of you who have the same problem with the goblin trader and him not letting you complete the quest, try picking instead of german another language at the beginning. i assume there is a bug in the german version. i at least can finally continue now :D

Active defense is not the name of the actual skill that allows you to actively defend (Which is not explained anywhere). Active defense is when you use the Deflection skill, aka the only proper defense skill that isn't passive (the shield bash skills are attacks).
It uses mana as soon as you use it and every second it's active (aka while your holding down the skill button) as well. It's best to try and time your blocks perfectly so that you get Perfect Defense bonuses as well.

I spent ages trying to figure all this out myself, it isn't anywhere on the first two pages of Google either (Didn't search any more than the first two).
