Mobile gaming is on the rise, with almost 1.75 billion gamers worldwide enjoying their favourites on their phones. With the industry continuing to grow, and more games being released daily, it can be hard to know which games to choose from.
Thankfully, you don't have to. That's because we've compiled a list of the best mobile gaming apps to download in 2023 - including some of the classics you might have, and the latest you should be playing.
Pokemon Go
When Pokemon Go was first released back in 2016, it became something of a sensation. This augmented reality game had players walking miles just to catch their favourite pokemon - meeting up with others to do the same.
And while it was years back that Pokemon Go made its first entry onto mobiles, it continues to go from strength to strength. With regular updates including new Raid Bosses and events like Spotlight Hour, the developers definitely keep Pokemon Go relevant. And players coming back for more!
888 Poker
For poker or casino fans, 888 Poker is a must have for your mobile. From a poker bonus, to offers and other features, you can access almost everything on the mobile app as you would on a desktop.
888 Poker is one of the most reputable online casinos, and a great platform for enjoying poker games. They also offer a range of poker variations, so you can try different ones or stick with your favourite; including Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi Lo, Blast, Snap and more. The platform also offers a range of tournaments, so you can take your fun to the next level. With some great reviews, and as the EGR Winner 2022, 888 Poker is definitely one to download if you haven't yet.
Call of Duty: Mobile
Call of Duty has been a hugely popular franchise since it first started all the way back in 2003. It made its way onto mobile in 2019, with games that have followed the success of their console and computer versions. And its games are going strong, with the usual game modes alongside a Battle Royale mode which keeps players entertained for hours. It's also a free-to-play game, at least on mobile, so there's lots of reasons to try it out if you haven't had a chance yet.
FIFA Mobile
For sports fans, FIFA mobile is a must. It's been around for over five years now and enjoyed by football fans from around the globe. It's a great add on if you're already a fan to enhance your experience of the game. And gamemakers EA keep players engaged by creating updates that follow changes to the sport in the real world.
Terra Nil
A new one for 2023 (and a must have for your mobile), Terra Nil is a strategy-based video game that was developed by the talented team at Free Lives. Available for iOS, Android and Windows, it was just released in March and has already received positive reviews on Metacritic. This game has a fascinating take on building, in that it reverses what you've come to expect over the years (SimCity anyone?) and focuses on ecological reconstruction. As a player, your job is to turn what would be a barren wasteland into a paradise using fauna and flora.
A fantastic, relaxing new game with some great feedback so far, it's well worth downloading and having a go of it.
Forge of Empires
Speaking of building a city, Forge of Empires is all about building empires and taking a journey through the ages. This is a great mobile game if you're a bit of a history buff or enjoy an ancient civilizations theme. Strategy is also a key aspect of game play, as you'll need it to manage resources, dominate opponents and plan for expansions.
It's definitely worth a go if you haven't played it before and comes with some fantastic elements and the chance to make in-app purchases to enhance your gameplay.
Mech Arena
If you like a fast-paced shooter game, Mech Arena is for you. Fight friends or play against people all around the world. One of the big benefits to this game is you have the opportunity to compete in tournaments and events that are run weekly.
