Level Editor 3

Starchild Welcome to a game which will make you feel like a junior game designer left alone in the office while everyone else has gone out for cocktails. Wait, what? Level Editor 3 is a puzzle platformer which gives you half-finished levels and twiddles its thumbs while you figure out how to position the remaining elements. It also provides you with a little stick man to test with, just so you don't feel like your hard work goes unappreciated. So, your job is to place platforms with your mouse and then get the stick man to reach the end of each stage with the [arrow] keys. There are several different kinds of platforms, and discovering how they function can be quite hilarious... or mean, depending on how you feel about gratuitous violence towards animated characters.

Level Editor 3To get all three stars, you will have to finish each level in the allotted time, pick up all the coins, and find a star which is usually hidden in a secret compartment. Time doesn't start ticking away until you make a move, so you're allowed to survey the screen as long as you like and plan your strategy. If you've played Level Editor 2, most of the platform functions will be familiar, but the level design is certainly improved. The graphics are gorgeous, bright and clean, and the animations are stylish and flowing. The controls are very responsive, which is important in a game where you will often have to juggle between the keyboard and mouse, or sometimes even use them at the same time. Even though Level Editor 3 can seem similar to its predecessor at first glance, the series has come a long way and the newest installment is almost irreproachable. The only possible quibble could be with the difficulty level, which might be a little low for more serious gamers. But if you're looking for some clever, polished, casual fun, the little stick man has you covered. Just don't press [shift] if you don't want him to hate you.
