Part strategic puzzle, part turn-based RPG, this latest idea from Daniel Benmergui has you picking a path through a dangerous dungeon on a grid filled with enemies, items, and traps on your way to take down a god. Though short and straight-forward, it's fun while it lasts and has a ton of potential.

Borrowing heavily off of MoneySeize, Towards the Light is a skill testing, spike hopping, bullet dodging platform game. What sets this platform jumper apart from the rest is the nicely implemented ghost mode that, combined with nice level design, allows the player to explore conventional platforming in new and unique ways.

It's a micro-sized escape... but you're not the one who's trapped! Instead, in this cute game from Vitamin Hana, it's a trio of sad birds who've been locked up in cages, and you'll need to solve a handful of puzzles to set them free.

While the surroundings may look dull in this escape game from new-to-the-scene designer, Indice, the beauty in its clean design and simple lay-out soon becomes clear. Just a bit of wit and logic is all that's needed to solve the puzzles before you, making for a brief but satisfying excursion that will leave you looking forward to the next sticky situation you can be trapped in.

As with most escapes, Button is set in a room filled with all manner of doodads and puzzles: a few paintings on the wall, a red couch, a grandfather clock mysteriously missing its hands, a bookshelf... and a tempting red button behind a metallic hatch beside the door, helpfully marked "DO NOT PUSH" in both English and Japanese. This is a series with good points and bad points, like many others. The visuals are relatively unimpressive, the puzzles are okay in the logic department, and pixel-hunting can get annoying, although it gets much more tolerable later in the series. What really makes it worth playing, though, is the story.

Escape from the Same Room 2 contains everything we like about our Tesshikins: photorealistic graphics, catchy music, and logical puzzles. It's four interconnected rooms, all of which look alike at first glance: a little teakettle on a round table, a green box on a square pedestal, a mysterious picture on the wall next to a button that doesn't do anything. Obviously, you've got to solve puzzles that span all four rooms if you're to get out, with or without the usual Happy Coin.

Playing with your mouse, you have to kill all the monsters on-screen. To do so you have to remove blocks or pop bubbles by clicking on them, alternatively slashing through chains with a sweep movement. The point is to work out the sequence required to get all of the monsters. There is a difficulty curve, but it steeps slowly over the fifty levels. If you enjoyed the rest of the series, you'll be all over this. And if you haven't, but like the idea of some physics-puzzle fun, give it a play!
