Slayin Slayin isn't a game, it's a time machine rocketing from an 8-bit past. Pixel Licker's deliciously compulsive mashup of old school action RPG and contemporary endless runner-style progression is so infused with retro spirit that you might forget you're playing it on a device that lacks buttons.

Insectonator Bugs and I have an uneasy friendship. On the one hand I can appreciate the beauty of creation in their skeletons, the elegance of their societies, and the important role they play in our ecosystem. On the other hand, should one drop down the back of my shirt, talks are going to break down pretty quickly. It is to the latter part of my psyche that Insectonator, the new shooter from SonarGames, is aimed. It might not be too nice to all things great and small, but if you have a hankerin' for some arthropod blastin', it'll be sure to catch you in its web.

Can you spread your plague enough to rule the board?

Alice House: No. 3 House of White Rabbit Short, sweet, and perhaps a bit too simple, this latest installment of Funkland's escape series traps you in a very frilly parlor indeed, and you'll need to find items with lizards on them before you can get out.

Pinata Hunter Gameplay in Pinata Hunter is simple and distinctive, as you swing your mouse Wii-mote style to bludgeon your quarry for tasty treats. After a few upgrades it's immensely satisfying (and addicting). Like squeezey stress toys, or inflatable punching bags, no one can accuse relentlessly beating on a colorful elephant sculpture for candy to be a deep experience, but you'll hardly care once you can fill the screen with flying candy.

Color Instinct Color Instinct is an uncomplicated, but highly interesting physics puzzle which lets you play with colourful bouncy balls (whee!). But don't let the simple graphics fool you – this baby is full of deceptively easy levels which will put your out-of-the-box thinking to the test. With five bonus stages and a level editor, Color Instinct will keep you entertained and challenged for a good while.

99 Bricks In a twist on the classic block stacking game, 99 Bricks challenges you to make a brick tower using standard Tetris play mechanics. Fail-Safe Fail-Safe is a work of interactive fiction created by Jon Ingold. It could be one of the strangest text-based games you've ever seen (in a simple, subdued kind of way), as Ingold removes all meta-commands from the parser, forbidding you do to things like saving your progress. But there's a good reason for this. Fail-Safe immerses you so deeply in the world that even the conventions of playing a game would snap you out of it. And when you start playing, you'll see why that's a crucial part of the experience.

Concerned Joe In Concerned Joe, the title character has to move or he'll die, and it'll take all your platforming skills to get him through nineteen fiendish puzzle and trap-filled stages. Get the light bulb to glow by removing blocks and helping power conductors fall on the right spots. Lots of physics games fall apart because of shoddy engines: bad inertia and unpredictable movement; or poor level design. Let It Glow is a carefully-crafted experience done right.

Perspective! (Steve Warman) Steve Warman and a team of students makes us look at the world from different angles in Perspective!, a puzzle platformer that'll have you shifting from two dimensions to three and back again. While the music and visuals show that the team are programmers more than artists, Perspective! uses what could have been merely a showy gimmick to its full potential, and the result is a fun and challenging visual-spatial experience.

Lesbian Spider-Queens of Mars No wait, come back! This one is satire, I promise! For one, there's its pedigree: Anna Anthropy, master designer of such games as Mighty Jill Off and Redder, someone who clearly knows from killer pixel art, engaging concepts, and uber-difficulty minus uber-frustration. Then, there's its sponsor, adult swim a network that time has shown to have quite the track record in promoting works that capture just the right blend of retro aesthetics and modern sensibilities. And, last, but not least, there is the fact that Lesbian Spider-Queens of Mars is a heck of a lot of fun to play. Ring Pass Not 2 Beware your spare time, the sequel to Ring Pass Not is here! Addictive puzzle gameplay refined along with a new look, a new sound, and more. Make runic circles of matching colours and symbols to progress through the land, earning gems as you progress, to avoid being neatly charbroiled by dragons. While the game still depends somewhat on the luck of the draw, it's a challenging, fun game that can sneakily expand to fill all your free time if you don't keep an eye on it.

Fig. 8 Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy, all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage. I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for avoiding the solid black lines of architectural blueprints as they whiz by at unsafe speeds while you struggle to stay upright on your bicycle built for DEATH.

A Sea Gull Company It's a zany platform game from the creators of Fool Yoo that gets everyone in on the action! As you begin each stage, different-colored players pop out of the same vortex your character falls out of. Each one is a replay of a previous player's actions, so study them carefully for clues as you dash across each stage.

This is Not a Minimalist Game Made in just 48 hours for the minimalist themed Ludum Dare, this itty-bitty adventure starts off as a quest to get a grisly trophy... and then to break a curse! The laws of the world might not make much sense to you anymore, but you won't let that stand in the way of a little destructionI MEAN heroism.

Dark Cut 3 Dark Cut 3 is the latest visceral surgery title in the Dark Cut series from Armor Games. This time we're treated to a sci-fi, time-traveling angle with the usual historical setting. The game brings you the same intense operations you've come to either love or cringe at. The production values and story are the best so far for the series and give context to gameplay that's been toned down to be less punishing.

Legend of the Golden Mask While not as long as a full-sized downloadable game, Legend of the Golden Mask is a complete adventure, a perfect way to while away an afternoon, or a coffee break. Ultimately a fun, casual gameplay experience that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Flee Buster Flee Buster is a retro arcade game about a little human escaping abduction from an alien tractor beam. No wait, it's about a spaceship on the run from Pac-Man's violent quadrilateral cousins. No wait, actually it's about a frog trying to jump as far up as he can from some evil looking spike-water. A bit schizophrenic? Perhaps. But this action-arcade release from Chevy Ray that took first place overall in Ludlum Dare 21 makes one think of Neapolitan ice cream: it has three great tastes that taste great together

Record Shop Tycoon Record Shop Tycoon is a browser-based business simulation in which you own and operate a record shop. At its core it's a very simple game that is easy to dive right into. Each day is divided into two parts: preparing your store(s) for business, and then sitting back and watching while you rack up the sales. It's not perfect, but it is good and worthwhile of your time if you enjoy business simulation games like the classic Lemonade Stand.

Relive Your Life Though one should strive to live without regrets, considering all the different paths a life might have taken is an inherently intriguing concept. Some games attempt to analyze the psychology of our decisions and their consequences. On the other hand, some games, like Relive Your Life, an interactive movie by FrozenFire, will have you button mashing to fend off a competing sperm, before failing to acquire a preferred toy at recess kicks of a chain of events that leads to a popular resurgence in nudism/bear-wrestling. And it'll rhyme too! Clever prose and voice-acting by Egoraptor are highlights, and make up for tacked-on minigames.

The Gatekeeper Matthew's about to take over the family business after his grandmother's death... ghost hunting. In this spooky (but not that scary) short point-and-click adventure from Carmel Games, trap an evil ghost inside a haunted hotel.

Orient Express Night:First Station Though there may not be reason to leave such a peaceful serene atmosphere this train designed by TomaTea provides us with a clever and fun way to depart. Another escape charming game filled with puzzles and laced with soothing music.

I Was on the Throne Another day in the office turns into a surreal adventure. Explore the alien land and find your escape back into reality, probably causing a lot of mayhem for others along the way, in this point-and-click puzzle escape.

Popping Ghosts Who you gonna call? No, those guys are probably retired, and when your ghost problem is more of the match-3 variety, you need a specialist. This simple yet addictively charming little game takes you across 45 levels of arcade action as you deal with ghosts of all types that bounce and roll around the screen to make connections... just keep an eye on your timer!

Mining Truck 2 Fancy taking a mining convoy for a ride through underground tunnels? Can you do it fast and still get all the goods there? You're hired! Develop a case of slowly-rising blood pressure in developer AntKarlov's gravity-bound physics arcade game. The taste of success is worth it.

Escape from the Pumpkin Room Occasionally it's nice just to sit back, relax, and fire up the little gray cells to solve a series of puzzles rather than fry them from constant adrenaline. Escape from the Pumpkin Room is not the most original or taxing room escape game, but it's a wonderful cure for the mid-week blahs. A nice combination of logic puzzle solving and use of found objects guarantees that you will enjoy stretching the neurons a little without ending up slamming your head on the desk in frustration.

Space is Key 2 Games don't get much simpler than this; just hit a key to jump over an obstacle. Easy, right? Well, Chris Jeffrey's reflex-demanding one-button arcade game might just prove you wrong across twenty sadistic levels. With its snappy presentation and straight-forward gameplay, Space is Key 2 is hardly innovative, but it is a well polished little torture device for your reflexes. More than anything, it's a great illustration of how hard you can force players to push themselves at a simple concept just by implying it should be easy.

Tetraform A unique blend of defense, action, arcade, and even physics genres results in this tasty new game from developer veteran Tyler Glaiel. Use the forces of attraction to protect your fledgling new world from incoming attackers by sending them hurtling towards one another. The action is fast, the gameplay is clever, and, perhaps best of all, you get to call yourself an environmentalist now. Congratulations!

Find 10 Cookies You're locked in one again, and this time the only way to escape... is to find and eat 10 cookies! What sort of monster would design such a delicious trap?!... well, MayMay, of course!

Grand Adventure! You wake with a headache, remembering only a smiling girl, but it quickly becomes apparent that something is seriously wrong in this freaky retro action adventure that's worth playing despite a lack of polish.
