Middens After playing John Clowder's Middens, you might ask yourself the following question: what just happened? Calling this adventure/RPG "surreal" is a bit like saying a hike to the moon would be a bit of a trek. You start off with a talking gun who reminds you that each time you pull the trigger, its tongue will be close enough to lick your nails. Then you're dropped in the Rift, a place where... well, who knows what's going on there. The surprising part is Middens actually begins to make sense after a while, though your first experience with the game will be filled with delightful, bewildered confusion.

On his way he is involved in a motorcycle accident. When he regains consciousness he finds himself locked in a room without the engagement ring. This is by far the most challenging point-and-click game I have ever played. Imagine Crimson Room, Viridian Room, and the Blue Chamber all rolled up into one.

a2 Developed in just one month, a2 is a remarkable achievement of a visual novel that packs a serious punch in its narrative. Sona's just going through the motions trying to run the orchestra her deceased estranged father left her, and Hao has just arrived from China to help conduct and doesn't speak a lick of English. But between these two very different people lies some unexpected common ground, and the end result is a story with real heart, honesty, and humour.

Blockage 2 A year ago, Blockage was released with twenty levels of block-moving puzzle joy, but the game had a few rough edges. Now Blockage 2 is here with all those rough edges smoothed out and fixed, 30 brand new levels, and even a level editor to make your own. It's a big improvement on an already fun puzzle concept.

King's Ascent King's Ascent is a vertical-scrolling action platform game that shows life on the throne is always uncertain, especially when giant skeleton beasts are chasing you up the tower. Gameplay is generally familiar, but the plotting has a deconstructive edge that should separate it from the pack.

MoonType: Episode 2 Flex those metacarpals, because the moon is in danger from alien invaders and the only thing standing between the moon and utter distruction are your typing skills. I really do hope you were one of those kids paying attention in 7th grade typing class and not just playing math blasters, because the entire human race is depending on it. It's a great little game that'll keep you playing long after you beat all the regular levels and have been fired from your cushy middle management job for playing video games instead of, you know, working.

Count Out Logic puzzle fans of Minesweeper and the recently reviewed Slither Link will enjoy this latest logic puzzle design from Wouter Visser, author of PLANned. The rules of Count Out are simple to understand: derive the locations of all the golden squares on the board from the numbers given.

Hydra Castle Labyrinth Originally released in mid-2011 by indie game creator E. Hashimoto (Buster), Hydra Castle Labyrinth is an old school-styled platform adventure that was previously only available in Japanese. A brave soul recently translated the game to English, and now the cute metroidvania title is available for a much wider audience to enjoy. And enjoy it ye shall!

Storm Winds New from Hero Interactive, creator of Bubble Tanks and Light Sprites, is a unique combination of tower defense and role playing genres (with a little BowMaster Prelude thrown in for good measure) called Storm Winds. Defending the last fort against an oncoming enemy, you must purchase and place turrets on the structure and keep them in good working order. As enemy waves fly in, select a turret and start firing. It's an intruiging combination of game types that's both strategy-oriented and action-packed.

Clay Jam Squishy and malleable, colorful and in great peril. That pretty much sums up the creatures in Clay Jam, an arcade game from Fat Pebble that lets you save a world of clay creatures from the clay nemeses that are gobbling them up like tasty appetizers. You've got the power of physics on your side, however, rolling down hills, squishing small monsters to gain mass and make a mad leap from the island to knock the big bad guys away. Heroic!

Rebuild (mobile update) Sarah Northway's massively popular zombie survival simulation strategy game gets an update in time for its anniversary on its mobile platforms! With the threat of winter hanging over your head and even more secrets and endings to discover, there's more reason than ever to pick up one of the most addictive turn-based sims around... for the first time, or again and again.

I Miss the Sunrise In a universe torn asunder by a near cataclysmic event known as the Shine, there are those who fight to keep the peace and others who fight to steal whatever peace there could have been. You wake up on a space station surrounded by people who make you realize that you have no memory and absolutely no idea why they're so interested in you. Through exploration and space battles you'll find that not everyone has the best intents for you and that somehow you must make it out alive. In this beautiful prequel to The Reconstruction made by Deltree it's all up to you to be a hero for the universe.

Samsara Room A clock. A telephone. A mirror. A chest of drawers. This room looks ordinary... but it's missing a door, which would seem to be important to the whole "escape" focus. But this stylish and surreal point-and-click game from Studio Maarten will surprise you with its clever concepts and unique approach, even if the ending is a bit of a let down.
