OUTt Two creatures find themselves trapped and separated below ground following a cave in, and must use some unique abilities, plus good old fashioned reflexes, to avoid the mechanical monstrosities and reunite. Mike Inel's puzzle platformer might be a bit slow for its focus on running and jumping, but throw in some clever mechanics and a gorgeous presentation, and you have a charmer that will reward the patient.

Pirate Golf Adventure Pirates and golf, the unlikeliest pairing since chocolate syrup and trombones. Navigate your way through eight stylishly illustrated holes, including some unique obstacles and moving terrain. It's cute and fun, with good level design and an almost unprecedentedly cheesy story. Kids will definitely enjoy playing it, yet it offers plenty of challenges for adults as well.

Bait and Switch It's tough to be a worm on a fishing hook. It's a bit easier when you have firearms, though. Bait and Switch is an underwater shooter in which a courageous red-headband-wearing worm fights for his right not to be eaten by particularly voracious fish. With lots of upgrades and types of enemies, silly graphics and solid mechanics, it's probably the most fun you can get out of simulated fishing.

Stumped Straight from the ghastly hallows of Nitrome comes the hobbling horror of a humdinger, Stumped! As a hopping foot that can only make right turns, can you bounce your way to the exit while dodging piercing spikes, frightening firepits, and eerie eyeballs?

The Aberration Inside Psionic's new horror game adventure game has you trapped in a Hell like dimension. With a demon god looking for new souls to devour, will you find the way out with riches and fame or be trapped forever in a world of torture and madness?

Iromeku At first, it's rather easy. You have a game panel of a few colored squares and, using color affecting tiles, your objective is to change your panel to match that of the target. Then it gets progressively more difficult. Challenging puzzles plus chill music, though, always makes a good match for a game break anytime.

Eunaborb An entertainingly spacey physics arcade golf game from Krang Games, with the distinguishing gimmick being that you can hit the ball again once it's in motion. Not quite a revolution, but a lot of fun.

The Third Kind Creepy, subtle, and unfortunately very, very slow, this text-based horror game about waking up from a strange nightmare only to find your house pervaded with a disorienting sense of wrongness was created in just a month, and is an intriguing example of experimental storytelling.

Chick Hide and Seek 7 Join Yuri's chirpy hide-and-seek playing bunch of baby birds in the park playground, where they've nestled into every possible hiding spot waiting to be discovered by you. Your goal is easy: click anywhere you think a baby fowl could fit, pick-up and properly use a smattering of objects, and collect all ten chicks before you can find the exit and escape.

Jay Needs Friends Never in history has one man worked so hard to collect so many that cared so little as to follow him properly. But that is just all part of the challenge in this noteworthy CGDC 9 entry. Zip through the colourful levels trying to gather enough friends to proceed, while trying to keep your massive human chain from blundering into dangerous obstacles.

Mystic Asylum Spooky rather than scary, Mystic Asylum is an escape game of chills rather than frights. No jump scares here, just a lot of spooky atmosphere enlivened by the standard conventions of a room escape. Stunning to look at and fun to play, Mystic Asylum is also a nice, creepy escape slap dab in the middle of the holiday season, something to cut the treacle and a relief from all of the frantic shopping.

Cling Next up for your action/physics fix: Cling, a new release from Ghostwriter. In Cling you control Edgar the electric spider. As everyone knows, electric spiders love nothing more than reaching a goal at the end of a level. Edgar's legs reach out and automatically grab pegs on the wall when he gets close enough to them. This "sticky" movement lets you slowly crawl across a stage, working both with and against your momentum to avoid obstacles and leap over pegless chasms.

Idle Village A little city-building simulation with your incremental gaming? Build a 3D village from the ground up, from potatoes to rugmaking to jewelry in this new offering from Supercluster. All this and more, from a title still very actively being developed, has put Idle Village firmly on the map.

Treasure Bear A bear falls asleep in a fruit crate and finds himself in a dungeon in Slime Prince's castle. The bear teams up with a treasure chest and they go on a slime-destroying, treasure-hunting adventure. If that's not bizarre enough, wait till you see them bouncing off a huge pig roast amidst a pile of broken plates.

Soluna A dark, moody world bereft of sunlight, this game has you jumping, leaping and fighting your way through your darkened homeland to reunite pieces of a Sun Gem. Use the [arrow] keys and [S] to jump, attack and interact with the noirish landscape.

Dungeon Dice While Dungeon Dice is in many ways a typical RPG, its twist on the genre is that instead of fighting monsters with sword and fang, you fight each other with dice, or "magical numeric cubes." In a way, this is no different from any other RPG, but moving a background mechanic to the forefront makes for a different experience.

Stargazers Stargazers is a minimalist puzzle Ludum Dare entry by Cake and Zeik that's sure to have everyone watching the skies. An interesting variation on connect-the-dots, Stargazers may be short, but it has astronomical amounts of polish.

Boomerang Chang How long can you last against an endless tide of enemies when your own weapon can be deadly to you in this simple but also simply addictive arcade game from Michel Gerard? Toss your boomerang and leap to avoid it and attack enemies behind you, but it's only a matter of time...

Alone in the Park (Amidos & Vartagh) In this adorable little multidirectional shooter, Alone in the Park, you play John the Cook, who after a long day at work, closes down his restaurant and decides to take a shortcut through the park. Big mistake. Because, as we all know, walking alone at night in the park is just asking for a purple multidimensional portal to open up and suck you into a parallel universe controlled by evil mushrooms. In more conventional shooters, you'd have your pick of shotguns, ninja stars, or BFGs. But you're just a cook afterall, so you'll have to make due with thrown cigarettes and pizza cutters, at least until you've earned enough points to upgrade your weapons

Lab Escape Worry not about secret codes or enigmatic messages; Lab Escape simply requires you to take stock of your surroundings and act accordingly. This isn't a bad thing, however; it's kinda nice to take a break from more fantastical situations.

Hold Your Ground What has royalty ever done that was so bad? Sure, there's been a few taxed-in-the-ground peasants and the trifling matter of some wars of conquest causing untold death and misery, but what's a little abuse of power between friends? Certainly it's nothing that deserves having one's castle knocked in on one's head. Hold Your Ground rectifies this situation by putting you in charge of building a defensive structure to guard the royal person. God save the adorable little bearded king!

Balancing Act As the name suggests, Balancing Act requires you to keep a number of balls (and other ball-ish things) balanced on top of each other. Click on a ball and drag your mouse to rotate it, but remember that each action has an equal and opposite reaction! The stylish and humorous presentation and simple control system are to be particularly commended in this worthy game design competition finalist.

Vivid Racers PostBeta invites you to a Tron-like slotcar race, where traffic and obstacles are more of a hindrance than the other racers. Across 6 tracks, race to set the best times possible on densely populated courses that only allow lane changes, rather than traditional steering.

Pee Wee's Nightmare Hamumu's latest creation for Boy's Life is a nightmare... literally! Help Pee Wee escape from his elaborate platforming bad dreams before he has to get up for school... OR ELSE. Run, jump, ninja-roll and soar your way past all manner of dangerous traps and obstacles through three stages of difficulty.

Sienna Room A room where the surroundings are so lush and comfy looking that in real life you'd be kicking back and enjoying living the good life. And Sienna Room has some pretty fun puzzles to distract us with during our stay. So, kick back and enjoy the zen calm of one of Tomatea's early room escape efforts in Sienna Room, a place so comfy looking you might never want to actually leave.

Color Tanks The colours, THE COLOURS! FunByJohn delivers a bouncy, riotous arena shooter about blasting other tanks with blobs of deadly colour across a variety of fun-house landscapes. Chaotic and charming, though not without its sticking points, its a vibrant way to blow up a coffee break.

Calabash Bros Place and upgrade towers of all types to defend against the incoming monster horde in this cute tower defense game that will appeal to fans of Kingdom Rush and Demons vs Fairyland! With multiple difficulty levels and even the option to let a stage randomly select and place your towers for you, it's a solid and satisfying addition to the genre.

Dirt of the Dead Certainly we know about the immediate dangers of the undead: the biting and the clawing and the infecting and the whatnot. What about the larger environmental concerns? I mean, a zombie claws his way out of a shallow grave... who's going to be re-sodding that ground? A vampire explodes in a fiery cloud of dust... someone needs to sweep that up. And don't even get me started on what can happen when a werewolf gets in your flower bed. 3kggames's new action looper Dirt of the Dead shows that the clean-up can get just as intense as the confrontation.

Cubor Cubor lets players gently roll colorful blocks to respectively colored designated areas, which will be a familiar trope to veteran puzzlers. But Cubor adds a couple of twists to the formula. Cubes move by rotating in the direction of travel, and as a cube is only truly home when the colored side is face-down, you must assess not only the means of delivery, but also the approach. Not every orientation will do, and part of the solving is in adjusting the cube's orientation so that it can arrive home properly.

Stack Overload Stack Overload is a mobile puzzle game from Bonus Level that feels like a cross between WarGames: WOPR and a memory game. This isn't as complicated as it sounds, as all you have to do is match pairs of tiles by turning them over one at a time. Overload the stack and you'll move on to the next level!

Ultimate Robotoru Robots? Check. Bad guy? Check. Orbital laser and other ridiculously overpowered special attacks? Check check check! Awkward comedic translation?... uhhh... Berzerk Studios serves up an over-the-top arcade shooter complete with a heavy sense of parody, flashy attacks, and just enough frenetic bullet action to spice up your lunch break.

Park Escape Enter the eerie world of a playground at night and try to escape before becoming totally creeped out in this fun new escape from Dassyutu. The puzzles are a fun mix, mostly use of found objects and observational skills involving colors and shapes. There is almost no dialogue, but what's there is in English.

Bomboozle 3 Megadev's addictive match-3 puzzle game series is back, and this time it's also for iOS and Android! Make matches of three or more coloured blobs to increase your score and advance the game, but watch out for skulls, bombs, and more!

Trip Around The Globe Should you have a yen for social studies trivia, Trip Alone The Globe, an arcade game by Symbio Digital, will more than satisfy that worldy desire. It's a simple challenge of collecting trivia questions, then driving a (somewhat difficult to maneuver) car to the proper location to score points. The graphics are pretty (if a little CPU-intensive), the questions are goofy, but clever, and while the game take only a couple of minutes to play, they'll be good minutes. All that's missing is Rockapella on the soundtrack.

Mechanism Every gaming sub-genre has to grow up and develop angst some day, and for a lot of them, that means they go steampunk. Use your clockwork pistol scalpel to reshape blocks and sever ropes in this collection of over 40 physics puzzles. If you're a fan of Splitter or Ice Breaker and you want some more levels, possibly a bunch of really obtuse and particular ones, here they are. They are here. Enjoy.

RedWhite Slice RedWhite Slice is a short action puzzle that's a mix of Fat Slice and JezzBall, whose strength is in its level design and aesthetics. It's not very long or difficult, but at about ten minutes of tidy design, it's a great way to spend a coffee break.

Wanna Oranges? Do pandas eat oranges? Probably not. But in this game, you've got a little cub that's awful hungry, and oranges are the only way to feed her. Click to destroy ice blocks and set the physics in motion, moving the erstwhile fruit to the hungry little bear.

Ruffian! In Broken Pixel's stylish, tongue-in-cheek, old-timey projectile puzzler, you're a most vile criminal indeed, whose deadly eye and deadlier pistol can take down men, women, and children alike with only a few shots... provided you know where to place them!

Break Them Out Breakout: This time its personal! Your friends (and some precious ores) are trapped in the over-hanging blocks, and it's up to you and your bouncing pick-axe of destruction to bust them out. Each friend you rescue grants you a power-up option to use in future levels. Watch out for stalactites though! A very familiar, but very fun entry of CGDC9.

Puzzle Monsters It's a good-natured game of turf wars as you clear the board of all but the last monster standing. Simply roll an adjacent monster into another monster to push him off, continuing the process until all but one remains. Over time, the set-ups are more complicated requiring strategy and planning to complete.

Blast Billiards Revolution All it takes is a few pounds of explosives to turn boring billiards into a blowout of fun! And deadly. Mostly deadly. As a safer alternative, we suggest trying Blast Billiards Revolution, a take on the table sport where you've got to pot the balls before time runs out and things start to get combust-y. There's not a lot of room for mistakes, but if you can become the king of the cue, you can have a lot of fun with the varied challenges this game provides.

Hormiga Escape There's not a lot of game here, but what there is is casual gameplay done right. Simple, elegant, easy on the eyes, and over quickly, Hormiga Escape is the perfect little point-and-click gem to go with your early morning coffee, a quick five-minute workout for your brain to kick start the day. Help a little ant get home before disaster strikes!
