If there's one thing Ludum Dare 27 has taught us, it's that you can do a lot in ten seconds. The Value of Time, however, is all about what you can't do in that time. At least, not all by yourself. Can you click the End button in ten seconds? Not without help, you can't. Good thing you can cooperate with yourself. Infernet89 has created a simple, deep puzzle game that packs a lot into a seemingly small package.
In Yuriy Kurenkov (of Shameless Clone fame) and Denis Procenko's tower defense game, Zombie World, you must control the resources available to fend back the waves of decomposing monsters. In this mouse-controlled game, you are given three variety of defenses from which to choose, and the defenses are all up to you. No matter how time crunched we are throughout the day, I think we can all use a little zombie killing time, every now and then.
Fight the Cathode Raybots, or join their cause in this over-the-top action shooter by Tom Fulp and the Newgrounds crew. Overwhelming surface flashiness hides an excellent boss-battle creation engine, that those in the community have used to great cleverness.
They say there's a safehouse on the other side of the city, but between you and it is an entire city full of zombies. In this vertical scrolling action game, play as one of two heroes and bash, blast, and even drive your way through stages filled with unique objectives, earning skills and upgrades. Though suffering from slow movement and grinding, Bloodbath Avenue is still a fun throwback to classic arcade games.
There are 49 rooms, and 49 treasure chests, and for the most obvious reason in the world, you have to open them all. How can you get to them all? You're not super fast, you're not super strong, and you can't fly. But you can rotate the world around you, which is quite a useful power to have, especially in a platformer. Now where was that 48th chest again?

Zombies! Typing! Fairies! Ponies! Identical rooms! This week's Link Dump Friday has it all, serving up action, creativity, some escaping, and even a little point-and-click puzzle action. Awwwwww yeah.
After being held captive and subjected to a variety of bizarre experiments, you seize your chance to escape one day, minus the top of your head, only to find yourself trapped in a bizarre lab filled with other hapless test subjects and bizarre puzzles. Point-and-click your way to an escape in this surreal, colourful game from the creator of The Queen of Snakes.
Who even leaves cheese stacked on top of a fridge anyway? Well, as gross as that might be, it's lucky for you that they did, since you're a mouse with a hankering for a chunk and a good throwing arm. This physics projectile puzzler could use a bit of extra polish and depth, but its simple fun and few gameplay twists make it a nice casual choice for sometimes-gamers or kids to enjoy.
Your point-and-click adventure odyssey continues in the sci-fi game Worldgate 3. It lives up to the reputation of its predecessors. The art is as lovely and alien as before, and the worlds to explore ever mysterious. To make things even more exciting, some of your many questions will be answered as you delve into these new universes.
Just as the name indicates, you find yourself inside a small clay-walled temple where the focus is in on collecting and arranging seven lilies in order to escape. All the familiar workings of a standard escape game are here, yet the ineffable style elevates Lily Temple to a beautiful and peaceful sojourn, with just a few small challenges, helping to define Amajeto as a designer of perfectly relaxing escapes.
We only have one moon, so we must do our very best to protect it! So you'll jump into your Moon rover-type contraption, charge your space cannon and shoot some bad guys. with lots of upgrades, cool futuristic weapons and intense levels, That's My Moon is an action-packed, highly addictive shooter.
What do you do with a Brawlin' Sailor? Well, if it's Major Bueno's new action game, then you should play it! Major Bueno has sneakily become one of browser gaming's most intriguing experimenters, with each of their games-a-month being consistently entertaining and singularly unique. This brawling tale of a sea dog punching his way through a multitude of captors is certainly both.
Broken Picture Telephone is back! Using a free account, play with other people online as you attempt to interpret their drawings and create your own from descriptions of others. The premise is simple. Someone writes out a phrase (essentially an idea for a drawing), and someone else has to draw it. Then someone else looks at that drawing and describes what they think is happening in it, and someone else uses that description to draw their picture... and so on... and so on... and so on! You won't know what the other submissions or original objective was until you're done.
Cookie Clicker is back with a sleek new look, upgrades, achievements, and even a subtly sinister storyline. All you need to do to play this webtoy is to click to generate cookies, but as you sell them, you can buy things to make cookies for you. But at what cost? And will things get out of hand?
In the first of Plexus' circus-themed puzzles, the show is coming to town—as soon as you can find and fit together the multitudes of uniquely-shaped jigsaw pieces to complete the picture. As always, the wonderfully imaginative puzzle designs are a joy to toil over, even if this is just a wee bit easier (taking about 15 minutes for most) than some of the other puzzles in Plexus' repertoire.

Next week, the Vault will be converting to 1DS format. So, if you see a line shoot across your computer monitor that makes you want to play favorites from the JayIsGames archives, that's what that is. This week, though, we've got puzzle, adventure, and platform games that are fun in quite a few dimensions.
It's finally time for your dream holiday in a serene fishing village. Of course, that's exactly when demon fish start floating our of the sea, thirsty for revenge. Just your luck. Before you call your travel agent to demand a refund, try to stay alive, save as many people as you can, find a boat and escape the fishing community island.
Watch, learn, adapt... oh, and don't get blown up. Impulse is part physics puzzle, part arcade game, with obstacles modeled after Newton's Laws of Motion. Get the green ball to the portal by generating a pulse that moves anything around it... sounds simple, right? But when propulsion, gravity, positive and negative charges and more come into play, you'll find it's anything but.
All you want is that delicious red apple, but since you can't jump, you'll have to settle for the next best thing... laying out a careful path of your own extruded torso to allow you to make your own paths and platforms. A simple yet very clever (and very difficult) HTML5 puzzler that doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, yet proves you don't need them if you have the brains to back yourself up.
Plunked into a 2D, side-scrolling world randomly generated and populated with dangerous dungeons, and you'll need to smash, stab, dig, and otherwise destroy your environment to gather the supplies you'll need to craft and survive day-to-day. Turns out in a great battle, the kingdom was destroyed and all its people carted off to dungeons, and only you can save them.
Choko Chai's cats are a charming trio full of winning personality and charm. They also keep finding themselves in sticky situations. This time it's being stuck aboard a passenger ship as it sails out to sea. Help them solve codes and put items into creative use or call them onto stage and put them to action. While the puzzle solving and exploration can be hit-and-miss, most the fun and entertainment of this escape game comes from the three cats' ameowsing antics.
Pursued by a killer as you search for the artifacts you need to pay homage to a deity who will destroy him, you have to listen, run, and hide to stay alive in this freakish nightmare of a game made in just fourteen days. Though rough around the edges, its surreal style and great production values make it a fun time with the lights down and the sound up.
You don't know why, but you've got to escape... and you've got to do it over the course of three nights. Three Nights Escape isn't as bizarre as, say, Detarou's work, but it's not exactly normal, either, if the horse in the bathtub is any indication. It has all the typical disadvantages of a Rutenberg game (mild pixel hunts, puzzles that literally can't be solved without trial and error), but the atmosphere redeems it very well, and the puzzles DO make sense if you look at them just right. Overall, it's definitely worth taking a night or three off to play.
Classic jigsaw puzzles are fun and all, but this is the 21st century and we demand more! Which is why Pipkin Games came up with Live Puzzle, an adorable (and tricky) game in which you put together moving pictures. Now, with Live Puzzle 2, there are ten new levels to very pleasantly occupy your time.
PicTune is an experimental sound-based puzzle game by IcyLime based around a unique mesh of sight and sound. In each level, you will be given series of tones that represent a picture on a pixelated grid. It makes your feel that you using a part of your brain not often tapped, and though there are some frustrations getting used to the mechanics, the game has an addictive quality that cannot be denied.

Ten seconds isn't a lot of time, but that was the theme of the most recent Ludum Dare competition! This week's Link Dump Friday features several of my favourite entries that played with the theme in some unique ways.
Do you hate cat videos and think nobody should be allowed to enjoy them? Of course not, you're not a sociopath. But some Scrooge in Nitrome's latest puzzle platformer does, and as a result, you're manning a virus made up of hundreds of chompy worms to take down Mew Tube and ensure nobody ever enjoys cat videos ever again.
What's long and overdue for a trim? No, not your mustache, your lawn. In this puzzle game you must mow the grass by pushing the mower in a continuous path without crossing the already cut portion. With a great retro look and sound, cutting the grass has never been so much fun!
The monkey is back! Or rather, one big monkey and lots of adorable little ones. In the newest instalment of the Monkey GO Happy series, as usual, your job is to put a smile on your furry friend's face by solving point-and-click puzzles. This time, however, each level has three coins which you can collect and buy toys for the mini-monkeys. In a word, adorable.
Alexia Crow winds up falling, literally, into adventure (of the point-and-click kind!) when she winds up trapped in an ancient cave that was once used as a training ground for heroes of myth and legend. To escape, she'll need to explore and solve all sorts of puzzles in a captivating mythic environment filled with mysterious mechanisms and magic.
Do you want to rip through enemy defenses in a blaze of glory? Are you dreaming of ever-bigger automatic rifles and awesome napalm waves? Are you ready to play level after level until you finish each of the hundred adrenaline-fueled missions? Then report to your Battalion Commander and start blasting your way to military greatness.
Despite some truly bizarre logic and pathfinding issues, the latest point-and-click adventure from the creators of Samsara Room is still worth checking out. When your carrot spaceship is struck by lightning, you find yourself separated from your lady-friend on a surreal new world where you have to use the powers of good and evil to proceed... yes, really.

This time, your heroes are two survivors desperately trying to escape the city, one driving while the other literally rides shotgun (or pistol, or SMG), dealing with any hazards in the way.
Kids nowadays have no respect for their toys. Done playing? Toss it aside for something new. But what happens to the neglected toy? Well, in Noel Berry's puzzle platformer, Broken Robot Love, the (literally) tossed robot fights its way back to its owner to win back his affection. To help along this journey against lava, lasers and formidable doorways is the robot's ability to create blocks. Now if only it could also create a loving connection to its boy-owner.

Happily Never After is a lovingly depicted tale of a young girl hungry for adventure. She dares to explore a mysterious forest, guided by the voice of the narrator, who warns of dangers ahead and provides the wise moral. That is, until our heroine decides she wants to do things her way, and from then on the story becomes... somewhat unconventional.

Two of the games in this week's Link Dump Friday are inspired somewhat by Candy Box!, which is sweet enough without one of them also being entirely about delicious cookies overtaking the world. Throw in some ponies throwing down and some zombies, because the law of the internet states that there must be zombies in everything now, and you have a recipe for awesome.
Normally when you pause a game, everything stops, but in this hard as nails platformer, your momentum is preserved, allowing you to soar through hazards and over great distances... which does NOT make it any easier. A beautiful looking, beautiful sounding game that will pound the snot out of you at any given opportunity, and for some people, that's exactly what they're looking for.
If you love Spore, but you're tired of that boring evolution stuff, here comes Red Extinction, a game all about microscopic organisms trying to annihilate one another. Take control of one unicellular blob, equip it with spikes, poison and laser beams and away you go! Fight for survival by purchasing ever better upgrades for your weapons and stats, collect rare drops and customise your critter in dozens of cool ways.
Socrates Jones doesn't get why you'd care about philosophy if you don't have a long white robe and a longer beard, but a freak accident means he's about to learn more about it than he'd ever thought he needed... in fact, his life depends on it! An educational visual novel inspired by Phoenix Wright, Pro Philosopher will teach you how to debate intelligently and constructively, and keep you entertained along the way.
All the roly-poly creatures of the world compete to see who is the roly-polyest in Dillo Hills 2, the new racing game by Evil Space Chicken and Fex Labs! Fans of the original may be surprised by the emphasis on multiplayer action in what was previously a single-player title, but altogether the changes are for the awesome.
This pretty little escape, the first by Amajeto, channels a very TomaTea vibe in the artwork and presentation. Each of the four walls has only a sparse amount of furnishings, all designed to be puzzling or informative, and it's your job to piece together clues and solve your way out the locked door into the night forest.

Bright copper kettles, warm woolen mittens, and quality works from the JayIsGames archives... These are a few of my favorite things! This week the Vault has arcade, platforming, and escape titles to remind you of, and when you play them, well, then you won't feel so bad.
A clock. A telephone. A mirror. A chest of drawers. This room looks ordinary... but it's missing a door, which would seem to be important to the whole "escape" focus. But this stylish and surreal point-and-click game from Studio Maarten will surprise you with its clever concepts and unique approach, even if the ending is a bit of a let down.
Run, jump, and burst your way to save the princess in Knight Runner. This jump and run game is fast paced and addictive, with some launch game mechanics thrown in for good measure. Squish your enemies and gather coins to buy upgrades and power-ups so you can make it to the end and commence with the rescuing!
A man in a dog suit. A happy mountain. A cheesecake poster. And a whole lot of clues. Detarou's latest escape will have you going in circles, deciphering both puzzles and the clues that refer to them, as you try to find your way out. With a greater emphasis on puzzle solving than shock value, Deru Game is a challenging little diversion... though still more than weird enough.
Some of our mobile readers may have picked up Conceptis Puzzles' Tic-Tac-Logic, a logic puzzle where you've got to fill the grid making sure rows have an equal number of Xs and Os, but never three-in-a-row, and no two rows are identical. But why should they have all the fun? In Tic-Tac-Logic Light Vol. 1, you can play a sampler of 30 puzzles right in your browser, thanks to this newest addition to the Conceptis Light series.

In this visual novel style story made to raise awareness for teen dating violence, you'll have to help Janie explore her memories and her life to come to some unpleasant but necessary revelations about her relationship... and herself.

It's the oldest trick in the lame spy book: when in doubt, jump under a box, because nothing says "inconspicuous" like a moving chunk of cardboard. In What Box? your mission is to find the exit while being hidden in, you guessed it, a box. The trick is that you see yourself through the eyes of security cameras, so finding your way through rooms and corridors is positively labyrinthine.
Once in the cave, there was a cliff, a fire, and some shadow puppets... oh, wait. Wrong cave. Once in the cave, there was a wizard searching for the evil wizard in AnienaGames' new platformer. Earn achievements, unlock skills, and experiment to find the best way to defeat your enemies.
In Sirtet, you're in charge of destroying some grumpy red blocks. Why are they grumpy? No idea. Why are you destroying them? It's a mystery. Anyway, use Tetris-inspired formations and bombs, lay them on top of the surly red bocks and beat level after level of this simple but entertaining puzzle game.
All shooters are created identical, if not equal, right? After all, how much can you change up "shoot the things" as a gameplay concept? Well, this clever little puzzler has a few ideas, and in this sequel to the 2011 hit, each level offers up new mechanics and rules you'll have to figure out how to work with... if you can even figure them out at all!
Are you obsessed with typing to a somewhat unsettling extent? Then Icarus Proudbottom Teaches Typing, a parody arcade game made by Holy Wow Studios for SomethingAwful's "Subversive Edutainment" Game Jam, should be right up your carpel tunnel-stricken alley! A pitch-perfect parody of educational software, Icarus Proudbottom Teaches Typing sometimes gets off-color, but never unentertaining.

It can be tough being the mayor of a sovereign town, but fortunately The Vault is here to take off the pressure of office. Action, interactive art, and puzzle games should definitely help you kill some time... at least until the fireworks festival starts.
A funky beat, a big screen television, a bunch of puzzles, and several not at all creepy bird statues watching you from every single angle... it may be weird, but it's also Tesshi-e, so you know it's bound to be good. So start hunting for clues and cracking puzzles and find your way out!
The heroes of this turn-based strategy RPG are surly, drunken, rude, violent, and more than a little bit potty-mouthed... but then, so is everyone else in this crumbling society. Though it does take a while to get the ball rolling, however, World's End Chapter 1 eventually reveals itself to be an extremely ambitious piece of storytelling and gaming in general.
When you're dangling by your fingertips off the edge of a cliff, what you really want is for someone to come and help you up. Instead, fate hands you a stupid little bird that tries to peck your fingers off the edge. No, Birdie, No! is a quick skill game of reflexes and dexterity where you've got to hold on to the cliff, but lift your fingers before the menacing canary pecks at them. How long can you hang on?
Life can pulverize you. But in Human Chop, a physics puzzler by Methamphetabear, it is you who gets to be the pulverizer! A cut-the-rope style game elevated by its hilariously bleak sense of humor.
Teacher Story is a gorgeous, fun, funny game with glimpses of serious cleverness. As the name suggests, you play a teacher who's trying to stuff his classes full of knowledge, but first needs to literally beat the stupidity out of them to get through. Though hampered by an aggressive and restrictive free-to-play model, genuinely strategic combat and a gorgeous presentation still make this one worth checking out.
Elegant, calming, and packed full of puzzles that require deductive reasoning and not a little brainpower, Robamimi's latest escape game offers a soothing atmosphere to go with its clever design, making for the perfect way to wake up the slumbering escape artist in your brain for the day.

What do you get when you cross a noir story with a pair of immortal magic-wielding horses, ten little green men, and a cat with a hygiene problem wielding a chainsaw? Link Dump Friday, obviously!
This puzzle platformer is the story of a spirit who gets chained within an earthly body and must find out a way to get back where he belongs. A beautiful game with a great concept and some flaws dragging it down to earth. If you have the patience for it and a steady hand, it's well worth checking out and admiring. Just... don't expect it to be as forgiving as you.
Instead of being forced to run the new business because Papa is a lazy jerk, this time you're working off a debt. As if making cupcakes to order fast food style weren't inherently hilarious and difficult enough, in addition to cranky customers, batters, frosting and more, you've also got the changing seasons to contend with... and the holidays they bring!
Currently available in beta, Room Escape Maker is exactly what it says on the tin... a free online tool that allows you to make and share escape games, or play those created by others. Besides, it's a free way to help hone your ability to ensnare helpless people in locked rooms filled with diabolical mechanisms.
You stumble through the corridors of the ruined building looking for help, but you might have gone from the frying pan strapped down into the dentist's chair with rusty surgical implements coming straight at your eyeball. So, hey, apart from your distressing ability to stumble right into the arms of one serial killer after another, this is a pretty good time! The Vault is cancelled! Goodbye!... Or not! This week we're featuring adventure, action, and puzzle perfection from the JayIsGames archives. Have at it, you media leeches!
Transmorpher 2 is a great action-puzzle platformer hybrid in which you control four aliens, each with different abilities. In twenty-two levels you will encounter a large number of things especially designed to kill you, from lasers to acid puddles to hostile creatures, and you'll have to use brain as well as brawn to negotiate cleverly designed stages and reach the end.
You play a cute virus trying to take over the board in this simple to learn turn based strategy game. Click which color you'd like to expand to, and you'll automatically fill all adjacent spots of that color. Try to occupy more spaces than the computer in vs mode. Can you spread your plague enough to rule the board?
Daniel Haslop's puzzle platformer, Leave Me a Clone, will give you quite a challenge through all 35 levels. Play as the cute little yellow alien who just wants to get through the next portal. Create clones of yourself to act as stepping stones (and any other use you can find for them) toward your final goal. And if you happen to earn stars along the way by collecting all the energy orbs or limiting your clone use, all the better!
Plumber Pickle might be busy for a while, since the leak he's been called on to fix in this point-and-click adventure/escape game needs more elbow grease and creative thinking than usual. Like all Pastel Games titles, Plumber Pickle is stylish and has a few surprises up its sleeve that means this is anything but your ordinary repair job.
Terra Coda is an adventure game originally developed by Zillix for Ludum Dare 19, now re-released in a polished form, wherein you live and relive the life of a time-skipping alien organism trying to escape from disaster. It's a game that throws you in at the deep end, but one that very much evokes the thrill of discovery.

Take Attack on Titan, stick it in a locked room, and add in a guy whose only special skill is pancake flippin' and what do you have? This week's Link Dump Friday, of course! Escape, action, stealth and breakfast foods all in once place, just like momma used to make.
In this pointandclick adventure, an alien hires Harry to find photographic proof of people disappearing at the titular carnival, because of reasons, that's why. I mean, what, you thought aliens were all about abduction and probing? Geez. Rude. The game's campy sense of humour and style make it the perfect light-hearted bit of adventuring to brighten your day.
Now in its third major release, this platformer allows you to play as everyone from better-than-Boba-Fett bounty huntress Samus Aran to Mega Man 10's Bass, all with their iconic abilities intact, tearing up the classic Super Mario Bros. levels you know and love. Dismissing this as just a simple knock-off is doing it a disservice, and this latest update cements its position as one of the crown jewels in the fan creation crown.
Alchemystery is a gorgeous game in which you play with various materials in order to reach your goal. You control balls made of everything from stone to gold, and each matter has its distinctive properties. To pick up all the coins and reach the end of the level, you'll have to roll, nudge and transform the balls through twenty-one clever puzzles.
Haretoki doesn't disappoint with this latest escape-the-room funhouse of clever puzzles and baffling devices. Quirky contraptions line every wall, inviting experimentation and exploration. You'll need to think outside the box and work through clues that are logical yet subtle, but the "This is way cool!" payoff is worth it.
Pretentious Game is a series of three minimalistic episodes about love, loss and growth. Although narrated in short sentences and illustrated only by the characters' simple actions, the games are powerful and engaging, handling human frailty in a unique way.
While it might seem easy to write it off as an imitation of Fragger, Nature Strikes Back stands on its own merits a physics-based projectile game. Each level either introduces new elements or combines existing elements in a new way, giving it a sense of "just-one-more-level"-ness. Acid Bunny is an action-platformer that revels in offensiveness, almost as if its ashamed of the adorable heart beating underneath. Certainly, one can't tell tell the story of a cute lil' bunny with a tendency for acid flashbacks without getting a little dark, but those who stick through the aggressively bleak humor of the opening will find an engaging open-world to explore. Please be aware that this game contains material many would find offensive, including drug use and suicide.
Dyna Boy, what is the secret of your power? Things that go boom! And indeed, quite a few things will in Neutronized's new retro platformer. Familiar mechanics are boosted by a slick presentation, and good use of physics puzzles in later levels

Cat Around Asia is the third game in the series in which you have to help a hungry kitty get her international snacks while solving a bunch of interesting physics puzzles.
The evil purple alien crystals are trying to take over the world again, this time starting in Greenland. In this enjoyable tower defense game, seed your plants strategically on the board and link them for more power. Can you use your symbiosis to eradicate the crystals for good this time?
Yuri has more seek and find cuteness for you in an escape-the-room game set in a summer backyard. Ten tiny chicks are hidden from view but you'll need their help to get out. So look around and solve puzzles to coax them all out of hiding. There's two endings to enjoy as well.
