Amazing Dare-Dozen One of my favorite casual games that I keep returning to when I have just a few moments to spare is an early Orisinal game called The Amazing Dare-Dozen. The object of the game is quite simple: climb as high as you can by repeatedly landing an egg into the basket above.

The Roomz The Roomz is a point-and-click game with similarities to online riddle games along the lines of God Tower and Ouverture Facile. One key difference is that The Roomz has a slight adventure flavor to it and, as a result, is more interactive. Each room has a locked door and keypad. You must use clues inside the room to discover the password to get out. Move objects and use the magnifying glass to peer at the scenery in detail.

Katamari Damacy mini-game An official Katamari Damacy mini-game is now available on Namco's Japanese website. It appears to have been designed to illustrate the main concept of the game, which is to joyfully roll the katamari over smaller objects to collect them and make the katamari bigger so that you can then roll over even larger objects. To this end it works quite well; however, the mini-game does not even come close to the fun of the original.

Making Monkeys Making Monkeys is just as charming and quirky as Greg Sergeant's previous game Use Boxmen. With only 11 true levels, this puzzle platformer is definitely brief, but it works well as a coffee break game, maybe along with some monkey-shaped toast and a banana.

Saving the Company A short-but-sweet platform puzzle adventure. Rather than raid the employee fridge, one behatted and unusually bouncy worker responds to his company's financial crisis by entering a puzzle filled dungeon to grab a treasure. Somewhat like I Don't Even Game, figuring out what to do in each stage is sometimes the only challenge. Once you know all the tricks, it'll take you only a few minutes, and even your first play-through probably won't take you longer than 10, unless you get really stuck.

Totally Odd Totally Odd packs together a great bundle of clever thinking and creative presentation. Don't let those three little words "trial-and-error" dissuade you from the thoroughly enjoyable gameplay. With a bit of persistence and patience, that "Ah-ha!" moment when you finally solve a tricky puzzle becomes all the more gratifying. If you're hungry for mental stimulation in a cute little wrapper with an unusual dash of spice, Totally Odd is the perfect brainfood.

Figurines Room Escape Most of the fun of Figurines Room Escape is simply enjoying the ambiance as you work your way towards getting out of a place that pretty much anyone would probably love to visit once in their lifetime. Figurines Room Escape provides both time and a location to relax and enjoy a mini-vacation.

Balloon in a Wasteland You know the old saying about not getting between a boy and his balloon? Of course you don't, since we just made that up. But in this fast-paced action/shooter/defense hybrid, you'll need to learn the value of a hot air balloon if you want to escape this strange landscape. Repair it as quickly as you can to sail off to safety, but be careful. There's a welcoming party headed your way, and it isn't very welcoming.

Escape from Yepi Planet Join Yepi on Yepi planet as he attempts to rescue his Yepi girl from hostile aliens in BeGamers' delightful and whimsical point and click adventure. You just need to find the right combination of actions to get Yepi across the scene and on to the next. This is a short and sweet little time waster, packed with tons of personality, quirky characters and backgrounds, and more than a little rude humor.

The Freewill Cycle: Volume 1 (Redux Edition) Completely refurbished and revised, this redux of the first installment of William Buchanan's two-volume adventure game series is meant to supersede the original. You wake up alone...where? Someplace unearthly. Ominously void of life. Imbued with insinuations of wrong doings. Point-and-click to explore your surroundings, gather tools and solve contextual puzzles. As you read the narratives found within each room, not only will you find clues to help you successfully "escape," you'll collect pieces to a story that leaves you with as many questions as answers. There's two possible endings, also. Recommended: play the "Director's Intent" mode in a dark room with the volume up for the maximized experience.

Choco Challenge TomaTea has opened a pretty new sugar shop to tempt you, treat you and delight you. Once inside, though, you'll have to solve some puzzles, reassemble tile mosaics and gather up handfuls of petite chocolates in order to escape. As if you'd want to leave! The soothing music and lovely aesthetics add to the serenity along with a glowing cursor and puzzles with just the right bit of challenge to satisfy without leaving you feeling sour.

Earth Taken Earth Taken is an action platformer by SeethingSwarm that casts you as the desperate measures that the desperate needs of an alien menace require. It's a mishmash of run-and-gun and survival horror tropes, but an entertaining one, with some very cool (and toxic looking) environmental design.

Nuclear Outrun An interesting combination of Cyclomaniacs gameplay with Nerdook's trademark intense combat, Nuclear Outrun is a fun physics-driving-shooting hybrid about outrunning a nuclear missile. While lacking in depth, Nuclear Outrun still manages to be a lot of fun, especially once you get the gun that shoots sharks. What more do you need?

Dismantlement: Earth The earth's got a bomb inside of it! If that sounds strange to you, well, obviously what you didn't know is that the earth is also comprised of elaborate puzzle codes you need to decipher in order to unlock different layers and dive deeper into it... naturally! The beloved point-and-click puzzle Dismantlement series makes a return, where you'll need perspective to solve its mysteries.

Awesome Tanks 2 Who says mayhem has to be deep and complex? It's mayhem, people! In this frantic, vibrant arena shooter, blast through hordes of varied enemy tanks and earn cash to buy new upgrades to enhance your destructive power. Less a true sequel to the original and more an enhanced version of the original, it's the perfect ka-blooey break for your day.

Earth Taken 2 In Earth Taken 2, an action platformer by SeethingSwarm, you are a survivor, trying desperately to shoot through the hordes of aliens who've turned the world toxic. So a lot like the first Earth Taken, then. Jocularity aside, though, while there's a lot that's the same, gameplay has also been refined, making this the sci-fi horror game the original could and should have been.

Cubes clink along one space at a time. And cylinders do... both? Warp Shot Warp Shot is what would happen if aliens from an advanced civilization came to Earth and decided golf wasn't awesome enough and needed more gravity wells, black holes, and rockin' guitar solos. From John Cooney and Armor Games comes a quirky little physics puzzle game where you sling a spot of light across a play field to reach the exit, collecting orbs and avoiding nuisances like gravitational pull along the way.

Hero in the Ocean 2 Check out the world under the sea in this relaxing physics puzzler, the second in what should become an excellent series. Guide your submarine past traps and dangerous creatures to find stars and treasure chests.

Hanger 2 It must be rough to be so fragile that even a bump against a ceiling will remove precious body parts. Swing from rope to rope, as with a grappling hook, to reach the exit of each level without losing too many body parts.

Absorbed 2 Have gun, will travel, especially when that gun can absorb and spit out everything from zombies to TNT. A fun and bouncy platformer that gets appealingly chaotic, though one whose slippery movement and familiar elements could have used a little tweaking.

BinB When dungeon crawler meets Bomberman, BinB is the result. A simple-looking arcade game at heart, this little release from Maxim Karpenko (a.k.a. Kendja) packs a lot of bombs, a lot of power-ups, and a surprising amount of strategy, especially when you consider it's mostly about blowing things up and collecting gold.

Metalix RPG The Metalix have hidden their power source deep within their lair, and it's up to you to seize it! If only you weren't so... naked. Dungeon crawl the night away in this addictive roguelike from Point Zero as you search for gold, items, weapons, and, yes, clothes on your way to stop the Metalix. With randomly generated treasure and dungeons, steel daddy-long-legs, giant eggs and killer babies, you're in for a long trip.

Kill the Heroes "Take down the good guys!" That's what the title tells you in Nerdook's tower defense venture, Kill the Heroes. Place your tower units along or around the path as the little soldiers cycle around the level, taking their shots at you when they can. Earn cash for purchasing units and upgrades (why do heroes carry so much on them anyway?). It's not everyday you get to be a sinister, big-brained alien, so take what satisfaction you can from it before you take over the world and life becomes too easy.

Rod Hot's Hot Rod Racing Does your local terrain have too much flatness and nowhere nearly enough ramps? Then come on down and check out Rod Hot's Hot Rod Racing, new from Turbo Nuke, for all your racing action needs. A spiritual successor to the Cyclomaniac series, with all the inexplicable car flipping we've come to expect, the emphasis on customization is cool, even if it comes with a grindy cost.

Pirate Pat and The Treasure of Atlantis Ahoy there! Pirate Pat wants to loot Atlantis! Guide his pirate submarine beneath the waves. Avoid jellyfish, collect treasures, and find the Crown of Atlantis in this enjoyable action game. Explore a wonderful undersea world while solving the mysteries of Atlantis!

Starmada Sometimes a game doesn't need to reinvent a genre to be just as fun, addictive, and riddled with bullets as we want it to be. In this classic-styled top-down sci-fi shooter, pilot a tiny spaceship against increasingly impossible odds, bigger bosses, and catch coins to purchase upgrades to help your chances. It's familiar, but well polished, and just the right size for some explosive coffee-break arcade carnage.

Robots Can't Think Robots Can't Think, Z3lf's newest puzzle platformer, has you controlling a robot through a set of challenges. You can pick up, drop or throw blocks; climb along walls and ceilings and, most importantly, warp through space and time. When you die, the system will attempt to 'rewind' to a previous safe position, but to help prevent death, you can scan the level with a click of the mouse. Robots Can't Think is a challenge, so don't be surprised if you find yourself creating a pile of scrap metal, but it's worth it.

The Bard's Journey Sure everyone's played a fighter, mage or thief, but few have had experience with the bard. Sapient Games has created a whole world revolving around this character in their text-based RPG, The Bard's Journey. Using your mouse, choose the options below the text to either take an action in that area or to move on to the next area (which can also be done with the compass). You can compose your own music to play in battle, but balance is the key in order to get the set of bonuses you desire. Even without the music writing, this RPG is fun and the story is interesting, so feel free to pack up your lute and use the default songs for a quick dive into a melodic, mystical world.

The Great Bedroom Escape You might think that after escaping the kitchen only to find yourself locked in a living room, and then a bathroom, and then a basement, that we would learn not to get into tight situations such as these again.
