It looks like a shoot-em-up, but approaching it with the goal of flying as far as you can in mind, rather than blasting everything in sight, players will find quite the fast-paced and challenging bit of arcade fun.

First impressions count for a lot. In the case of Soul Redeemer, the new top down zombie action shooter by the Bekho Team, it introduces itself with a plot-explaining narration that cracked me up, though I don't think it was supposed to. Still, whenever a game starts by expounding on how, every couple centuries or so, the alignment of constellations somehow release demonic forces to eat our souls, and the only thing standing in their way is a warrior dude in asymmetrical armor shooting stuff... I'm going to stay around. And I'm glad I did! While Soul Redeemer is not the most original of games, it has a charm to it that fans of the genre should enjoy.

A kingdom stands poised to be torn apart as two of its would-be champions can't agree on a course of action... which is where you come in. In Axis Games' action-RPG adventure, choose a side and develop your character to be the hero the land needs and strike down all those who would come against you. Preferably with fireballs.

Tapping the [arrow] keys lets you slide everything in that direction, smashing red/blue tiles and identical white tiles together to increase their face value, marked by darker blocks at the top. The goal is to keep combining tiles to create as many massive numbers as possible!

So Simon meets platformer is not a bad way of thinking about it, though there is quite a bit more to it. Energy is the operative word for Rock 'n' Risk. The whole thing is built like an action game show, with cheering crowds and an upbeat, "dude" commentator praising your every excellent move.

In Crane Wars, you play the role of a crane operator, and your mission is to grab hunks of building and stack them on top of each other. Your other, more fun mission is to fling stuff at those filthy scabs working next door!

Stacking things on top of other things has never been more fun... or more tricky! Try to achieve the correct weight on the scales to balance both sides, but watch out; create a single solid row of blocks and they'll vanish, Tetris style! So warm up that thinker between your ears and put on your puzzle solving gloves, because Libra will test your mettle like few other games will.

Usually the worst you have to worry about in the forest is walking face-first into a spider-web, or maybe getting some really awesome poison ivy... not getting cursed and transformed into a twisted monstrosity, then melded with your malformed brother and forced to puzzle-platform your way out of the dark woods while beset by bone beasts from all sides.
