Why is it that whenever the protagonist's car breaks down in the middle of the night they go to the only house with no lights on? And then they just invite themselves inside as if they owned the place. Serves them right when the door snaps closed behind them. This point-and-click horror escape game has you in such a predicament, but even a rude person like yourself doesn't deserve what's awaiting you in this house.

Despite the lack of English, this is perhaps the most accessible of Tesshi-e's games. No color puzzles to confound the colorblind, and no construction to infuriate the mechanically inept. Just smooth music, a very Zen space, and lots of escaping logic to serve your casual gameplay needs. Get ready for a relaxing trip, complete with a nice hot soak waiting at the end.

Their puzzles are original and logical yet not too frustrating, there's no tear-your-hair-out pixel-hunting, and there's just the right amount of whimsy holding it all together.

Funkyland's latest Alice in Wonderland themed escape gets a little festive this time around. With five Mad Hatter items hidden around a party filled with clues and puzzles, you'll need to use your wits to escape, even if it doesn't take that long!

T2B Escape is a good-looking, clever and impressively well-designed escape-the-room game, easily a cut or two above most others of its kind even if the premise isn't anything spectacularly new or creative. T2B has two or three puzzles that genuinely made me chuckle with delight upon solving them, which to me is a significant part of the pleasure in playing such games.

Triangle is absolutely charming. Its atmosphere is decidedly different from practically every escape game I've ever played before, and for someone who's played as many as I have that's a feat. Explore the room, pick up various items, solve various puzzles, and eventually regain your freedom.

G-Sensor is a solid, well-plotted and very enjoyable escape-the-room game from Japanese developer HILG. You, as a nameless business-person, have checked into the mysterious Uncle Boo's Hotel, and now you can't get out!

Long before they discovered a save button, long before they found a competent translator, long before we first featured one of their games, Tesshi-e created this cute little puzzler that deserves a spot in the Weekday Escape spotlight. Give Escape from the Dome Room a try and enjoy playing this early and amusing effort from the brilliant Tesshi-e escape game designers. Despite the flaws, there is a lot of entertaining room escaping to be had.

Currently available in beta, Room Escape Maker is exactly what it says on the tin... a free online tool that allows you to make and share escape games, or play those created by others. Besides, it's a free way to help hone your ability to ensnare helpless people in locked rooms filled with diabolical mechanisms.

For those who enjoyed the previously reviewed Ambivalence, there's a brand new game, Confined, just released today from the same Japanese developer, FonGeBooN. This appears to be a fairly standard point-and-click room escape game until you dig a little deeper. From what I can tell so far, pixel hunting is minimal (though present), instead the focus is on puzzle solving, which is always a plus when it comes to games like this.

Take another trip into the bizarre world of Detarou's escape games. Whether it's from the strangeness or not, it's your mission in Dayori to find a way out of this curious house. Fans of Detarou's work may find this offering somewhat mild compared to the others. That's not to say you won't see their regular cast of characters that we've all grown to love. If you haven't had your hand at a wacky Detarou escape game, this is a great introduction. You may just find yourself giving all their games a try!

Pine Studio serves up a short but rock-worthy escape in your browser or free on iOS and Android as you try to find your way out of a cozy, abandoned little concert venue. But with a soundtrack this catchy, will you be able to resist air-guitaring long enough to escape?
