The Static Speaks My Name The Static Speaks My Name by Jesse Barksdale is a first-person exploration-based adventure that takes place in a lonely house with random documents scattered all over the place. And while jump scare won't be showing up, there's no shortage of atmospheric creepiness, as you step into the shoes and home of one messed-up individual. A short experience, but one most disturbing and darkly comedic.

Fractal In Fractal, a puzzle game by the authors of Auditorium, your goal is to create "blooms" which are composed of six hexagons of the same color. On the surface it sounds like a simple matching puzzle, but the web-like nature of the gameplay and the gorgeous presentation makes it so very much more.

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!
A Reckless Disregard for Gravity If you're a fan of first person skydiving games with lots of vowels in the title, Aaaaa! A Reckless Disregard for Gravity by Dejobaan Games is right up your alley. Your goal is to make it from Point A (generally assumed to be somewhere above you) to Point B (somewhere below point A) without crushing every bone in your body. Unfortunately the skies are littered with airborne buildings and architectural oddities. And birds. And cars. And large glass plates with numbers on them.

Twisted Lands: Shadow Town If you were to find yourself washed ashore a strangely silent island with a deserted town, you might have cause for alarm. But when you start seeing things out of the corner of your eye you might really start to worry. Especially when the person you love is missing too. Twisted Lands: Shadow Town is a fun, cheesy horror hidden-object/adventure title that isn't as scary as it tries to be, but is still enjoyable and definitely well made.

Five Nights at Freddy's It should be the easiest job in the world, watching the security cameras at night at a pizzeria with a group of animatronic critters. But with a limited power supply and a growing sense of unease, surviving til dawn will take nerves of steel and fast reflexes in this jump-scare-filled indie horror game.

Farm Frenzy Farm Frenzy weds an arcade title with a resource management sim for a game that's as much thought and planning as it is fast mouse clicking. Gameplay revolves around planting grass to feed animals which in turn drop goods for you to use. These goods can either be sold for cash to improve your farm or turned into higher-value products to rake in even more gold. As you progress through the game's 45 stages you can buy more animals, get new buildings and upgrade existing structures, all while keeping a lookout for bears that drop from the sky!

Princess Isabella:
Return of the Curse With its darker and more powerful storyline and haunting music Princess Isabella: Return of the Curse still delivers the goods of involving, entertaining, challenging gameplay. The ability to chose two different modes of play makes Princess Isabella fun for both beginners to the field and seasoned adventurers looking for a challenge. Beautiful beyond belief and exciting to play Princess Isabella: Return of the Curse is a definite hit.

Once Upon A Timeline Can you imagine what your life would have been like if your Uncle was Doc Brown? All the crazy adventures you would have gone on? Well our protagonist in free indie point-and-click adventure Once Upon A Timeline can as his aunt is working on a time machine. He soon finds out it's not all fun and games, though there is a great deal less worrying about destroying the timeline. He and his Aunt are pretty lax about that.

Missing Translation The story line to AlPixel's free indie adventure game seems rather simple. You go out for a late night walk to help you sleep only to find yourself being sucked into an alien world. You need to solve puzzles to start the machine that pulled you out of your world. But as long as you're there you might as well explore a new culture, and learn a new language if you're up for the challenge.

Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst Unlocked A mere month after the release of the last game in the popular Mystery Case Files hidden-object adventure series, Eipix serves up another! You've been plucked delirious and wounded from the sea following the events of the last game, but even after you've been committed to an asylum, you're still the only one who can stop a great evil in this creepy casual adventure.

Moirai Moirai is a short, experimental-style first person adventure game created by Chris Johnson, Brad Barrett and John Oestmann. By most appearances it seems to be a straightforward exploration game with a few characters to talk to and a cave to explore. But Moirai has one key feature that makes it worth several minutes of your time...

Gardenscapes: Mansion Makeover Back in 2009, Playrix Entertainment — those purveyors of wonderful time management games —created a hybrid between time management and hidden object finding. Three years after Gardenscapes debuted, its lovely sequel has finally landed: Gardenscapes: Mansion Makeover! And this time, it's personal! Or, at least, indoors.

Gardenscapes 2 Your butler Austin has decided to visit his parents and you are tagging along. His old home is in dire need of renovation, and that's where you come in. In this hybrid between hidden-object and time-management gameplay, you will organise a series of junk sales to raise money and restore the garden to its former glory, as well as help Austin revisit dear memories of his childhood.

Enlightenus II:
The Timeless Tower Enlightenus II: The Timeless Tower, a sequel to the original Enlightenus, is an utterly intriguing adventure game. Calling it a hidden object title is not only inaccurate, it doesn't do the game's style justice. Think of it as a modern-day casual Myst, complete with hidden worlds warped by magic, puzzles that require toting inventory items around, and mini-games worth their weight in pixels. Enlightenus II is exactly the kind of game any casual adventure (or even hidden object) fan is craving.

The Book of Legends Here's a tip. When it comes to ancient demons, send the most qualified person for the job to do it right. Not the person nearest at hand to slap a bandaid on the problem. Jordan, a powerful but lazy and opportunistic warrior, manages to mess up his quest to put an ancient evil back into slumber in the worst way, and suddenly finds himself facing the unwelcome task of saving the world through actual hard work and adventure in this enormous, vibrant, and frequently funny indie RPG.

Mystery Trackers: The Void After three well-known, eccentric public figures go missing inside an old house with a bad reputation, it's up to you to find out what happened to them. Easier said than done, since this is Void mansion, and there are more secrets, and more surprises, hidden within its walls and beyond than you could ever imagine. A remarkably creative and tremendously fun hidden-object adventure game that is definitely worth a look.

Dungeon of the Endless So you crashed landed on a planet and your pod was buried deep into some sort of long forgotten dungeon. Get your group on their way to the elevator to advance floors and find your way to the surface. The life giving gem on your ship needs to go too, but monsters creep in the dark and its seems like their soul purpose is to destroy all life in this engaging indie roguelike strategy game.

Farm Frenzy: Gone Fishing Farm Frenzy: Gone Fishing takes the Farm Frenzy series in a slightly new direction: to the sea! Instead of messing about with chickens, cows, and sheep, your new friends are fish of all types (and maybe even a mammal). While the basic set-up remains the same, the new visual direction breathes a bit of life into the game, and as always, a Farm Frenzy title is bound to keep you busy for many afternoons on end.

Chroma Squad In this love letter to classic sentai shows of yesteryear, you control a group of actors who are sick of making boring television and decide to start their own studio. You'll create your cast, shoot episodes, upgrade your equipment and more in this indie strategy RPG that's a cheeky parody in all the right ways.

Sepulchre A quiet train ride turns out to something else entirely in this short, bloodless and jumpless freeware horror adventure. Though potentially both too obvious in its twist and heavy in its symbolism, Sepulchre is a beautifully executed and eerie little tale that's worth checking out.

Not only will you be building a path through several unique environments, you'll also bribe barbarians, build settlements, and chop hundreds of trees as you wind your way up to the mountaintops to the home of the gods themselves!

The new Swarm Gold features an impressive emulated 3D graphics system and realistic sound. You have free range to fly around the entire map just as we've seen in many modern top-down shooters.

The Tiny Bang Story When Amanita Design's Samorost or Machinarium meets a smart, non-formulatic hidden object game, The Tiny Bang Story is the beautiful result. A point-and-click puzzle game at heart, this charming release from Colibri Games will hook you from the start, keeping your eyes busy and your cursor mobile from the opening screen all the way to the very end. It's a stunning and very memorable game that will make you wish more games followed its careful design concepts.

Lethal RPG: War Begins The kingdom is in peril, and undead armies are rising all across the land! You are Lethal, the king's champion, and you and your band of trusty adventurers must put a stop to the skeleton legions! This browser-based RPG is a miniaturized prelude to the full Lethal RPG: War PC/mobile game, but it's still stuffed to the gills with enemies to fight, pets to collect, bosses to take down, and sidequests to venture on. Venture through the forest, desert, and mountains to take on lizardmen, bandits, evil mushroom-wielding sorcerers, and more!

Mermaid Swamp A simple road trip becomes a nightmare when four friends are stranded in a strange mansion by a swamp, and things start going... wrong. Could it be the mermaid's curse? Olav and the Lute Olav and the Lute, a music-based puzzle adventure game by Shelly Alon, and Johann and Daniel Von Appen has you exploring a post-apocalyptic fantasy world, wielding the power of a magical stringed instrument. Tales from the Borderlands: Episode One Rhys is a Hyperion suit who just got demoted by his worst enemy. Fiona is a con artist who wants to make the money she and her family need to live free and easy. They may hate each other, and they may both be to blame when things go wrong, but one thing's for sure... this first installment in the point-and-click episodic adventure series by TellTale based on the popular shooter is unexpectedly hilarious and exciting in all the best ways.

Choice of Robots Available as a paid browser game, a download, or in your pocket for your mobile device, this meaty, smart text adventure takes you through thirty years of your own life as a fledgling roboticist, where your every decision can drastically change the world around you. Both philosophical and funny when it needs to be, Choice of Robots offers a massive amount of replay value, and a whole lot of food for thought.

The Fall Trilogy
Chapter 1: Separation In this first chapter of The Fall Trilogy, a new adventure/hidden object hybrid game, Kheops has taken the look and feel of a large, platform-style or large-file game and condensed it down into easier casual gameplay. A nice intro for those new to the genre, while being challenging enough for those who love the larger, more immersion-filled experience of large-file games. Beautiful, alluring, and fun to play, The Fall Trilogy: Chapter 1 is a promising start to a new series. Here's hoping the trend continues!

Vampire Saga: Pandora's Box Decades ago, the ship Pandora met with tragedy at sea while returning to America with some very... special cargo. Tonight, the phone rings and your grandfather has called to confess something terrible. Are the fears of an old man groundless? Or is there something else in the dark in this point-and-click hidden object game? You're about to find out you can't leave your past behind... no matter how hard you try.

The Cat Lady Susan Ashworth has had enough of her lonely life and makes the decision to end it... but that choice leads her on a surreal journey that will have her questioning reality... and her sanity. Tasked with a strange spectre to eliminate the five psychopathic "Parasites" plaguing the city and "blessed" with immortality, she goes on a violent, dark journey that may be too much for some players to take in this visceral indie horror adventure.

Dairy Dash In Dairy Dash you are in charge of a family of farmers who must feed, water, and care for a number of animals (and patches of garden) in order to harvest milk, eggs and other products. Dairy Dash eschews a number of more complex game mechanics and focuses on efficient ordering of tasks, not how many convoluted upgrades you can buy. Because of its simplicity, Dairy Dash provides one of the most rewarding resource management experiences in the genre that's familiar but with a few strokes of originality.

The Treasures of Mystery
Island: The Ghost Ship Discover why a small tropical island has been over-run by the spirits of a sunken luxury liner in this captivating, beautiful and thoroughly fun adventure game. It is one of the best adventure games we've seen this year. Sometimes I struggle through these types of games, mostly the result of boredom. This title? I played it twice — in a row.

A Magnetic Adventure Magnets, levers, buttons, switches, gears, springs, rope, blocks of wood... They all exist for one purpose: to create puzzles for us to solve! Or, at least they do in A Magnetic Adventure, a physics-based puzzle solving game from Alawar Games. Tied together with a loose story you'll forget the minute you learn it, A Magnetic Adventure is all about moving totems to special marks on certain parts of the stage. Getting there requires some creative puzzle solving of the "drag stuff around" nature.

Hollywood Tycoon Finally! It's about time a resource management/casual tycoon game came along that's more than a fresh coat of paint and a few new tricks! And it's fun for hours upon hours, too!

Virtual City 2: Paradise Resort In the world of time management/casual simulation games there are plenty of Build-a-Lot clones, so it was exciting a few years back when a new player entered the field with Virtual City. Rather than concentrate on building or development, Virtual City took the genre in a whole new direction by focusing the gameplay on the movement of goods, services, and people. Now, G5 Entertainment is back with Virtual City 2: Paradise Resort, which takes the transportation madness to new and interesting heights.

LYNE Prepare to enter a zen-like trance as you play LYNE. In this minimalist puzzle game, you must connect all similar shapes without crossing your path. What starts out simple quickly becomes complex as you bust your brain to solve as many puzzles as you can.

Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt In this very retro action RPG made in just four days, Princess Remedy descends to Hurtland to heal a prince, find her missing friend, and save every sick person, animal, tulip, slime, and monster by blasting their sickness away.

Hate Plus Where Analogue: A Hate Story dealt with unraveling the reason behind why the Mugunghwa had been dead adrift in space for so many years, the visual novel Hate Plus focuses on both a greater understanding of one of the core characters... and the most questioned aspect, the how and the why society aboard the great ship regressed in the way that it did to such a horrifying degree.

CAVE! CAVE! DEUS VIDET. What do you get when you mix Hieronymus Bosch, a minimalistic setting and a curious teenager? Madness, that's what! CAVE! CAVE! DEUS VIDET. is a bizarre trip down the rabbit hole, during which you can expect everything from the seven deadly sins to learning about medieval history to slowly losing your mind. And it's all weirdly awesome.

Fashion Solitaire Fashion Solitaire is a surprisingly challenging blend of solitaire and dress-ups. You must dress a certain number of models with at least a hairstyle, top and bottom garment and shoes before you can progress, and there may be conditions attached, such as including a red item. You can earn more dollars by designing your own clothes and adding them to the solitaire deck. On the solitaire side, each card represents a garment type (i.e. shoes, jewelry, skirts, etc) and features particular colors and patterns. They are stacked in piles with only the top card exposed, and you use the exposed cards to dress your model.

Impressions: I Am Bread (Early Access) One lonely little slice of bread has a dream... to be perfectly toasted. Too bad getting there is way, way harder than it sounds in this ridiculous physics game from the creators of Surgeon Simulator 2013. Currently in Early Access, I Am Bread can be frustrating, but also charming, hilarious, and a lot of fun if you're patient.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Makoto considers himself lucky to get a random inviting to the elite Hope's Peak Academy, but it quickly becomes apparent that he and the other 14 students may be anything but when they discover they're trapped inside, and the only way out... is to kill. A bizarre and creatively twisted surreal visual novel adventure that provides a lot of fun and cleverness, but trips itself up with a lot of tropes and clunky mechanics.

Crashlands Flux and her companion JuiceBox are just on their way to deliver some packages when their ship gets destroyed by a giant floating purple space head. Now they're stranded on an alien world, and they'll need to build, bash, and craft their way is they want to get home... as well as deal with the villain himself. The Wizard's Pen The Wizard is missing and with the help of his magical pen you must conjure up all that is hidden to find him. With the magic pen you reconstitute the mysterious invisible world to make it visible.

The Terrible Old Man There's a frail and senile old man, they say, who lives alone on the edge of town and pays for his groceries with gold dubloons... the perfect mark for a trio of goons in this short but supremely creepy freeware indie point-and-click adventure based on the original tale by Lovecraft.

Celestial Mechanica Celestial Mechanica is a quietly impressive platform adventure (a.k.a. "metroidvania") game along the lines of Knytt Stories and the Robot Wants series of games. Created by Roger Hicks (author of rComplex) and Paul Veer (animator of Super Crate Box), it's the sort of game that sits quietly off to the side, never begging you to play it, but once you do, you'll be hooked 'til the end.

Flaws Flaws, the interactive work of fiction from author Jon Ingold, is a difficult game to categorize as well as a different game to review. For starters, it isn't really a game in the traditional sense, more like a choose your own adventure produced for modern, Kindle-enabled devices. Then there's the nature of the story, where discussing even a few of the details can spoil whole bits of the experience. Suffice it to say, Flaws is an intriguing interactive fiction "game" about finding treasure and fame, the Andromeda galaxy, a mysterious diadem, and a possible assassination.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs In this chilling indie horror game, our protagonist awakes, dizzy and disoriented, in a dark and silent house, in a bed surrounded by a cage whose door has just been opened. Hearing the phantom laughter and pleas of children, he has no choice but to stumble forth in search of them. But what are all these locks and bars on the doors, dressers, beds and windows? What are the ornate sculpted pig masks that silently watch you from every room? Why do you suffer from disturbing, disjointed memories? Why are there so many hidden passages in this place... and why does it shake and groan around you? There are a lot of questions, but the answers might not be the ones our hero was hoping to find.

Dreamsdwell Stories Dreamsdwell Stories is a unique match-3 type puzzle game with some strategy game (as in the village building variety such as Totem Tribe or Westward III) elements that build into the experience. Wrapped in a package of crisp, sometimes beautiful, graphics and catchy theme music, the core of Dreamsdwell will have you enjoying the game for hours.

Cooking Dash 3:
Thrills and Spills Given how our lives tend to be hectic in nature, it's a wonder we enjoy dashing around parking lots, hotels, and restaurants in the games we play during our time off. In Cooking Dash 3: Thrills and Spills, you, as Flo, sweep through a series of food venues in an amusement park like a cuter and more clean-mouthed Gordon Ramsay, turning run-down establishments into money makers. It's a refreshing prequel that furthers tightens an already impressive series.

Sally's Studio Need to chill out? Stress being a little extra stressful today? You should stop by Sally's Studio, a new time management game that isn't all about pulling your hair out trying to get everything done. Sure, customers come in, they want things, and you need to deliver them, but in this world of yoga, exercise, and spa treatments, it's more about taking it easy than clicking faster than your mouse can handle.

Gone Home Gone Home is an unconventional story exploration adventure game created by The Fullbright Company. It's a game that's void of traditional puzzles, flashy cutscenes, and hidden rooms filled with guns and ammo. Somehow, though, it manages to capture your curiosity from the beginning and never, ever let go. Anyone who enjoys a good mystery or the feeling of uncovering a story piece by piece should check out Gone Home right away. Everyone else should read the rest of this article, then go play the game!

Fallout 4 Bethesda's beast of an open-world RPG is back on PC and consoles. You thought you were safe in Vault 111 when the bombs fell, but after a betrayal, you find yourself 200 years out of time and chasing your missing son. Despite some odd design changes and a lingering sense of familiarity, Fallout 4 is still simply massive and engrossing, even if the detective robot can't be my husband.

Kivi's Underworld While Depths of Peril focused heavily on strategy and diplomacy, Kivi's Underworld is a lot more action-oriented; in some regard, what you might expect from a platformer, even though it's an isometric, top-down RPG game. Instead of a sprawling game-world like in most RPGs, you'll find a progressing series of level-like "adventures" with quests, achievements, new characters to unlock and skills to beef up.

Jardinains! Jardinains is an Arkanoid clone with a little something extra: the presence of 'nains—giggling little garden gnomes that will hurl potted plants at your bat, paralysing it and causing you to lose points. You can get your own back, though—if you can break the pot you win the points you would have lost, and if you can knock the giggling little brats off their perch, you can bounce them on your paddle to get points and power-ups.

Otherworld: Spring of Shadows The fairytales you heard when you were young, the ones you thought stuffed with nonsense and meant only as cautionary allegories to frighten children into behaving properly, are not so far from the truth. So, as curious as Alice in Wonderland, you peek behind the veneer, following clues left by Fiona, a little girl trapped in another dimension, and become caught up in Otherworld: Spring of Shadows, a sumptuously-detailed fantasy adventurehybrid from Boomzap.

Cantrip So, you were cursed by a witch to be a human magnet, and all for collecting cans. Figure out how to use your newfound powers to save your sister in the action adventure game Cantrip. In this twisted take on the Hansel and Gretel tale, wend your way through the scrapyard, fight off guard dogs and more as you cleverly use your magnet powers to find the witch and get your sister back.

Natalie Brooks:
Secrets of Treasure House Casual adventure games are gaining ground as titles such as Azada and the Dream Chronicles series cut out the complexity and serve up a little lighthearted gaming alongside item-based puzzles. Natalie Brooks - Secrets of Treasure House follows suit in an adventure that uses optional hidden object scenes to earn hints to solve puzzles in the main quest. It's a good blend of genres that, despite its rather short length and occasional grammatical hiccup, holds your attention with an interesting story and varied gameplay.

Tiny Thief Gorgeous, funny, and packed with wickedly devious levels, this is one iOS/Android game you won't want to put down. Play as an itty-bitty thief and his ferret companion as you point-and-click your way through beautifully designed stages and chapters, each with their own unique story and setup, to rob from the buttheads and give to yourself... or those who need it more.

Our Personal Space Have you ever imagined what it would be like to colonize a distant planet? Jump into the shoes of a space pioneer in this sci-fi interactive fiction. The decisions you make effect not just your relationship with your new husband, but potentially the whole planet. What will you choose?

You Were Made For Loneliness You Were Made For Loneliness, a Twine narrative adventure by the Tsukareta author collective, weaves a tale of memory, the post-apocalypse, regret, murder, and in its own skewed way, love. It's a disjointed presentation, heavy on experimentation, but those who love exploring and piecing together a narrative from many component parts will find it a very intriguing experiation.

Youda Safari It's Youda time! Youda Safari takes time management to the carefully-controlled realm of animal photography. Failing safari businesses are being turned into hunting grounds, and as the ever-helpful Lucy, you have agreed to help a friend liven up his tours. After all, shooting animals with cameras is better than with guns.

Dreamland Beautiful, engaging, lengthy, difficult, Dreamland is everything that you could want in a hidden object/adventure hybrid and more. A feast for the eyes, ears, and brains, evoking that long ago distrust of the traveling carnival and showing the evil that can lurk beneath the surface of any childhood fantasy. Take the time to enjoy the experience and the thrills of Dreamland.

Turbo Subs Turbo Subs, a follow-up to Turbo Pizza, is a food serving time management game along the lines of Cake Mania 2 and Diner Dash. On vacation from the hectic pace of serving pizza (at turbo speeds), Rebecca and Robert travel to New York to relax. The entrepreneurial bug has bitten them, however, and when they see a small subway car they just can't help themselves. With Robert behind the sandwich counter and Rebecca serving food, the pair opens up a subway shop and hopes for success.

Castaway Paradise Available free to play on iOS and Android, or for a flat fee on Steam, this adorable indie casual island sim gives you a place to kick back with as you help the town grow around you. Perform quests. Catch bugs. Build a museum. Plant crops and flowers. All this and more await you in a cheery little Animal Crossing-alike that's fun for all ages.

Lumino City Help Lumi find her grandpa in this beautiful puzzle adventure game. During your search you will meet and help the quirky inhabitants of Lumino City. Solve puzzles, and fix machines in the mechanical town, while searching for anyone with information on who might have kidnapped the town handyman.

Aztec Tribe Aztec Tribe from Merry Pen Games is a casual combination of Farm Frenzy and Build-a-lot. Between building and upgrading gardens, mines and houses and managing a slew of resources, you'll help an adventuresome tribe establish a new home in a faraway land. It's a rewarding and relaxing game that delivers extra challenge only when you want it.

Rite of Passage:
The Perfect Show Children are disappearing from the quiet little town of Everlake; police and parents are their wits end but you're not about to give up. Enter a surreal world that is rather like a David Lynch version of the Drawn series. Superior graphics and added interactivity make the hidden object searches a delight, a diverse and plentiful assortment of minigames will keep you thinking, and the immense number of settings and locales to explore will make this feel like an epic journey. Forget about pragmatic realism and let yourself be won over by the strange magic of Rite of Passage: The Perfect Show.

Goat Simulator Finally, a game which answers the age-old question, "what would it be like to be a goat?" This is Goat Simulator, the action sandbox game which parodies infamously "realistic" simulation games. Headbutt cars, do flips on trampolines or bleat at unsuspecting pedestrians... you can do it all!

Be a King Be a King is a new fantasy strategy title from 300AD. It follows in the tracks of games such as King Mania, Forgotten Lands: First Colony, and the Build-a-Lot series and blends a streamlined building-centric real-time strategy game with a handful of casual knowhow.

Runefall Playcademy delivers a remarkably comfy and enjoyable match-3 puzzle game as you help a struggling village rebuild itself when it discovers mystical runes in the surrounding area, though the arrival of a spoiled princess brings more trouble than they expect.

Fabulous Finds The premise of the time management/hidden object game Fabulous Finds is that your eccentric old Aunt from Carmel, California (most famous to me as the town where Clint Eastwood was Mayor for a time) died and left you her house with all her crap, er, priceless treasures in it. You're stuck with the property taxes, so you'll need to have a garage sale!

Dark Dimensions: City of Fog Tragedy rocks an isolated town, but nobody wants to talk about it... mainly because they've all vanished. Over a century later you find yourself at the gates, drawn there by an obsession from your own tragedies and a mysterious letter, and wind up embroiled in a plot of love, hate, and murder in a place that straddles the line between nightmare and reality. A creepy and captivating hidden-object adventure with quality and good times to go around.
