Bird's Eye View Escape Bird's Eye View Escape is a unique, well-made room escape game that offers a new perspective (literally) on the genre; it also happens to be really tough. If you're willing to take on a challenge and have the stamina to crack open some seriously enigmatic puzzles, we heartily recommend this game.

Bouncy Fire Fighters Bouncy Fire Fighters is a remake of an obscure 1989 Japan-only Famicom title, about a firefighter who rescues people from a burning building via an extremely bouncy form of the classic arcade game Breakout. Of course, the Nintendo one featured tiny 8-bit pixel art, whereas in this one the female fire victims put the bouncy in the title, if you know what I mean. Time marches on.

Blinkz 2 Ah, true love. It's the classic story of pink boy block meets pink girl block, separated by teetering physics puzzles, explosions, and eeeeeeevil! Click to remove blocks and unite the two lovebirds in this simple but absolutely adorable game that delivers relaxing visuals with some clever additions to its familiar gameplay.

Airport Security While drawing up my packing list for an upcoming trip, I quickly became confused. What's allowed on-board aircraft these days? Can I bring a bottle of water, or is that still banned? Will my laptop be confiscated at the border? Will I need to remove my pants before boarding the plane? These issues are all part of the gameplay in Airport Security, a fast-paced and thoughtful Flash game from Persuasive Games.

Spooky Night Escape A point-and-click adventure disguised as an escape, Spooky Night Escape evokes the look and feel of the Halloween season with its nighttime setting, pale moon, and eerie trees. You have run out of gas somewhere on a dark, deserted road and must search the area, find some clues, solve some puzzles, and get the heck away before the inhabitants of the ominous nearby shack return. Don't go into Spooky Night Escape expecting ghosts, ghouls, or jump-scares, because there's none of those to be found. The game merely evokes the feel of the season with its look and unearthly music clip.

Bango! If you were to ask us, "What is Bango?" we could say a lot of things. "A board game! A breakfast cereal! The newest pop music superstar!" But of course, since Bango! is actually a puzzle platformer, we would be dirty rotten liars. Race across blocks that plummet behind you, trying to clear the screen of them without falling yourself. It's harder than it sounds, and with an extra five levels each of "extra-hard" and "frustrating" difficulty, it's a challenge for everyone!

Alexia Crow: The Pandora's Box Alexia Crow, protagonist of QuestTracers' series of point-and-click adventures makes a choice and becomes a hero in Alexia Crow: The Pandora's Box. This concluding chapter of the trilogy contains many of the positives and the negatives of previous installments: gorgeous art and interesting puzzles marred by a clunky interface. But fans of the series should definitely be glad to see how this story ends.

Piece of Princess Cake What's a viking gotta do to get some cake around here? Well, in this short and silly point-and-click adventure from Carmel Games, you'll have to appease a centuries-old family feud... by picking up something expensive at the local Vikea, of course.

Button Escape 25 All you have to do to escape is find and click on the eleven hidden buttons. Should be easy, right? But with sneaky codes and some definite weirdness, this short game might not be so simple after all.

Nature Strikes Back While it might seem easy to write it off as an imitation of Fragger, Nature Strikes Back stands on its own merits a physics-based projectile game. Each level either introduces new elements or combines existing elements in a new way, giving it a sense of "just-one-more-level"-ness. Can you get rid of the evil polluters and turn the world green again?

Traumata Many people have issues with their childhood, but Adam doesn't even remember his deceased parents. Humbugger Ziggy Fraud will never learn, at least not as long as he can bend reality to his will in weird ways and his noble chicken steed is there to carry him from danger! The follow-up to Humbug is distinctly more of a straight-up puzzle platformer with difficulty this time around, but the bizarre sense of humour is definitely intact.

Or, failing that, the age when you can play a really fun puzzler in which you create paths for a cute robot on its way through ever more elaborate levels.

Boohbah Zone Boohbah Zone is a surreal journey-- wait, no, it's not really a journey. It's more of a... thing. A thing with lots of colors. Well, it's kind of like a webtoy, but you actually do stuff in some parts of it. Interactive art? You know what, forget classifying it, Boohbah Zone is an extremely bizarre collection of game-like scenes where you play with color, sound, and flobby-looking hippopotamus-like people things.

That's My Moon 2: Phantom Menace Let's protect the Moon! Again! In this fast-paced, lasers-everywhere defence shooter you'll mow down wave after wave of intruders in order to save a big hunk of space rock – and with all those cool upgrades and unlimited futuristic ammo, that will be no problem at all.

Thor: Bring The Thunder Zounds! A movie-tie-in advergame that is a 16-bit platformer and doth not suck? And one that doth has been made by retro king Big Pixel Studios! Yea, verily! I personally may be a bigger fan of the Distinguished Competition, but any game that lets you control a Norse God that flings lightning and hammers around is certainly worth a look. Yes, it's Thor: Bring the Thunder, just released on the main Marvel site. Indeed, I've heard that the company has just released a 150 million dollar movie for the sole purpose of promoting this game. Was it a waste of money? By Odin's beard, I say thee nay!

Give Fly and Blast a shot if you enjoy flying or blasting. Just don't be surprised when you find yourself drawn to the battle suit.

Ebul Ebul is an unusual "sandbox" platform game involving a crocodile pilot, his birdpal sidekick, and a blocky-looking landscape where the blocks themselves are at your command. Run, jump, and move various blocks across two-dozen levels of retro-feeling goodness in an attempt to recover items to fix your broken airplane.

Chubby Hamster With its cute animation, wacky yet suspenseful music, amusing sound effects, and its bizarre characters, Chubby Hamster is a fantastic adventure all on its own. Help the poor hapless hamster escape before he meets unspeakable doom. Unspeakable, I say!

Catapult Madness With trolls on every side and the nearest kingdom over 50,000 feet away, what's a king to do? Well, you could make peace with your deities, try for a valiant final stand... or you could load your unwilling populace into a questionable catapult and fling them through bombs, spears, birds, and enemy forces to try to reach help, no matter how many civilians you have to splatter along the way. I think you know what the responsible thing to do is.

A Short History of the World I think that everyone, if only for a second, has considered the possibilities of traveling through time. Sadly, we don't have the budget for a DeLorean. Fun in the Sun Think you have problems? If Andrew doesn't come up with five grand, not only will his inn be shut down forever, but he'll be thrown into a volcano, in this strange and silly point-and-click puzzle adventure from Carmel Games.

fitted This lovely game by inversecoma offers everything we could want in a game, and possibly even that much more. This is an avoidance sidescrolling game that looks simple on the surface, but there's a whole lot more to it that will test your skills, patience and perseverance.

A Void for Machinery Forget a heart. This little robot is looking for something a lot more depressing, but considering the hostile landscape he's stuck in in this short puzzle platformer, it's not really surprising. Simple gameplay and gorgeous style combine to make a familiar but beautiful experience about robots and the saws that tear them to robot pieces. Aw.

Wild Wastelands When mutants come knocking at the secret lab's door, it's up to you to pick up your gun and blast them away in this grindy but fast-paced arena shooter that's full of upgrades and only gets more chaotic as you go.

Koogel The theme of Casual Gameplay Competition #4 was "ball physics", and you can tell that Monsterkodi was taking it seriously. So very, very seriously. You see, in Koogel, you're using six medium-sized balls to indirectly manipulate a bevy of smaller balls, in order to light up a collection of even smaller balls. Bits and Pieces The first thing I noticed when playing Bits and Pieces, David Lorentz's new platform game, was what a crazy good jumper its pixelated protagonist is. I mean, yeah, most platform heroes wouldn't make it through screen one if they couldn't jump five times their own height, but this dude easily launches himself off like a bottle rocket at the slightest provocation. Good thing though, as making it to the artistically confusing finish will require quite a bit of hopping and/or bopping. And it's a load of fun.

3000 AD 3000 AD is a mech-battle game shown from a top-down perspective. Unlike the arcade action of Robokill, it's a stomping, creaking affair, much like classic tales of tall machines like Mech Warrior. Here your steel chassis will absorb gunfire, and lots of it. Your job is to dish it out faster than you take it. The low-resolution graphics won't satisfy everyone, but it's almost like a story of olden times, when pilots were bearded, pixels were gigantic, and mechs were huge and clunky, not like these modern mechs with their hyper-skates and their glitch-core bina-rave parties.

Save My Robotos These robots are obviously in peril! Could you imagine using anything other than extreme logic (or Binary Laser Grenades) to save them? Save My Robots is a turn-based programming game similar to Codex of Alchemical Engineering or, more precisely, Junkbot. The goal is to move all 'bots on the screen to the green "X" marks so they can be teleported out. Machines follow the code you've created at the bottom of the screen. All you have to do is program them to make it to their destination. Totally easy to do, right? Right?!

Pina Pony Call it base sentimentality, but sometime what we need is a pinata racing through a magical candy kingdom, collecting gummi bears and dodging sugar-hungry bat-wielding toddlers. Gameshot apparently has recognized this Jungian urge and delivers with Pina Pony, a retro jump and run platformer. Like a bag of Skittles, Pina Pony may not fill you up, but it's fun and colorful, and definitely a sweet snack.

The Nokkians 2 The Nokkians 2 is a new vertical shooter by Awoker Games. Using the term "vertical" is a bit of a lie, as one of the key features of this casual shmup is its game-altering screen effects which twist, turn, rotate and scale the entire game world as you play, making dodging bullets only half of the challenge. Add in a load of achievements, a great soundtrack, and gameplay that won't frighten the casual gamer, and you've got a great shooter that can actually draw you back for multiple playthroughs.

Gnome Go Home After a long day of slaving away in the mines, these gnomes just want to get back to their little homey cottages to rest their tired little bodies. This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the vile witch who twisted and falsified some of the paths. Help them find their way back home and keep the witch from having her way in this puzzle game also free for Android!

Ballrooms An entry from Dom Camus (The Turtles of Time) into our 4th Casual Gameplay Design Competition, Ballrooms plays more or less like a standard table-top pinball game with an added element of exploration. It's sort of a pinball adventure game where you earn points, grab power-ups, and travel between boards via a network of warp holes. The end result is a pinball universe that's as much flipper pounding as it is exploration.
