Although this Flash puzzler is similar to other sliding block puzzle games in its class, what I find special about this one is its presentation and execution. A name I will refer to as Prachka (Orbox), the game was developed by a Russian who goes by the name Rubilon (his real name is Arseniy Shklyaev), and he has made it available to play on his Gamebalance website along with several other games he created. Babel Fish translates the name as "The Laundress Game", though the meaning seems to have been lost in the translation.
On the opening screen of the game, click on "Начать игру" to begin a new game. The goal of Prachka is to navigate the blue and yellow blinking box to the red goal—in the fewest moves possible—using just the arrow keys for control. One key press will send the box moving in that direction, and it will keep moving in a straight line until another object deflects it or causes it to come to rest. If the box goes off the board, you must start the level again. Also, the game does not save your progress, nor does it provide a password system to start again at a desired level. This is the only significant downside to an otherwise excellent game.
The game is based on a familiar puzzle game that has been around for years. Although I can't place the game's origin, Rubilon has added his own designs and graphic effects that make this version all his own. A feature I found especially helpful was the little graphic bubbles that highlight the path you take as you move around the play field. This helps to orient yourself in later levels where the solutions are quite complex. The level design ramps up in difficulty at a very comfortable pace, allowing someone unfamiliar with the game to jump right in and begin having fun. As the levels progress, unique new devices and objects are added to keep the game feeling fresh and challenging. A fun little puzzler in a very pretty package. Click.
Rubilon has also made an English version of the game, called Orbox, available on his website. Click.

Has anybody got past lvl 13 (I think it's 13, might be 14) ... It's just impossible (or I'm missing somthing!)
Nice game though!
Posted by: Barry | March 1, 2005 10:40 AM
Finished with a 20815.
I suppose I could go back and do it all again without the screw ups and get a much lower score, but that's not really worth it.
As for level 13 or 14, I can vouch that they're possible, but I don't remember them, so I can't help.
Posted by: Daddaluma | March 1, 2005 9:42 PM
Yeah - I did get past 13 eventually ... but then got stuck on 19!
How many levels are there?
Posted by: Barry | March 2, 2005 5:03 AM
25
The last level is a "boss monster" of sorts.
Posted by: Daddaluma | March 2, 2005 11:14 PM
wow! how addictive?! finally managed it though - 21890, is that bad?
Posted by: :D | March 3, 2005 12:25 PM
i just finished the last level, score of 21380
i found the last level to be the most fun... the most annoying level was 21, having blocks off the screen you cant see and rearanging all the blocks each time you screwed up, most rearangements of which i swear were imposible to be solved
also i think the aim is to get a high score, cause retracing your steps lowers your score, and if you are against a wall, holding down the direction key towards that wall will slowly lower your score
but yeh, cool game :P
Posted by: mongle | March 3, 2005 6:49 PM
:D - I'd say not at all bad if you managed to finish the game ;D
Mongle - nice assessment. I actually thought a lower score was better, but I believe you disproved that theory.

I can't get past level 13
can someone do a video for this just like that ball revamped game?
Posted by: Steve | March 3, 2005 10:21 PM
For lvl 13
This solution is for the aspect where you start in the lower left, and the goal is at the top of the screen. When the aspect is different, the solution path will be the same, but you'll have to figure out how to adjust the keys accordingly...
Up, right, up, left, down, left, up, right, down, left, up, right, up, right, down, right, up, left, up, left, up.
Cheers,
Chris

"ok, chris, I have the exact same aspect as you, yet I always fly off the screen on the fifth step. I think you forgot something"
I just tried it again, and it worked ok. Perhaps you are looking at a different aspect? The solution is for the aspect where you start in the lower left, and the end is pretty much center at the top.

Any tips for level 11?
Posted by: help please | July 28, 2005 3:33 PM
Whew, finally beat it with a score of 20480 :)
I had thought the one with the rotating green, blue, and red blocks was going to be harder than it was.
And I still don't understand the level with the seemingly impossible blocks that changed every time you died.

Make a walkthrough using pictures? Gee, that's going to be hard work. I know, because I've just finished making walkthroughs for every level.
At homepages.paradise.net.nz/~pmw57/orbox you will find walkthroughs for this great game that let you flip the walkthrough horizontally and vertically, to match your own level display.

Why do all you people try to take the fun out of this game by using all these technical term and actually helping people? If you can't beat the game then give up; it's better than cheating and asking for help. Also, great game.
Posted by: Rpodnee | December 18, 2005 10:43 AM
I think that's a matter of opinion, Rpodnee, and every person is a bit different than you are.
And that is what makes the world such a delightful place to live in. =D

Posted by: Kristoipher | January 2, 2006 2:17 PM
Jay, I just recently found out about your site - just in time to have you tell me which are the best games of the year! So, I'm playing them now. Thanks!
Rpodnee - I'm glad there is help if it's wanted. Sometimes I just get sooo frustrated, and getting help is preferable to kicking my cat (just kidding, of course)

Need help on number 10 please, very stuck and annoyed.. =P
Posted by: primetala | March 27, 2006 1:38 PM
It looks like it flips and mirrors differently each time... maybe only in the further levels. Interesting. (translation: good luck giving/getting step-by-step instructions for any one level)
Posted by: Bebo | March 29, 2006 4:12 PM
Jay, I think the game/puzzle you are reminded of is called "Lunar Lockout" by Binary Arts.
As soon as I saw this entry I ran upstairs to find.. the board. My sister has lost the pieces. Damn sisters.
(I could be wrong, I don't know if Binary Arts sell things in America and if you've played it.)

I am so stuck on 11.
I need at least a hint, i can't get far at all.
Posted by: hello | June 14, 2006 11:40 AM
I actually think the goal might be to get the least points, the reason being that even if you retrace your steps, you get points. So, the less points you get, typically, the more direct route you've taken. I think that it can be a goal to do it either way.
Posted by: joshua | August 27, 2006 8:02 PM
I'm also stuck on 13... hard to give hints about a game like this, though.
Posted by: tankgirl23 | November 5, 2006 11:17 PM
GOt to 18!! Hazah! Just trace it backwards, it helps alot
Posted by: Crunk | February 13, 2007 10:46 PM
perhaps it's just me, but there seems to be a bug on level 15 (i think). i keep going THROUGH a solid block, making it impossible. most annoying.
