The other discovery is Death Village, a wonderful little game by Nigoro in which you guide a trembling little nebbish of a man around a haunted castle, using various traps and spooks to literally scare him onto the right path while being careful not to scare him to death. This playthrough video of the first level does a good job of demonstrating how the game works and how to play it. The game's title screen indicates a level editor, but it's grayed-out and looks like it's not available yet. Play Death Village.
Death Village walkthrough now available!

There is more than one level, (thumpa-thumpa-thumpa) Technochocolate (thumpa-thumpa-thumpa)
Huh.
Silly me.

Complete Walkthrough
(some parts were collected from other comments posted later. -Jay)

Level 1 (Standby Hut):

Level 2 (Solitary House):

Level 3 (House with Steeple):

Level 4 (Panic Slider):

Level 5 (Mansion of the Hands):

Level 6 (The Corridor):

Level 7 (Fly to the Second House):

Level 8 (Underground Path):

Level 9, Fort of basins:

As he get out of the entrance door, it's wise to quickly open the the door at the floor above him.
Then, before he finish walking through the broken floor, click the yellow basin to scare him (that's 3rd floor of right building).
Since there's about 2 seconds leeway, open the door on the left of where he entered (that's 2nd floor of right building).
He will be scared by the hands, and run through the first door (1st floor of right building). He will slam onto the 2nd door (1st floor of left building), QUICKLY open and close the door. That should get him inside.
As he climb the stairs, open the 2nd floor door on the left building, so he can pass by after climbing.
He will now go to the 2 coffin floor. Make sure the mummy on the right never gets out, by knock on the coffin when it starts shaking. However, we want the left mummy to scare him. Do so by click on the left coffin, when he get onto the floor. The scaring trick is as followed: As he walks toward the closed door of that floor, click on the left coffin, once. A mummy should come out very soon. He will get scared and run toward the closed door. Open the door, when he is on the RIGHT side of BOTH coffins, that will scare him 2nd time. As he run back (toward left), the mummy will scare him the 3rd time. Then, he will run to the right building, 2nd floor.
You can close that door, after he landed, to save time. (2nd floor, right building)
He will go up one floor, and get scared by the hands, and run left. Slam the door on him, so he won't run out of the 3rd floor. After he calmed down, he should go up.
As he climb up, make sure that top mummy never gets out any more; if he is still out, wait for him to go back in. You do so by knock on the coffin whenever it shakes.
If everything goes well, he should head to the top floor with a big scar. However, if you are unable to do so, due to the fact that the coffin shakes all the time. Double click the coffin, whenever he turns his back on it. That will make the mummy skip the next turn to get out.
Now, is where the luck part get in. The air blows every 5, 6, or 7 seconds (I counted, but it never blow on a set time), and he need to get scared by it. So, you have to keep him at the top floor at all time, either open/close the door to scare him, or knock on it to get his attention. Just keep him there (2nd option may be better).
And, if you do well, he will be scared, and run toward the left building, and slam onto the right one of the double doors. QUICKLY open and close the door, before he get killed by basin.
Then, open the left door for him. And he will take care of the rest, like going downstairs to go to the exit.
Level 10, Hurried Tower:

WATCH OUT! He will fall as he exit the entrance. You need to quickly zoom out, do it faster than he fall, and you will see a door on the bottom. So, when he fall to the position next to the door, open it quickly to bounce him onto the platform on the right side. If you do not do it fast enough, he will die in 2 seconds, literally.
He will climb stairs now. Use these time to get rid of the 2 yellow basins in the level, by click on them. Also, open the door on 3rd floor as early as possible.
Try to prevent the mummy on the 3rd floor get out before you pass it.
If you got enough luck, means, if you did above fast enough, he will NOT get air blown onto him. Thus, he will walk all the way to the right, then up, and then to the left.
He needs to get onto the top, thus, open the doors on his way, include the one on the top floor, that leads to the broken floor. Also, it would be nice if you can prevent the mummy getting out, by double click the coffin.
When he get onto the top, the door to the right should already open. Let him walk on the broken floor. When he is in the middle of it, slam the door shut, and that would scare him to make him fall.
There's a door 2 floors down on the bottom (above the exit). When he in the horizontal position as that door, open it, so that he will be bounced to the left.
There's also some broke floor on the left. Slam shut the door when he walks on it, and that would get him onto the same floor as the exit.
That's it. Game completed. Congratulations!
Can someone please explain, since the tutorial doesn't work yet, how does "scaring" the guy actually effect his movement?
The reason I ask is because I cannot fgure out when exactly will this bozo climb up/down the stairs. I always seem to get him stuck in a loop on the first level, and no amount of door slamming is enought to convince him to climb down.
What's worse, when I don't do ANYTHING, it seems it's completely random whether he'll take the stairs or not. And random things are not really a good thing for timed puzzle games to have.
No level saves, I don't want to begin every time with level 1 again, I'm having a bit time for playing this game.
A big minus for a *casual* game.
Alsoo one level I accidently hit "replay" instead of "next level". Would you thing, you could then just give up and go to next level? No! You have to solve it again. Yuck.
Otherwise a good original idea!
Oh another minus, I have to set my monitor gamma level to high value to be able to play properly.
Ben, I need help for the S level, don't know if you are there yet, or not.
It won't load :( ...and it looked so good
Hints and tips on how to use items and objects in the game

If you open/close right in front of him, he will get scared, and go to the other direction.
But this is a distance-dependent trick, if he's too far aways, he will just be surprised, and/or sigh.
If you knock on them, or open/close not in front of his eyes (behind him or there's a huge way dividing them), he will just have a question mark and walk toward that direction to see what happened.
Also, beware of the direction of the doors, since depends on their directions and whether you are closing or opening them, you can either knock him back to the direction he came, or give him a boost toward the direction he is going.
The trick will have immediate effect.
Certain windows will have a ghost come out and boo at you, when you knock on them—good for scare him to make he go to the other direction.
Careful, if you do that on top of him, he will be "scared to death" immediately.
There is 1 or 2 second delay, so knock on the window early...
Certain stairs can turn into slides when you click on them—and he will go down much faster.
Also, according to physics, he will be projected out *hint for certain later levels*.
It has immediate effect.
Certain parts of floor can let the character fell right through (to reach the floor below it).
Still, if the distance is too high, the character will die.
You can tell those parts by 1) they have only a white top, but no black / solid bottom, and 2) the character is moving very slowly + carefully when stand on these parts of floors.
Scare him to make him fell through.
Mummies will come out of them.
However, certain mummies come out only when you knock on them, and the others come out at a timely fashion (watch the clock on the screen carefully). As for which is which, you need to find out by yourself, since they do not have special design as for windows + stairs.
The mummies would walk a designed (short) path, and return to their coffins. However, if you divide them and their coffins with a door, they will simply vanish.
The mummies would shake coffins up a bit before coming out, and thus, there's a 2 or 3 sec delay.
2 types, yellow and white.
You can click yellow ones to make them drop.
As for the white ones, they will only drop if you "knock on something really hard", be it you run into walls, or fell through floors.
Sometimes it's good to get knock by them, that's when the character running like crazy, and you do not want him run out of the building (especially when he is not on the first floor). And sometimes they can K.O. you.
The yellow ones have about a second delay, be mindful about it.
They only fly around when there's a sound, be it knock/open/close doors or drop of a basin.
The have designed path for flying, although the path is not straight at all.
DO NOT let them touch you, or you will be "scared to death" immediately.
The move as soon as the sound is produced, and quit after their designed flight.
It's really scary for him, so he will run toward the opposite direction, if he can.
However, if he fell on top of the hands, and he's not looking at them, he will be fine.
On the other hand, if he fell on them, and he's looking at them, he will die.
It only actives when the character is in close enough range.
Air will blow out of the walls that have a big scar.
He will run like hell.
It's timed, so again, watch the clock.
It ranges from just surprised (then he will sigh of relief, which takes about 4 second), to walk away, to run away (though doors <-- he opens them himself), to scared to death. Of course you do not want to last one, since you got to play the level again.
I think, just think, that if you scare him 3 times, CONTINUALLY, he will run away very quickly, and 4 times he will die. I need someone confirm that.
Walkthrough for level 6 would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Next 3 levels:

I'd do the next two, but level 9 (probably the S level wsz was talking about) has been stalling me for about an hour. Solving the puzzle in your head is sometimes only half the actual puzzle, and it's especially so with this game. I've managed most of it, but there's an especially annoying part that I haven't exactly worked out yet (though I have an idea on how to deal with it) and only managed to get past once, at which point I died because I didn't make any effort to avoid yet another basin falling on the protagonist's head. I also want to take a break and play some X-COM; the game is a classic and it's been sitting unloved on my desktop too long.
Also, wsz, you are right about the scary levels, with two minor nuances missing:

As for how he handles stairs.. if he's not scared, he'll always take the first one he's able to reach (without going backwards), UNLESS it's either clicked on and no longer has anything to step on, or he's just tried it and fallen down due to a click. If he gets scared at all, he won't use them.
Er, second nuance:

Walkthrough
Level 6, The Corridor

Take a deep breath, it's one of the easiest. You will only use 1/3 of the space to finish your task.

That's it. Told you, it's easy.
Level 7, Fly to the second house

It's easier; you only need good timing at a single step.

You are done! Yeah!
Level 8, Underground path --- difficulty level A

Finally something much tougher.
The timing is VERY important on many parts, so watch out!

Then you done! Fuu~ that was hard, comparatively.
Ok, that's the 3 levels I finished. Hope that help, Ezrabbit.
Now, I am stuck at the "S" level --- the difficulty level is S --- level 9, Fort of basins.
I know timing is VERY important at this level, but I still can't time it correctly.
So far, I know of followings:

I don't know what to do anymore after these, someone help, PLEASE!!!
Gosh, doubled. Sorry, Ben.
I just found out a great trick!

Level 9, Fort of basins --- Walkthrough

Level 10, Hurried Tower --- Walkthrough

That's it. Game completed. Congratulations!
Guess I won't need to spend another night on it.
Two most needed features for this game:
1. Ability to save levels (already mentioned)
2. Ability to pause the action and survey the area so one can plan what to do (like in Lemmings). If anyone hasn't already figured this out, zooming out and taking a screen shot can be handy.
i cant even get on to the game where has it gone? Ffirex
Firebrand - Try it again, the games seems to be loading fine for me at the moment.
I'm so stuck on level 2. I've done everything posted in the spoiler but he will NOT jump the gap. I've tried it with the basin there and the basin on the floor, I've tried it with both doors open, both closed, one open and one closed, etc. and nothing is working. He'll run to the edge and stand there, catch his breath, turn around and see the mummy, but won't jump the gap. If I wait too long to knock on the coffin he just starts up the stairs. Any help please?
Hi, Joe,

Joe:

Whoops. I meant to say...

it does'nt load for me, i get to the loading screen and it just lies there, candle flickering for 20 minutes before i get bored and close the screen.
Matthew - try updating your Flash Player (reinstall Flash). The game is loading just fine.
Also, as is the nature of the Web and Web servers, sometimes sites go down or are unreachable temporarily. It's always best to be patient and try again a bit later. =)
This game is sickeningly cute, but in a good way.
if he runs really fast to a room with a toilet he will sit on it and he will get scared because of the hand
i have a little trouble for level 9

awesome game keep up the good work jay this game used to scare me but not anymore it's quite easy when you get the hang of it!
on level 6

:( i just wanted some attention that's why i put those comments
This game doesn't even work any more the page keeps saying undefined.
[Edit: I could not reproduce the problem. All links work fine for me. -Jay]
