Very pretty, atmospheric game, but gameplay was just clicking everything, not much puzzle solving.

I'm disappointed with this one. It looks great and there's a good flow, but it's so limited with what you have to do- and even what you can do. There's very little sense of discovery, particularly since many of the things you had to pick up or brush for prints have a little glint of light screaming "HEY, TOUCH ME".

The connections were all made for you, "puzzles" consisted largely of using one item in a particular scene with another item at that same scene. The primary difficulty was figuring out what to click- and that's the only reason it took me as long as it did to finish.

I miss the noir feel of the first two games, which I loved, along with the soundtrack that those had.

And the story- what loose bit there was- just wasn't all that good. The whole thing is not really connected, and the stuff that you would be able to link together is made unavailable to the player early on. You can't even return to previously-visited locations to see what little information is given at any of them. Although it does end up making some sense in the end, it feels sloppily mushed together. Even the ending slideshow fails to provide any sort of a sense of wrapping things up. The motivation is made clear, but the method is far from being explained (why were the murders so excessive? that's a lot of effort for just what the killer was going for), and the "how" of it is not even addressed.

The game is ultimately inferior in every way to its predecessors. It's not very interactive, it doesn't engage the player, and the story is so lacking as to be the frustrating icing on a poor game's cake. The Golden Doll stands as the strongest entry in this series, and this particular format is done far better in the Rizzoli & Isles games (also made by Pastel Games) than seen here.

Yeah, this should've been the elementary version. Released first, perhaps. The art is very strong (though some of these places should be more cramped; square footage isn't cheap -- the previous games were better at rendering spaces).

Also (darn my quick posting finger)

constitutional rights? what constitution? It would be more interesting if we had to submit our evidence before a judge lets us search a property, rather than just site unlocked.

I enjoy these types of games. No, they're not too demanding. But, that's why I like them. Casual gameplaying!

humm... I think my game has either glitched or I really am blind as a bat. I cant seem to find (spoilered just in case...)

the "name" on the invitation...

I can't seem to find a hotspot to click on or anything!

Venus,

The name you're looking for is actually on the Letter, not the Invitation. Make sure you check the mailbox twice for both items. I've reworded the walkthrough slightly to make that a little easier to understand :)

Plot reminds me of the great Tom Lehrer song

about Wernher von Braun, with lines like "once the rockets go up, who cares where they come down, that's not my department, says Wernher von Braun" and "don't call me hypocritical, just...apolitical"

Now THIS is great graphics, combined with a taut, tense, edge-of-your-seat mystery. I LOVE mysteries. Five Stars for Pastel Games for this new series! Keep 'em coming, guys!
