It's a Wkeneed Dwnalood mix-up edition! Do you like things? Things that are mixed up with other things to make yet another thing to love? Do you love liking mixed things that are things with other things? I hope you answered "what?" to at least one of those, because here come the games!
Momodora 2 (Windows, 15.5MB, free) - It's an established fact that you enjoyed last year's Cave Story-inspired platformer Momodora. So, logically, you'll also have a fantastic time with the sequel! This time around, you control Momo, a maiden from Koho village on a mission to defeat the underworld queen. You start with a very basic attack but discover new abilities as you play, such as a double-jump, long-range attack, and health extenders. The action is largely the same as the first game, but everything else is different and improved, making it a sure-fire hit in your Metroidvania-loving household.
Station 37 (Windows, 7.34MB, free) - A game of bravery, rescue, and plenty of fire-related action! This 2D platformer tasks you with rescuing civilians from burning buildings one helpless human at a time. Use your fire extinguisher to put out flames in your path and your axe to remove obstacles impeding your progress. When you find a person, carry him/her back to the chief, then head back into the fiery building to do it some more! A short game that can get a bit repetitive, but the concept is different and it's a lot of fun to play the wonderful rescuing hero!
Adventure: All in the Game (Windows, 112MB, free) - Familiar with old school adventure games? Prepare to experience an explosion of nostalgia. Adventure: All in the Game takes place behind the scenes of your favorite retro adventure titles and stars Thalia James, agent of the Computer Game Maintenance Squad, who travels around trying to make sure everyone else's adventure runs smoothly, all while mentoring a brand new CGMS agent! If you know your adventure genre, this game is nothing short of a blast from start to finish. If you don't, you'll still enjoy the stuffing out of this well-made game, and Thalia explains key characters to you, so you won't be left out. Wonderfully conceived with some seriously smart puzzles to solve. A must-play game! For real!
Note: All games have been confirmed to run under Windows 7 and are virus-free. Mac users should try Boot Camp, Parallels, or CrossOver Games to play Windows titles, Linux users can use Wine. If you know of a great game we should feature, use the Submit link above to send it in!
...Station 37 is amazing.
I love how the game tricks you into thinking that there is more than the first level, with the overworld, upgrades, and achievements. A game with this concept would be kinda cool on a larger scale, actually: in each level you play as an "average" worker, when you get to the apparent end of the level, a different disaster happens, like a zombie virus or a war or something...
Ugh ... I tried to play Adventure: All In The Game, but the endless dialogue killed me. I could care less about the back story -- I just want to take aim at the puzzles and actually PLAY! When I spent roughly two minutes just hitting "enter" to get past all of the game's initial dialogue, I called it quits. That, to me, is not an adventure game. It's a boring game.
Station 37 seems a lot like it was inspired by Inferno Meltdown by thePodge...
Cool game though.
It most strongly resembles the old SNES game "Ignition Faction", except as a sidescroller. The resemblance to inferno meltdown seems like a coincidence due to the theme.
When I saw "Momodara 2", I had a yesgasm. The first was FANTASTIC, i cant wait to play this.
Many things in Adventure: All in the Game are reminiscent of the Thursdeay Next books by Jasper Fforde.
Dang. That would make a good essay question.
Discuss.
Hmmm. win7(64). Downloaded and extracted Momodora2. When I run the .exe, I get a *very* small window that I can't even resize enough to see what might be there. Running as admin. No other progs. It's taking 48-51 CPU and shows 'not responding' in the resource monitor. Seems 'media' related. Suggestions?
Thank you so much for posting Adventure - All in the Game. The game itself is pretty quick and not much difficulty/intuition involved, but so much happiness and nostalgia from all the visuals, characters, and dialogue it draws together from the whole genre.
