Splitter

PsychotronicSplitterSplitter, from Eugene Karataev, is an intriguing puzzle game that puts the popular Box2d Physics Engine to good use. Get the yellow smiley face to the exit by strategically slicing through blocks and cords. Some of the puzzles involve a lot of trial and error, and the graphics are, to put it kindly, basic. However, shearing precise chunks off of a wooden block and watching gravity slide them away is a captivating process. If I didn't have a limited number of knife strokes each level, and if metal and stone weren't impervious to my blade, I'd feel like a god. As it is, I feel more like a guy with the world's quietest chainsaw, which is still pretty darn good.

Regarding the title screen: Isn't it creepy when game characters follow your cursor with their eyes? Especially while they're, um, holding a knife and grinning?

Cheers to Markus, Alexander and Ned for sending this one in! =)

very fun game, i've done the first 15 or so levels.

Just the difficulty on some of these levels are very steep, while others ae fairly easy, while others are just plain timing.

Others, I believe are nearly impossible to do. example, Number 12, pendulum, or 16, only one.

Both of thos have driven me nuts trying to complete, let alone get the star. They both have a very high difficulty level, while the ones around them are fairly easy.

This is one of my favourite game!

Great game, a lot of the levels are just figuring out where to cut. Then it's a matter of getting the when right.

As for 12:

Cut the last two joints BEFORE the first pendulum hits

Still Stuck?

Cut his AFTER it hits and watch him fly :D

Actually, I found stage 12 fairly easy:

In fact, the only way to not finish it is to cut all five ropes at once, since the two right-hand balls will prevent him from rolling to the goal. Just cut the middle one, or the middle three, or the leftmost three, or whatever, as long as you don't cut the rightmost rope (and make sure he's swinging in the right direction).

Now, getting the star is another question question...

I will admit that I haven't gotten 11 yet, though. :(

Level 11:

Use the ball to hit the column...

Still Stuck?

Hit it right at the top, cut the left joint first, then the right.

Pul-ease make a Box2D tag for JiG. You've had dozens of games from it already, but this is the first one you've pointed it out for.
(Also, it's technically made with Box2DAS3, not the original C++ engine)

Much harder then it seems. Although a lot of times you can pass the level with a lucky "cut" :) .

I have a bit of trouble with the last few levels. Oh, and I wish the smiley ball was a bit more bouncy, its design doesn't really give out the fact it behaves like a bowling ball...

Splitter has to be one of those great physics games. Simple gameplay and realistic physics make for a very amusing game!

I found the 'Swing' level impossible, only getting it by a lot of trial and error. But I love games like this (or even more so, Fantastic Contraption) which give you a URL to recall your solution!

My solution for 'Swing':

I spotted (and completed) this game some days ago. Also submitted some walktroughs.
I love the Gameplay. I wish i can play "Splitter 2" with some more levels soon!

I really like this one. Some levels are hard, but not so hard that you can't finish the game in 30 minutes or so.

There's a "walkthrough" (ie. example movies) for the entire game available at the Kongregate forums:

Bridge, a level I had so much trouble with, actually has a very easy solution:

http://www.king.com/games/splitter/viewer.jsp?w=11042133380006

Oooh, that's frustrating. if you play the game, and come back later it saves your progress. Why is that frustrating? if you beat the game and come back later, you've got to restart from the first level!

My own unique solution to the driving school level:

So I'm stuck on Pusher, #21...I can hit him up to the star, but not quite over the wall ever...what's up?

ideas for 19? seems like it moves faster in real life than in the video...

I almost missed a physics game!

So far this is awesome--keeping me away from fantastic contraption for the moment :P

Anyone got ideas for level 25?

This was a really unexpected solution for #23, Bridge:

Hello, all;

It's rare that I find a physics game that I enjoy, and this one's VERY nice. Yes, there are a lot of "lucky cuts" to thank for getting to the end of a level, but overall I can (usually) get to the next level with a bit of thought.

Nice design: simple and clean. Only a few options, so no long frustrating learning of commands.

Now if I could just get past that "wall" level...

Im stuck on level 19 the swing. how do you beat it?

On number 11

Just before it hits the smile ball cut the other string this should cause the cement ball to drop and hit the concreate pillor.

when i did it it banged into the pillar an then shook the ball free in the right direction! >

How do you pass swing level?

anyone need help on level for the four swinging balls - just cut all four at the same time and hope they all land in one hole. I got it on the first try.

need help on 16 (only one) please (only one is what the level is called - more than one answer would be great!

thx

level 18 (wall) i got it! cut the botton diagonally and form a ramp. then cut from below the left joint to near the end of the botton right corner of thr remains of the hanging wall. cut the jount the guy is on when the guy is pointing straight down. i finally figured that out because that way, he will swing through the passage, roll down the ramp, collect the star, and go into the exit. Bingo!

Found out elevator (20) takes timing.

Cut left edge of bar, then a little of the right block, then the joint of the left block. Do it all at the right time so that the guy will go straight up, get both stars, and fall into the exit. It took me a while, so do not expect it to happen in an instant.

Please let me know if my comments are helpful.

[Edit: Spoiler tags added. -Pam]

i got swing level!!!!!

i made a lucky cut after so long!

cut the square diagonally from the top left to bottom right. i think you need to cut it slightly off so that the bigger triangle slides off and the guy is lighter that the triangle staying on there so the guy will fall off to the other side.

yay me! (sorry :) ) again, please let me know if my comments are helpful.

youtube has a good solution for 21...

cut a part off the top of the block about the size of your thumbnail. cut the two top joints. done. adjust length if necessary.

thank you, guitarheroroxmysox08, for giving me the solution, i do not credit myself for it, but i am only sharing it with ppl who use jay is games for help on games.

I BEAT THE GAME! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP PPL WHO POSTED COMMENTS AND VIDEOS! AND JAY IS GAMES!

Needs a level editor. Lol.

The swing is really difficult! Even if I copy the walkthrough it still doesn't work. I actually caught myself tilting my laptop... Didn't help much :-)

this game wont come up on my computer. it says its done loading but there is not a picture or anything. what can i do to get it to work?

how to beat swing:
be fast! you can't waste time. The game's interface makes this kinda tough, but you have to cut that sucker as fast as you can, making as much of it fall off as quickly as possible. I used a upper-left to lower-right cut (obviously).

Really fun game!

It took me forever, but I found out how to do driving school. Look for yourself. It's really cool!

http://www.king.com/games/splitter/viewer.jsp?w=02080107520329

I beat swinngg!

I'm here to save the day with a walkthrough.

http://www.king.com/games/splitter/viewer.jsp?w=02190437010782

I had the most interesting way of doing "the last one".

Even with that walkthrough, Swing is hard... you have to get the cut just perfect (placement & timing) or it doesn't work.
I'm also stuck on Elevator & Bridge at the moment...

Oh, and I beat Driving School with 2 cuts:
http://www.king.com/games/splitter/viewer.jsp?w=03170017070437

Finished it!
Thanks for the advice on Swing & Elevator.

And the only star I missed was on Pendulum.

can anyone help my pass level 20 i can not get it and i have been on it forever

My only complaint with this game is sometimes you have to be precise as well as fast with your cuts.

how do you win elevator?

Here's Pusher (#21) in one cut:

i dont know guys but this game is hard

Level 12 Pendulum Solution:

http://www.king.com/games/splitter/viewer.jsp?w=05130157530317

Wasn't that hard was it?

I know I found level 20 (elevator) quite hard, so here's the clip of my solution:

ummm....i cant figure out the level Wall... HELP!!
