Gateway is an impressive and delightful 3D puzzle game from Anders Gustafsson, awarded Honorable Mention and the coveted Audience Award in our recent game design competition. The game has a very simple premise: guide a robot through a series of rooms; but you will have to solve a mini-puzzle within each room to advance.
Using the mouse for control, simply click where you'd like the robot to move and it will walk to that spot if its path is unobstructed. By moving the robot around each room you can pick up objects and interact with controls and devices. You can even combine objects that you've picked up in your inventory. And you will need to do all of these things at one time or another in order to finish the game (sometimes all of the above for the same puzzle). Click.
Analysis: Although the formula is not an original one, the game does possess a charming artistic style and a wonderfully moody environment. The designer managed to create a world that is at the same time whimsical and ominous, through a film noir style of high-contrast environments and downplayed musical backgrounds. The music is used sparingly but effectively, striking a dark chord from time to time at just the right moment ("PEEPER"!).
I found the puzzles overall to be very easy, with a couple of notable and devious exceptions. The tutorial was not at all necessary, and were I not judging this for a contest I may not have sat through it. Hopefully Anders will address this in future installments (which I very much hope to see).

Jay: The first time I fired up Gateway, slogging through a tutorial was the last thing I wanted to see. I didn't realize until after I had completed the game that it can be turned off in the options menu, but by then it was too late. With the exception of some minor control issues, the design of the game and its interface is quite intuitive, therefore the tutorial won't be necessary for most people. Instead of hiding it away in the options menu, a possible improvement might be to ask the player, via a simple Yes/No dialog when starting a new game, if a tutorial is desired.
Once past the tutorial and into the first room, the game begins to take on a much more mysterious and portentous tone. Anders blends sight and sound masterfully to create an atmosphere ripe for what he delivers in the telescope room, which is both the game's finest achievement and its biggest disappointment. I wanted to see some connectedness between the character we see through the telescope and the player character of the game. As it is, there is no common thread that ties together these potentially powerful vignettes.
The puzzles, of course, are all very creative and I enjoyed playing through the game from start to finish in one sitting, which is not difficult to do. I am looking forward to seeing the direction Anders takes with this game and its underlying Blockman engine, as it appears to have a great deal of potential.

Hiya mike123
If you ever need help straight away there is usually a walkthrough near the top of the page. In this case, there are also three pages of comments already and your question has been asked, and answered, many times over. :o)
To answer your question, I refer you to the "level 10" part of the walkthrough above.
I'm trying to get past level 7 but I'm having a difficult time understanding what the heck the walkthrough instructions say. Thanks!
Joline
Try this:-

Hope that helps :o)
HELP!!!
I constantly get stuck with the alarm room!! The one before the kitchen! when i go into the kitchen i get stuck and i presume its cause you have to stop the alarm first?! Only i can't get the code!!
Will someone please post a spoiler for thhis room!!!
thanks,
anna
In the room with the telescope you have to look at the sleeping robot in the window,
look away then the robot will be looking at you. Then look away one more time
and look back to see he or she wrote. You might think it says pepper but it's
739939. And that's the code to the door withe the telescope.
Anna
I think you are doing Gateway 2. You might to check out the page and walkthrough for that.

it was really freaky with the peeper.

how do you do the level with the lights hanging down with the floor turning diff colors
yea dude that telescope bit , i watched it 3 times and im still getting scared when he appears at the window
Aiden M, what you do is you stick the newspaper under the door and then use the screwdriver to poke the key out of the hole. Then you need to pull the newspaper out.
i dont understand how you get the code from the tv
Wow.

that was really short.i played the 2nd one which is alot better than this one.if you need a walkthrough refer to the first post.
it was really cool a bit to short but the peeper part really creeped me out! but it was really cool all though i spent hundreds off mins trying to work out the last level. so i rang up my friend to see if he knew(my coz)no so then i relized the light bulb flickered i just got the to middle on rong and the top right on rong ....then my coz rang me up and told me about this site thanks for being u... thanks see ya =)=)=)=)=)=)
from miss cool xx
So I have found a glitch in the game. The puzzle w/ the tv:

Hiyyyyeee
Can someone please help me on the plank level.
I've read the walkthrough and it makes no sense what so ever
Can someone please drop a spoiler.
Thanks
Much Love
For the plank level:
Knock down the first plank and walk across the platform, you will notice that colors will emit from the platform and doors. Choose any color and make sure both color tiles are the same on the platform.
Walk back across the plank and through the door and you will come out the other side. Now knock down that plank, and go back to the platform and change the tiles to where the doors no longer emit color and then walk to the right and the level is completed.
what do you do on the level with the hexagon floor and the lightbulbs im tottaly confuzzled!!!
same here Angus N.
i don't understand that level either AT ALL.
could someone please help us!
The PEEPER thing freaked me out
because the guy was sleeping
then he was up looking through the window :O
what happens after that?
how do you get past the tv part?
Hi, I just beat the game and I am a bit confused about the last room. I had to use the walk through to get past it, what is with the colors on the floor? Is it something to do with the light bulbs flickering? Thank you.
If anyone wants to know the logic behind the hexagon room, here are some hints, the last one being the answer

omg thank you sooo much LukeGt!!! that really really REALLY helped me!!!!
im stuck in the tv room lol
can anyone tell me the code to get back out plz
much appreciated
I need help when you walk in to the room with the lights on the floor. I put the right colors but it wont let me in. Please help.
The only bad thing about it: It was too short. Otherwise great game. Not too challenging and all of the puzzles are a little straightforward.
