DoraOwl's NestIt's time for an alternative history lesson with Pastel Games' newest point-and-click adventure, Owl's Nest. In it, you play the part of a spy sneaking into a research facility in the Owl mountains in 1943, but will you be prepared for what you find?... what?.... nnnooooo, no, it's not secret Twilight/Avatar crossover fanfiction, although that would be pretty bad. But that's not what we're dealing with here. Think... shambl-y-ier.

Just click on the screen to interact; items you take will appear in your inventory, and to use them, just click once on the item, and then again whenever you want to try using it onscreen. The biggest issue for some players might wind up being having to troll the screen with their cursor looking for hotspots, since it isn't always visibly apparent when a portion of the screen will have an area transition or something to interact with. The game is also fairly short with relatively straight-forward "use item here" puzzles, although if you want to stroke your own ego you could just convince yourself that any ease is because you missed your calling as an International Man/Woman of Mystery. (Yeah, baby!)

But these are admittedly minor quibbles with what is a solid bit of adventuring to get you in the right frame of mind for your weekend. (You never know when you're going to need to infiltrate something.) The artwork is gorgeous and moody, even if the darkness might be a little hard on your eyes, and the atmosphere is that perfect blend of creepy/desolate that makes for great evening gaming. The ending is a little abrupt, but if you're looking for a tasty bite of What If?-style point-and-click gameplay, you could do a lot worse than Owl's Nest.

This is really good. I was stuck for a bit, but I eventually figured out the right tool. This game is not exceptionally tricky, but the ending is odd.

I got to the part where I look through the scope of the gun into the hallway and I saw a skeleton and got too scared. Can someone tell me about the ending?

why SO short? :(

For JIGuest, and anyone else who was too scared to see the ending.

Turns out the Nazis were trying to build super-soldiers, which had some nasty zombifying side-effect on their experimental subjects. Those are the skeletons hanging out in the hallways.

Nice atmosphere, but the bullets thing is frustrating. I accidentally fired one too many right near the end, and was basically unable to finish the game without restarting it completely.

I didn't think it was short, it might of been to other people (but that is why people always evaluate with "average gameplay"), it was a nice game. I'm thankful there is an autosave system, I accidentally click those ads. 5/5

This game is awesome. But shouldn't Skutnik be tagged in it somewhere? The art in this game resembles The Fog way too much, along with other Skutnik games.

no need to collect all the bullets in the beginning
if you look a little more closely at the lockers there's a compartment at the top with 3 more bullets and a notebook

the game is very short and the colors make u see better in the game but the zombie part made me work for 4 times because of the bullets be careful while shooting them

if u wait more than 5 seconds u die and if u dont use a single bullet for each of them u die again

@kehool
they are extra bullets for the zombies because if u die and repeat from the enrance in the 3rd zone u will have just the bullets remaining before u die if u use just 3 of these bullets u can use the extra ones but its useless if u used 4

Thank you, Kehool, for the tip. I could not

find the bullet in the room where you put in the punchcard

, but I think this is due to the way my Firefox browser loads the game (it was too far right).

Also, JIGuest...that is just about the cutest comment in the world.

A bit abrupt, and seemed a bit like a cross between the Fog Fall and Covert Front. I would have preferred another one of those games than this, but oh well.

Also,

Didn't some of the drawings look like the ones from Covert Front?

There is a bug, sadly. So beware...

Once I jumped down the shaft, I did not have the dagger on me anymore, so I could not open the hatch. Spent a LOT of time clicking every pixel in there...

After reloading, I was in the same place and all was OK.

JIGuest, I guess the part where they kill you if you don't speed up is a bit scary for kids your age, so i'll tell you how to kill the zombies.

Aim your rifle at them, and shoot. If you are too slow, they WILL kill you. So do it quickly, and if the screen fades in black, refresh your browser to avoid seeing your violent death. Remember: zombies are everywhere, and speediness is needed.
